We are excited to highlight ‘Black Lactation Matters,' a vital initiative dedicated to improving breastfeeding support for Black mothers. Rutendo Ajayi and Renee Clarke, two UC Berkeley School of Public Health students, started this initiative to help empower Black doulas to become lactation consultants. The UC San Diego Extended Studies Lactation program has helped provide the doulas with the necessary skills and tools needed to provide quality care and support.
