HOW THE 6-MONTH PROGRAMME WORKS
 

Deb's programme is divided into five comprehensive modules with over 49 hours of LIVE training, LIVE Q&As, recorded lectures, readings, plus hands-on large and small group work.

Upon registration, the course will kick off with preliminary self-study content from Deb. Then on 3rd January, the self-study component for Module 1 will be available in your portal. On 13th January, we come together for the first live virtual training. Subsequent self-study modules with Deb will be available in your portal after each virtual live training module.

As you move through the programme, Deb's senior trainers and consultants will walk alongside you through live trainings, experiential and consultation sessions—module by module—to bring the theory to life in their teaching, practices and in the way they navigate the world.

In addition to Deb's presence throughout the programme through the recorded content, Deb will offer two 90-minute Q&A sessions during the series. Along with reviewing the written and recorded material, you will be asked to complete practice assignments between training dates to gain confidence and expertise.

In this session, we'll begin the paradigm shift to looking through the lens of the nervous system to embody the practices. Meet the Course Experts:

Deb Dana
Deb Dana, LCSW, is a clinician, consultant, and author specializing in using the lens of Polyvagal Theory to understand and resolve the impact of trauma and create ways of working that honor the role of the autonomic nervous system. She developed the Rhythm of Regulation Clinical Training Series and lectures internationally on ways Polyvagal Theory informs clinical work. She is trained in Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Tapas Acupressure Technique, and completed the Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies at the Trauma Center.

 

Deb is a founding member of the Polyvagal Institute, clinical advisor to Khiron Clinics, and an advisor to Unyte. She is the author of The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy: Engaging the Rhythm of Regulation (Norton, 2018), Polyvagal Exercises for Safety and Connection: 50 Client-Centered Practices (Norton, 2020), Befriending Your Nervous System (Sounds True, 2020), Anchored: How to Befriend Your Nervous System Using Polyvagal Theory, co-editor of Clinical Applications of the Polyvagal Theory: The Emergence of Polyvagal-Informed Therapies (Norton 2018), and creator of the Polyvagal Flip Chart (Norton, 2020).

Foundations Senior Trainers:

Peggy Hough

Peggy Hough, MA, LCPC, CACD, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counsellor and Certified Alcohol and Other Addiction Counsellor specialising in the treatment of addictive disorders and trauma. Peggy has worked and studied with Pia Mellody and is a certified PIT Therapist (Post-Induction Therapy). She completed the three-year Somatic Experiencing Professional Training Programme based on Peter Levine's ground-breaking research on the treatment of trauma. She is an NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Master's Level Clinician. Peggy’s most recent passion is her work with Polyvagal Theory. After studying the theory based on Stephen Porges’ work and having the opportunity to assist Deb Dana in teaching the theory, Peggy now teaches the foundations of the theory to students around the world under the supervision of Deb Dana.

Peggy works with adolescents and adults in individual, group, couples, and family therapy. She has been in private practice for over thirty years and has extensive clinical expertise with diverse populations and has worked with multidisciplinary staffs. Peggy’s clinical work history includes working in treatment and hospital settings as well as private practice. She conducts clinical trainings on a variety of subjects and provides clinical supervision.

Drawing from her own recovery, education, spiritual journey, and the wisdom of her many beloved mentors, Peggy works primarily from a family systems orientation and is Polyvagal-guided. Her goal has consistently been to help individuals identify and build on their own strengths to achieve their personal goals.


<strong>Joseph Falkner</strong>

Joseph Falkner, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist, consultant, and presenter, who specializes in working with individuals with neurodivergent nervous systems and/or who struggle with finding safety in their nervous systems. He consults with neurodivergent individuals, families, groups, and organizations, to facilitate understanding and intervening with nervous systems’ responses to lived experiences.

Joseph earned his Master of Science in Teaching from the University of Wisconsin—River Falls and is a certified member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. His background in neuroscience, prosody, and social cognition, set a strong foundation for his practice. Joe has been studying the Polyvagal Theory since 2001 and has been applying this in his practice for the last approximate decade.

Joseph has had the opportunity to assist Deb Dana in some of her introductory Polyvagal courses. He has been a consultant for the Foundations of Polyvagal Informed Practice and presented on the Polyvagal Theory to individuals, families, and groups.
