As the rebels join forces with other sectors, ISAN plans their destruction by using someone they don’t suspect at the rebel home base. A traitor within.

This is the third book in the series and starts back where we left off previously.
I did actually think this was going to be the final instalment, it’s not as this one ends on another cliffhanger.
Ava is now firmly back with Rhett and the rebel faction this time taking both Tamara and Brooke with her.
Brooke is still in a coma after being purposely injected with the wrong helix and Tamara has come clean about her own double agent status.
ISAN is frantic to get Ava back into there fold and will stop at nothing to achieve this.
While Justine Ava’s former teammate wants Ava taken down her hate and jealousy blinding her.
Ava also discovers the identity of her twin and it’s unfortunately not who she was expecting.
In fact, it’s everything opposite of what she’s been hoping.
There’s a war brewing between ISAN and the rebels and the fallout from this is not going to be pretty.
This one is told from Multiple POV’s
It’s action-packed and fast-paced with plenty of emotional upheavals throughout.
This also had some hard-hitting moments.
This was again well written and kept my attention.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of Genes.

"Bravery comes in all forms. You just have to know which suits you best."

GENES was an explosion of action and adventure, I was beyond addicted. With characters I loved, new twists and turns, being on the brink of war and so much unknown, I was glued to the pages. The story was gritty and rugged, so it was impossible not to have tears in my eyes at times. But love and friendship floated throughout the pages and added so much light and hope to their dark and dreary world. So if you're a fan of dystopian, characters that leap off of the pages and a story line that keeps you saying just one more chapter then this series is for you! Some of my favorite things were.....
I would move mountains for you. I would shatter the world to bring you home to me. Love is a powerful thing. - Rhett

✮ Teamwork:
Against all odds, we had made it. I was here with him. Beside each other was where we belonged. Our home.
My throat clogged. “My wish came true when I remembered you.”

One of my favorite aspects of this story was how friendships felt like family. They would do anything for each other and continually had each other's backs, I loved watching them work together. Especially when a few of them combined their powers. And with different groups merging, it wasn't always easy. There were struggles at times. But the devotion, commitment and trust that came from all of them created such huge feelings for me. Which ultimately made me nervous lol. No one was safe in this book and I found myself caring for even more people which terrified me.

✮ Action and Adventure:
I will not die today. We will not die today.
Like a dandelion, be resilient.

This whole series is action packed from that first page to the last. Yes we got lots of moments where we could breathe and watch beautiful moments unfold between the characters. And those added so much joy in my heart, I loved catching myself sighing out loud. But in the next instant we were up and going again. My pulse was pounding and this is the type of book that is easily devoured. Emotions and tensions ran high and I loved every single minute of it!

✮ The Whole Picture:
“I know. It’s okay. Whatever it takes, remember.” I tried to sound strong for the both of us, but my voice cracked.
“I love you.” Rhett held me tightly as if I was his lifeline, and then he kissed me with desperation.

While Ava was still our main point of view, I loved how we got moments with Rhett again. I'm obsessed with his thoughts on everything, especially with how he saw Ava. But we got a few other characters point of views mixed in a little bit. I won't mention who, so it's a surprise, but it was truly genius. The peaks we got into a few other people's heads rounded out the story so perfectly. There was so much at play, with so many moving parts, and it made me feel like I was watching a movie play out. It. Was. Fabulous!

✮ The Characters:
"Why does it have to be another one of us to die? Why doesn’t ISAN die?”
Oh, my heart. Air left my lungs in gasps. I fought back the sting in my eyes and sank to my knees.

Whether it was Ava being brave and fierce, always protecting those she loved at all cost. To Rhett's love that shined as bright as a star and being the voice of reason. To Ozzie's teddy bear ways that made me just want to squeeze him. To Mitch's complexity that pulled me in again and again, I loved learning a few more of his secrets. To Tamara and her knife wielding ways. To Momo, Bobo and Coco, oh I came to care for those kids so deeply. Even to Mr Novak's creepy and nefarious ways. These characters came alive. They were complex and stood easily apart from one another. Each one was so pivotal to this story, I loved it!
I fought the sting in my heart as I leaned back into Rhett’s arms. Moments like this were rare. We had to take all the good offered to us. No one knew what would happen tomorrow, or even an hour later.

GENES was my favorite book in this series! I loved how even more pieces of the puzzle came together and the bigger picture is becoming more clear. But it still felt insurmountable at times. Thankfully as the story progressed, hope bloomed in my chest. But beware, because there were setbacks that had me whispering no, no, no. I found myself crying for death and being terrified over the fate of those I cared for. But I also cried tears of happiness too. So if you're looking for a story that you can get completely lost in, definitely add this one to your tbr! I can't wait to see what happens next, especially after that ending!

PS I knew it!!

While things have turned much darker in this third episode, there’s also more attention on the romance between Ava and Rhett, a little too much, in my opinion, but that’s just because I’m not romance-driven and find it gets in the way at times. Never mind, though, that’s just me.

More characters show up and I like that, partly because we get a wide array of points of view and they bring different perspectives to the story. One thing I particularly admire about Mary Ting is her ability to introduce new characters and have them intermingle so well with the ones we met before, so well that you soon begin to think these newer players have been in the story all along and carry just as much importance.

There’s plenty of action, not much downtime, and it’s easy to become immersed in Ms. Ting’s tale to the point where it becomes difficult to put the book down and, in fact, I couldn’t. Just when I would think I was about to get a breather for a few minutes, something interesting would drag me back in—a sure sign of a good story 😉 This band of rebels have become a force to be reckoned with and, at last, there’s hope for their fight to bring ISAN to its knees.

If I’m sounding a bit vague, it’s because it would be too easy to fall into the spoiler trap and I’ll just say, please start with the first book if you’re new to the series. You’ll enjoy this third book much more if you do and be better prepared to wait for the fourth because the author has left us with a humdinger of a cliffhanger.

Extraordinary! Heart-breakingly brilliant! Genes gives us the next steps in this fascinating journey of hope and determination. This latest book takes the wonderfully complicated and multi-layered plot to the next level. You never know what will happen next, but you are guarrenteed to love every second of it. This book will challenge and push you to the breaking point, and you will love everything about it.

Ava put herself in harm's way for one purpose. That purpose fueled her motivation and kept her going. No matter the results she can't regret anything she has went through
After all none of her sacrifices have been in vain. Rhett has come back to life since Ava's return. He is determined to savor every moment, and he will so everything he can to further their cause. When Ava and Rhett are faced with more cunning and danger then he ever expected, will they stretch themselves too thin, or will they be able to turn the tables on their enemies?

I forgot how much I enjoyed this world with it's beauty and danger at every turn. When you feel the most alive is when you are the most vulnerable and hope is the most elusive. Rhett and Ava are not done yet. They have only just begun to fight together, and they are a fierce duo to go up against. When you add their friends to the mix, they become a force to be reckoned with. Only the truly insane and ignorant would stand in their way. Watching this group work together is truly a sight to behold as they grow and formulate the best way to take down ISAN.

Mary Ting has proven once again that she knows how to capture my heart with this truly amazing battle fought by underdogs with more heart and soul then you know what do with. I can't get enough of these fascinating characters who sneak into my heart when I am not looking and leave their mark for all time. What a incredible journey that we are given the privilege of experiencing and enjoying. I can't wait to see what happens next!!

Don't ever give up on hope. If you do, there is nothing left. Hope is life. -Rhett

I am in complete and utter shock with the way this story turned out. We found out about a few unanswered questions and some shocking revelations and now there are a few new secrets that we have to impatiently wait to have answered. Ugh, Ting is very good at leaving us hanging at the end of her books and this one is no different. But I am not one to add spoilers in my reviews so you will have to get your copy and find out what I am talking about.

"We are two halves of a heart beating as one." -Rhett

The characters are still as amazing and I still love them just as much in this story. The love and relationship between Rhett and Ava is so amazing and heartfelt and the line above should give you a bit of a teaser as to what I am talking about. I also love the new characters that are introduced into the story as well.

The storyline was phenomenal. Like I said above, many things happened that left me craving more and so many more questions. This is by far my favorite one and I will have to be patient and wait for the author to release the next book, and I do highly recommend this read because this was such an awesome adventure in the ISAN series.

Read on my blog: https://www.mayasbookshelves.com/gene...

Where do I even begin? This series has been incredible, to say the least. I finished the first two books in a few hours and this one was no exception. It was spectacular and captivating and I couldn’t take my eyes off the pages. I can’t even tell you which one was my favorite out of the three so far, they were all so amazing.

Plot
With Ava back with the rebels, their one goal is to bring down ISAN. She learns of some valuable information about a secret ISAN facility and where it is, but before she can take down the facility, the rebels must find and help a group of girls who show superpowers without the use of the Helix drug.

As rebel forces join, Ava and her team take on their most difficult task yet while also dealing with the destruction of their home base, caused by a traitor within.

Ava must make the choice between keeping her friends safe, or risking only her life.

Characters
Once again I have to say that Ava has developed into a character with a lot more to fight for. She mentions in the book that her feelings towards her friends are feelings that she’d have with family and although they aren’t related by blood, they are her family in every sense of the word. Not only has she grown from the ISAN soldier who kills just because her superiors said to, but she now has a team that she trusts and relies on to get her through the day and all of her serious missions. I think that as a character, Ava’s development is super cool to see, and I love how she’s become less of a cold-hearted soldier with nothing to fight for, to being someone who cares about others and wants what’s best for her friends. Along with this, we see her powers develop too which is really interesting, especially since we learn about who Ava’s twin is. It’s clear that in the next book(s) Ava’s power will become something she never expected and I’m really excited to see that develop.

Rhett has always been one of my favorite characters and it was pretty cool to his point of view throughout significant times in the book. Of course, his love for Ava is unwavering as always and I love their relationship so much. “Whatever it takes” has the power to either make me laugh or cry now! We can also see how much Ava relies on Rhett to keep her steady, and how insane he goes without her. His number one priority throughout the entire book is “I gotta get to my girl”, and it’s soooooo cute!

Again I have to say that I need to know more about Reyna! I kind of inferred that Reyna was a little jealous of Ava’s friendship with Brooke since Reyna was originally Ava’s best friend, however, we don’t see enough of Reyna’s past. There are little things here and there that we find out about her like she has a superpower that’s like a bubble shield? That’s super cool in my opinion, but I want to know more! She seems like a character with so much potential I just feel like I need her to open up a bit more so I can see who she really is and everything she’s been through.

Ozzie is adorable! He’s just such a little teddy bear. In the last book he admits to his feelings of missing Ava and I saw him open up a bit and in this book he opened up even more. I love his character and everything he is. He’s just such a softie and we also see him develop a relationship with a character that I’ve loved for the past two books as well and honestly I loved every second of it!

I also want to mention Gene. To be completely honest, he is kind of psychotic. He scared me sometimes by his weird attitude towards Ava and his little riddles and I think that’s exactly what the author wanted. He was an amazingly well-written character and he had me completely fooled. I’m not going to mention too much since I’m not going to spoil anything too serious, but wow.

I’m not going go into detail about all of the characters (because there were a lot of characters), but I’ll definitely mention a few more like Brooke, who I’ve always adored and her bubbly personality always makes me laugh; Tamara, who I can’t get enough of and how awesome her knife throwing skills are; Momo, because how adorable is she!

Setting
This book was kind of all over the place. We did mostly stay in the East territory, but we got to see the Black Market, more of Hope City, and some of the ISAN facility.

The Black Market seemed like one of those sketchy areas where all types of shady stuff went down. Obviously that’s what it’s supposed to be like and I definitely got the creeps from it. We met a few characters there and a few of them were pretty nice, but overall, not a place I’d love to visit!
Hope City has always been beautiful to me. Yeah, there are crumbling buildings and it’s not really up to standard for a home, but it’s Hope City and it’s beautiful because the people give it Hope. They’ve made it their home and I think it’s absolutely wonderful to see that.

Finally we see a bit of the ISAN facility and well, I didn’t like it to say the least. It sounded like a huge lab with doctors in white coats, and patients screaming. It wasn’t welcoming and it didn’t seem like a nice place, not that it’s supposed to. It just isn’t a place I’d ever ever like to see.

Writing
Once again I was blown away by Mary Ting and her writing style. It’s exactly the kind of writing you’d want in a fast paced story like this. The intensity kept me on edge the entire time I was reading the book and I couldn’t put it down, afraid I’d miss something! I finished it in a few hours again because I just couldn’t take my eyes off the pages and I wanted more, more, more.

I was captivated by each of the characters and their stories, I could imagine everything in my head, I felt every single thing that the characters felt.

In Conclusion…
I can’t believe the ending from this book, I can’t really believe any of it to be honest. This was such an incredible book that I couldn’t put it down and I need more! I can’t wait to read the next book (CODE) and learn more about the story and each of the characters!

Mary Ting’s GENES is an awe-inspiring addition to the International Sensory Assassin Network. GENES takes place where book two, HELIX left off. Ava and crew are searching for the HelixB88 anti-serum to help save Brooke. Meanwhile, Ava discovers some things about her family. This book is suitable for young adults.

I loved this novel. Ava and friends go through compelling situations in this book. There is never a dull moment in this story. GENES is emotional and extraordinary. The conspiracy and drama are noteworthy. Mary Ting continues to do a phenomenal job with the International Sensory Assassin Network.

I would love to see these books turned into a television or movie series. It would be visually appealing and thrilling. I am highly anticipating book four. I do not recommend reading this book as a stand-alone. You want all information from the previous books. I recommend this series to people who enjoy dystopian science-fiction novels like the Divergent series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Genes is book three in the ISAN series, and this one is a doozy. It's an emotional, dark read at times, and it really packs a punch. While there are some lighter moments, I found Genes to be a bit heavy. But it's a fantastic, action-packed read. There are so many revelations. So many new characters. Things are starting to get intense and desperate. Lives are on the line, and the war is just getting started. And that ending... let me tell you what...
I really enjoyed this book. I flew through it as quickly as I could, eager to see if Ava, Rhett, and the others would be able to get a leg up on ISAN. I won't spoil anything, but it's definitely not a pretty (or easy) time for them.
If you've read the first two books, definitely read Genes. And if you haven't started the series yet, well, what are you waiting for? Fans of dystopian fiction, this is a must read series!

Pet hate - novels that have too many characters that the story just becomes predominantly dialogue. This is a prime example of this! A lot of the dialogue could have been cut particularly Rhett's and Ava's continual over the top 'flirting'. Blegh!

This series just gets better and better. As the Rebels prepare for war, Rhett and Ava get closer and look for answers about their families. Rhett and Ave put themselves on the front line as outside forces unravel. Alliances will be tested, friendships will be formed and lives put on the line.

New allies are identified, new threats are uncovered as the team searches for answers and anticipates ISAN’s next move. This was a roller-coaster ride from the first page to the last. The ending was intense and holy cow, there are more jaw dropping revelations waiting for us fans. Mary Ting did not disappoint in this installment and I cannot wait to see how it all pays out next.

Ava is working to find the ingredients to make a cure for HelixB88 in the black market, but while doing so, she discovers the location of a hidden ISAN facility. This information could be just what the rebels need to bring ISAN down once and for all, but they first must find the female citizens that are displaying powers without an injection of Helix before ISAN gets to them first. While the rebels keep working toward their ultimate goal, ISAN enacts their plan to end the rebel force by using someone inside the rebel base to cause the base to collapse on itself. Ava will be forced to make a decision that could potentially lead to recapture or maybe even death.

Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. This review is only my opinion, and you may have your own, different one. I would take into consideration what I say, but do not make a decision about the book solely based off of this review. Additionally, the author sent me this book as a free review copy; however, this did not influence my review. This is 100% my honest opinion. Let's begin:

I'm officially giving Mary Ting the title "Queen of Making Books Fly By" because this is the third time I've watched the progress bar on one of her books make just one or two giant leaps. Granted, there were a couple of parts in this book that were a bit slower, mostly in the first half, but the book went by extremely fast overall. With the exception of 28 pages, I read this entire book in one day because it was that good. If that seems like a normal thing for you then I'll add this on- I took away an entire day from my Star Wars binge to read this. I repeat, I interrupted the marathon that I am highly invested in because I decided I couldn't only read a few chapters after starting. If you don't like Star Wars, replace that with whatever movie/show you love and would do a marathon for. If this doesn't speak volumes for how great this book is then I don't know what will.

When I sat down to write this review initially I was considering taking away half a star from my rating for those moments where the book got a little bit slow. Once I started writing, though, it just didn't feel right. Nothing in life constantly flies by (at least, nothing I can think of) and books are no exception. There has to be some slower parts to set up for those fast paced moments. The slower parts really weren't that bad anyways. I could see their importance to the book, so they didn't upset me much. Plus, the rest of the book- especially the second half- easily made up for them and then some.

One of Ting's other strengths is plot twists and mysteries. There were A TON of plot twists throughout this entire book that definitely kept me invested. I liked how the big cliff hanger at the end of Helix was answered almost right away in this book with a major plot twist that helped set the entire tone of the book. There were so many moments where I was shocked at something that was revealed (like at the end, I mean WHAT?!).

I also really liked the point of view additions of Mitch and Justine. These are two characters that I became very interested in during book 2, so I enjoyed getting in their heads at times. I think this was a great way to introduce new secrets and allow readers to see sides of them that I don't think we would get to see otherwise. I know these chapters were really impactful for me and changed my opinions on them at least a little.

Overall, this book was fantastic and a really strong addition to the series. It had me shocked and questioning the entire read, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I am SO excited for Code (book 4) and am sure I will devour that one in a day too if it is anywhere near as good as this one.

Thank you so much to Mary Ting and Angie from the Instagram page @marytingnews for the copy of this book!

WARNING: Spoilers for books 1 and 2.
The third book in the International Sensory Assassin Network (ISAN) series, GENES is a rollercoaster ride that never lets up. It picks up in the immediate aftermath of HELIX. We once again find Rhett, Ava and their renegade friends struggling for survival while trying to find a way to bring down ISAN. Except this time, they have the help of some super-powered little friends. At the end of HELIX, we learn a plethora of heinous acts ISAN has been up to. Armed with this knowledge, Ava is more determined than ever to end them and Mr. Novak, the leader of ISAN, once and for all. Ava now knows the identity of her twin, but they are not who she expected. As the rebels fight to save the lives of everyone they love, they willingly risk their own. There’s not much I can say without giving too much away, but this installment is action-packed with more romance, more love, and more loss than in the previous two books. It’s the very definition of a page-turner.

Plot
The story is well-plotted and moves almost constantly. The author does a good job of planting the seeds we need at just the right time for everything to fall inevitably into place. Ting is an expert at white-knuckle suspense and GENES is no different. The stakes are higher than ever and Ava and Rhett have so much more to lose.

Characters
Not only do we hear from Ava and Rhett again, but we get some new points of view. Rhett’s goes from first person to third and it was a little jarring at first, but I got used to it quickly. Ava continues her growth arc, learning that she is not responsible for everyone and everything. In addition to the new characters we met at the end of HELIX, there are more new characters, both good and evil. Some of the bad dudes aren’t as well developed as they could be, but that’s a small complaint in an otherwise stellar read.

What I Loved About GENES
1. Twists. There are more twists and turns, starting in chapter 1, that kept me on the edge of my seat.

2. Rhett. Once again, he is swoon-worthy and nearly perfect.

3. Mr. Novak. He is the type of villain I relish hating.

4. Ava. She has her moments when I want to slap some sense into her, but the more I learn about her backstory, the more I’ve come to understand her.

5. Momo. A new character, she’s spunk on steroids and may be my new favorite character. Watch out Rhett, you have some adorable competition for best character in the ISAN series.

Bottom Line
Another pulse-pounding edition in this high-tech, sci-fi dystopian romantic adventure.

Note: I did read the second book in the series before diving into this one, Since each book in the series starts where the last one left off, the series should be read as such and not each book as a stand-alone.

Back with the rebels, Ava now is facing all sorts of new troubles. One of her friends, who escaped ISAN with her, is dying, and they need to find the antidote (a difficult mix only the ISAN has) before her time runs out. Ava's blood test has also revealed who her twin is, and it's not who she was suspecting it to be...it's much worse. Add an ever growing ISAN threat, who is secretly plotting something huge, and the possibility of a traitor within the rebels' walls, and Ava can't pause to take a breath yet.

The weave of plots and subplots has grown thicker during this series and doesn't let up in this book. Ava has a lot to deal with, not only her own problems of adjusting back into the rebel group and adapting to the darkness her past might hold, but she has to save a life, figure out a new sibling relationships, deal with a past evil, and thwart the plans of ISAN, who wants nothing more than to capture and bring her back. Add the romance and some new friendships, and there isn't exactly a lot of time for the book to slow down. And...as extra kudos to the author...this all runs along smoothly!

Action and tension remain steady throughout the read, but sometimes, I wondered if there was almost too much going on. For example, a major bombshell is dropped in the first chapter but then hardly mentioned again until long past the first half of the book. As Ava faced ISAN and her past in an exciting scene, I couldn't help but pause and wonder what happened to that monumental moment in that first chapter. But then, I have to give poor Ava a break. She's up against so much. How could the girl deal with so many issues at once? But this speed also caused some hiccups with some of the new characters. While each one adds spice to the tale, some barely get enough page time for the reader to really connect with them. Plus, there are still tons of characters from the first two books, and even these aren't getting the depth they deserve...but again, it's a thick pool! And let's be honest, outside of Ava, this book isn't really about character depth. It's about action. Every turn adds new secrets and around every corner, there's another surprise. In other words, it's an exciting read and definitely kept me in the pages until the very end.

I received an ARC and enjoyed getting lost in the excitement of this story.

This review is in relation to book 3 in the series so while I will steer away from spoilers for this book, there may be spoilers of books 1 & 2

GENES picked up right from the end of Helix and if you're a follower of the series, you'd know that Ava had been impatiently waiting for a certain test result and we find out right at the beginning of this book with an immediate twist to the story. And this sets the tone of the book, many more twists, some kick-ass action, and lots of lovey doveys.

Ava & the rebels continued to find ways to thwart ISAN & Mr Novak but first they needed Brooke to wake up and Gene to cooperate. Gene has completely thrown them off by his very different attitude & personality. Even as he's kept tightly in isolation and continuous watch, he does not appear to be worried and continue to threaten the safety of the rebels. Ava was a little worried but she's also got other things to do. The mystery remains, however, just what can Gene do?

A fast paced read with loads of actions and plenty more romance. I love to see Rhett and Ava together though sometimes, I get frustrated because... hello, you're in the middle of a situation here?! But, as their friends said it, it's just how they are. The group of friends are just fabulous as ever and growing!! That last sentence-twist at the end of the book was mind boggling BUT *gosh* I'm getting frustrated with Ava too. I do want to find out what's really going on though so... onto book 4 (hopefully)!

Genes is the third installment in the ISAN series by Mary Ting. I read the first book early in the spring of 2020 and the second shortly after. As with Helix, I loved Rhett and Ava! Their connection is such an intense one.

I loved Ava's character in Genes. She's back with Rhett, finally starting to branch out from the world she had known as an ISAN assassin. At the very start of the book, she's about to find out who her twin is and let me tell you, it isn't who I thought it would be. While she's disappointed and seriously frustrated by who her twin ends up being, she takes most of it in stride.

Then there's Gene. At the end of Helix, Tamara (one of the members of Ava's old team) kidnaps him and takes him with the rebels. I didn't think much of Gene in the second book, but by the time we got to book three, he was one of those characters you have no choice but to hate. I don't think I could find one redeeming quality about him if I spent the next year trying.

Ozzie's character blossomed in this book (how silly does that sound!). He was more of a "sidekick" character in the last book but, now that Ava is firmly back with the rebels, Ozzie became more of a key player. I definitely liked the little twist his personal development took ❤️

It's War!
One thing that becomes crystal clear in Genes is that there is a war going on between ISAN and the rebels. ISAN is very clearly the "bad guy" and they're set on taking out anyone who doesn't join them. After all, it's war.

And that ending!
This isn't the final book in the series so the semi-cliffhanger-y ending was to be expected. But, the WAY IT ENDED ... I did not, in a MILLION YEARS see that one coming!

Wow! Mary continues to slay with this series! The build up of intrigue with the various twists and turns leading to the end of this installment... Oh yes, by end of this installment, I meant that darn cliffhanger! As with the previous two installments of the series, Mary ends GENES with me wanting more! Oh-my....WHAT!?! 😮 Yes, Mary did it... AGAIN! She wrote another action-packed thrilling YA story that kept me guessing and at the "edge of my seat" with anticipation of what's next for these characters!

From the first book to this third book, so much character and story development that continues to blow me away with the intensity of the varying twists in the storylines and abundance of details in this dystopian world of the International Sensory Assassin Network. GENES , as well as the previous two titles, are absolute page turners! I can already imagine this as a television series... Ha! I think that would be awesome to see this series come to life on the television screen. So, yeah, I am definitely am excited to get my hands on the next installment of the continuing saga in the ISAN series!

There's something missing.
For some reason that I can't understand this book took me way too long to finish and I have a bittersweet sensation about it.
It picks up right where the other one left the story. I appreciate that we had to see a lot more POVs not only Rhett's and Ava's, but to me that gave away a lot of the mystery without hocking me into the story.
It definitely was a good book, but it wasn't as good as the other ones which is really sad. I'm still looking forward to see how the story ends (even more after that crazy ending).
Ava did not grow up as a character in this one. She had an unbelievable way of making me upset since she stopped thinking clearly. I loved to get to know the new rebels and a lot more about our characters. However, there were some pretty boring parts that made me slow down my reading pace.
I'm looking forward to read Code soon! Can't wait to know how the author is going to fix the mess Ava made

Wow! Oh Wow!

This was a page turner at the edge of your seat ride. This was all over the place emotion wise and full of surprises.
I was a little disappointed at who Ava’s twin is, but I’m sure it will reveal why in the next book. I would like to reach in and twist it’s neck, what an ass.
The book had me totally engrossed and I couldn’t put it down. I loved how Ava and Rhett finally got some time together. Zen’s compound is amazing and the kids are awesome. I felt like I was there with them and a part of the team.
Then came the end and I knew for sure Ava would do something stupid. The last words were a slap in the face and if it is her father, I’m going to scream and holler. Oh please let me be wrong. So now I can’t wait for the next book.

An exciting read with plenty of heart-racing moments and twists that will turn the wheels on your brain and leave you breathless!

Compared to book two, which has two people's POVs, this third book has even more! It's not surprising as we have plenty of grounds to cover. However, the protagonist gets her story written in the first person and the rest of the characters, such as Rhett, Justine, Mitch, and Gene, use the third-person narration.

By the end of the story, you'll be cursing Ava for being stubborn, and your brain will be busy processing and assessing the situation for the possible outcome. This book is the best one in the series so far, with enough dose of romance, actions, teamwork, and a killer cliffhanger!

I received this copy for my honest review.

If I could give this book a 10-star review I would Author Mary Ting takes this book to a whole new place her writings are always on the edge of your seat but this book by far exceeds that. When one picks up this book you will find not only a romance, sci-fi but a bunch more in fact the book leaves you with a sense of awe and when things happen in real life you think wow one of Mary's books just came to life. This book along with her other reads will surely do that to you.
Thanks for giving me an AWE and YIKES moment and What the heck also. Mary Ting never disappoints.

Happy Reading

Absolutely fantastic! This is a ride that has more twists and turns than any roller coaster I've ever been on! The mind blowing revelations that lead to more questions, the WTF moments, the sweet and romantic moments, friendship and hope, failure and betrayal, this book has it all. Each book gives you all that you were hoping for and leaves you yearning for the next one!
Rhett and Ava are amazing characters and just make my heart beat a little harder. The friendship, relationships, and trust are ones we can only hope to have. So much action packed into these pages, you'll be done and begging for more before you even realize it! I hope this series never ends!

Firstly this series has been a thrilling journey. The previous books were awesome and I really enjoyed them.

Gene's i really enjoyed. It gripped me from the beginning. These are action packed reads with sharp twists and turns. A romance to die for.

I thought Gene's was going to be the final book in the series and I'm thrilled it's not. The ending was so good, but I cant help but feel sorry for Ava and even more so for Rhett.

I'm not a great fan of Cliff hangers. However they do leave you busting to find out what happens, which I am. I cant wait to read on and find out what happens.

Fantastic read.

First: Read the other 2 books that are out so far! This one continues the story from #2.
Ava has escaped from ISAN again! She is with the rebels in their base but most importantly she is with Rhett again. She has managed to get Brooke and Tamara out with her. Tamara also brought Gene along to carry Brooke who was passed out. Ava finds out that Gene is her twin brother. Unfortunately he isn't the twin she wishes she had. Why does her twin have to be such a rude person? Why does he act this way? What doesn't she know?

Amazing

What an awesome book. Picks up right where the 2nd left off. So many questions answered but so many more questions I need answered.
This has been an amazing journey so far. I can't wait to find out what happens in the facility. Rhett is going to lose his mind when he finds out Ava did not listen.... But her mom.. and Novak. What the hell just happened. Definitely gotta dive immediately into the next book.
Do yourself a favor and read this series. There is so much going on you will not want to put it down. Love, betrayals, so many questions. Ok off to the next!

This tale has more layers than I ever imagined, & I have enjoyed every single page. I adore these characters that Ting brings to life in such vivid detail. In each installment I am simply blown away. Always entertaining & exciting. New additions, loads of action, many questions (some finally answered & some new to leave us biting nails), tons of feels, & a very real desire to have more, more, more! I can not wait to see what she unleashes next!!
