About

In the Artist’s Studio is a monthly program inviting MoAD audience members to join us in visiting some of our favorite artists in their studios to see what they’re currently working on. We follow all talks with an audience Q&A.

Chaz Guest (b. 1961, Niagara Falls, NY) is an American painter and sculptor. He is a self-taught artist who began his career in the late 1980s, after meeting the French fashion designer Christian LaCroix in 1987, who encouraged him to pursue the medium of painting. He holds a B.S. from Southern Connecticut State University and studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

His work has been subject of numerous exhibitions, including at Patrick Painter Gallery, Santa Monica, CA; Night Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; GRK Gallery, Paris France; Justin Gilany, Los Angeles, CA; Les Moliere Palais Royal, Paris, France; and the Museum of the African Diaspora (MOAD), San Francisco, CA; among others. Guest’s work belongs to the collection of the Ulrich Museum of Art, Wichita, KS; Zuzeum Art Centre, Riga, Latvia; and numerous private collections, including former President Barack Obama; Oprah Winfrey; Beth Rudin DeWoody; Angelina Jolie; Ted Sarandos and Nicole Avant; Tyler Perry; and Herbie Hancock, among others.

Guest lives and works in Los Angeles.
