A: Thanks for reaching out Ed! Gosh, I can't imagine why this ammo shouldn't work well in your AXIS XP. Given your signature I suppose you're aware that 7.62x51 is safe to fire in a rifle chambered for 308. Even SAAMI doesn't consider 308 unsafe to fire in a rifle chambered for 7.62x51. If I may ask, where have you heard that this particular ammo isn't good for your rifle? Someone may know something that I don't!

A: Sorry for not having that info on hand Shane! I've dug around on the internet and couldn't find a reliable source. Emailing the factory in Pakistan was about as helpful as you might imagine. My best and honest guess is around 2,730 fps.

A: Thanks for reaching out Ken! The photos on this page are representative of the ammo's condition – we didn't go out of our way to only photograph sterling specimens. I'm afraid I can't speak for the conditions this ammo was stored in for the past 20-some-odd years. A military warehouse in Pakistan, I imagine. We've already sold most of our stock of this ammo, and we haven't received any negative reviews (or any reviews all, to be more accurate). But it certainly should work for target practice and range shooting!

A: Hi Rob! I don't see why it should. This ammo may be at least 30 years old, but it's not reloaded. It is factory loaded Pakistani military surplus.

A: Yes sir! The 7.62x51 shares virtually identical dimensions with the 308, and it's loaded to a slightly lower pressure. SAAMI doesn't even consider it unsafe to fire 308 in a rifle chambered for 7.62x51 because the two rounds are so similar.

A: Technically they are, although reloading with Berdan primers is so troublesome that most people wouldn't bother. Berdan primers have two flash holes instead of one, so they're hard to line up correctly. Their sizing is also less standardized. And perhaps worst of all, since a Berdan primer's anvil isn't integral, the part of the case that provides resistance against the firing pin actually wears down every time it's fired. Again, you theoretically could reload this brass, but I wouldn't advise it at all.
