This 7.62x51 ammunition hails all the way from the Pakistan Ordnance Factories. We would imagine the government of Pakistan had it manufactured some time during the 1990s as a way of conducting … let’s call it “diplomacy” with the nation of India. Fortunately there was no need for such “international politics,” so Pakistan did the only sensible thing with it and shipped it overseas for the enjoyment of American gun nuts.

A couple key things to bear in mind with this military surplus ammo. First, its 147 grain bullet has a bimetal jacket. The thrifty nation of Pakistan decided to use much of their limited supply of copper for other things, so they strengthened the interior of the jacket with economical yet magnetic steel.

Second, this ammo is Berdan primed. It’s a more economical type of primer, and the ignition it delivers is indistinguishable from the more common Boxer. That said, the Berdan primer’s design pretty much makes reloading these rounds’ brass cases impossible – or at the very least not worth all the effort.
