Water Pollution

We cannot live without water. But this water is now being polluted throughout the country. If it continues, potable water will be in want. The main cause of the water pollution is the untreated sewage of cities which is directly drained off into the rivers. The chemical wastes released from the factories, detergent used by households, pesticide washed out from farmland and immersion of clay idols pollute water. Oil tankers are usually washed at the ports with hot water. Power stations also regularly release hot water into rivers. Dead animals are often thrown into water.

Besides, garbage and plastic packets dumped on the river banks glide into water to pollute it. The effect of water pollution on human life is great. The polluted water causes dangerous disease. Aquatic animals and plants are killed. So people should be made aware of its danger. Sewage treatment plants must be set up along the course of rivers. And dumping of garbage on the river banks should be banned.
