I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via Lovebookstours as part of the book tour.

Fealty of the Fallen is the first book in a new paranormal romance series and pulled me in from the first few chapters. I loved how the mystery element to the story and the slow-burn chemistry between the main characters Dante and Diablo. I flew through this book and when the main twist occurred it left my head spinning! This is definitely a book all fellow fantasy lovers like myself need to read and I can't wait to dive back into this world!
The book is a paranormal romance but has a great storyline to it and a great friendship group between Diablo, Dante, Lila and Vinny who are couples but also found family. The word building in this book is amazing and I loved the pace of the story too! I highly recommend this one!!

Oh My Gosh! Oh My Gosh! Oh My Gosh! This book is soo good!! I LOVE Dante and Diablo so much! There love is genuine and fated. I love the world building. There are so many twists and turns you will never see it coming. I read Nev’s books before this one. I can see we’re she gets her tenacity from. I am so ready to read the next book! Please go read it! It’s amazing!

Document 1
First, there was light.
Then came the dark.
Then an angel,
That loved like a heart.
She asked for a favor, And I had to oblige.
As her place in Heaven, Was of equal size.
Her tears, how they flowed,
Her wings, how they cried.
The light she possessed,
Fading from sight.

Document 2
Yes, I started the War, Free will or above.
But it was also about, That one reckless love.
There's always a price,
When you choose to deceive.
The one who created,
All of you and me.
You, my dear Fallen, Were born from this fight.
The wants of but one,
Coming at a great price,

Document 3
On this day, you must choose,
One of the sides.
In which to exist, And forever align.
Me, or alone,
There is but one choice.
For once you have chosen, It is forever your voice.

Document 4
To those who swear loyalty,
Forever you'll reign.
To the undecided, Forever your pain.
Bound for eternity,
To one most like you.
Your fate for your role, It is what I will do.
But for the angel who loved, And the one that remains.
They will sit at my throne,
If one and the same.

This was my first book by D.S.Simmons. I loved the writing style and the characters. I haven’t read a lot of books about Angels/daemons. I wasn’t sure about Dante and Diablo as characters at first. I wasn’t a big fan but gradually I warmed up to them and I really liked there dynamic which reminded me bit like a enemies o lovers but not really that vibe at all more like fated romance that someone was making not happen. I loved the world and writing style.

Thank you to the author for sending me a copy of this book for the book tour!

This book was so much fun! I didn't quite know what to expect going into it, but I quickly was sucked into the world and into the characters. It's got kind of a dark, biker bar vibe at the start. The chemistry between the protagonists leaps off the page from the moment they first interact. There's mystery that is hinted at slowly at first while giving the romance element space to blossom before the mystery takes centre stage.

I love the various relationships in this. Dante and Diablo obviously, but also Dante's and Vinny's friendship, Dante's and Lila's friendship, Lila and Diablo, and of course the spicy romance between Lila and Vinny. The four characters as a unit is fantastic and I love them all together. And I love JJ so much and need to know more about what happens to him at the end!

There's a good amount of spice in this one! The first spice scene is hot hot hot and then it carries through the book. I love the romance between Dante and Diablo and how much traveling they do (though Dante's carbon footprint must be MASSIVE).

I didn't love that Diablo's name was Diablo but that's just a small thing. My biggest issue is the way things are withheld and revealed. There's quite a big twist, which made sense to withhold, but it felt so awkward to have a character in first person withholding that information. This happened with smaller details as well. Instead of explaining out the plan Vinny comes up with in the end, it just simply says 'He told me his plan' and I don't get why it's not fleshed out then. There's a few moments like that, where what is being withheld doesn't feel like it needs to be withheld, so the fact that it is becomes annoying.

That being said, I cannot wait to pick up book 2 in this series! This is a great start to a very promising series.

I absolutely completely ate this book up I just couldn't get enough of it ! There are plenty of characters that you will love to read but especially Diablo for me .

The author does a fantastic job of describe the world they have created , you can close your eyes and you are right there , oh how you will wish you could be transported there! I am very picky with which dark romance books I read but there was no way I could say no to this one! The book grabs you , hooks you, it is fast paced with plenty to keep you going back for more.

An absolutely brilliant read ! This book is aimed at 18+ due to some themes.

I absolutely loved this book! It is an enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance, with fabulous world building, characters and plot. I also found it a fast read and I liked the author’s writing style.

I was so immersed in the story I felt as though I had been transported directly into the fantasy world the author has created from the very first page.

I absolutely loved the bond Dante, Diablo, Vinny, and Lila have. I thought this really added depth to their characters. Not only are they two great couples, they are also a family who would do anything for each other. I thought this tied in nicely with the plot.

I would recommend this to people who enjoy paranormal romance as well as readers who enjoy the enemies-to-lovers trope.

I knew I was going to love this as soon as I set eyes on the cover, and oh em gee IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Angels, daemons and the undecided. Dante and Diablo. Yes, this. Yes, all of this. This book is everything - and it’s a cliffhanger so I’m so glad I have book two sat here waiting. I am INVESTED.

If you love fantasy romance please PLEASE go and read this book. The setting, the characters, the spice, and everything else is just perfect! You won’t hear from me for a while because I’m about to pull an all nighter reading book two!

D.M. Simmons has created a fantasy world that captivated me to no end, and had me feeling that it was real & that I was there live and in person. I really don't want to get into many details since going in blind with no preconceived notions from other peoples reviews will make it more powerful & beautiful, plus there's a ton of supernatural suspense bringing the twists in hot. Dante was our resident anti-hero (worst of The Fallen) who has been turning others who haven't embraced the dark side in whatever ways he has to do, and right now, he's after Diablo, who doesn't want any part of it. He's super set in his ways, but what he didn't count on was Diable turning his life upside down. I loved these two together once Dante chilled out, but seriously the plot was crazy intense with all the suspense. It all led to a brutal cliffhanger ending that has me dying inside because the wait will be super hard for my impatient self. Trust me when I say, even if you don't read paranormal on the regular (like me), you want to experience this world! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I gotta say this book started hella slow. I was worried I wasn’t going to be a fan and considering the subject matter, that was going to make me sad. The beginning feels like a miscommunication trope and I honestly hate that so much BUT it is not, it just has those vibes.

Fallen angels? Uh yes please! I find the route this book took with the fallen angels story to be incredibly unique and interesting! I’m afraid to say too much cuz *spoilers* but I can say that this book includes many big players we’re all aware of - from Luke to Lilith - and its set in EDEN! Yes. Eden. Oh My Goodness. Look I grew up Catholic so this setting as well as the twisted route of this story is epic especially when its compared to the stories I’ve grown up having drilled into my head. I love this take on the fallen. It’s absolute perfection.

I gotta go with ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ though because that beginning was rough for me. It’s definitely worth the read!

I really liked this!! I've always been a fan of the fallen angel x demon/daemon trope and here is yet another example of why.
I loved Diablo and Dante together *and* as individuals. I did think Dante was a bit of stubborn jerk at the beginning but he definitely won me over. and Diablo? I loved her from the start. plus, she has a whole library in her house? SO jealous, it sounds amazing. I love how strong she is and I thought her character development was incredible too. I really need to know more about their past tho, I was hoping we'd get a little bit more of that in little flashbacks or something, but we didn't. and that's okay! it didn't make me like the story any less, but it was just something I was hoping to see.
I was hooked from start to finish, their story had me invested and I literally couldn't put it down.
I definitely did not expect those last few plot twists, and I am going to be jumping into the next one ASAP. overall, I thought the writing was good, loved the pacing and the characters, I was pretty much hooked from page one. I definitely recommend if you're looking for some angels, demons, forbidden ish (you'll learn why I say that if you read it), forced proximity, and found family :)

Omg....what a fascinating paranormal enemies-to-lovers tale. Fealty of the Fallen was my first novel by this author and I enjoyed it.

I will admit, it took me a little while to get into the story as I didn't care for Dante at the start,  however in no time I fell in love with both him and Diablo and couldn't put this book down. These two has intense chemistry and some hott scorching scenes and I loved seeing how their relationship changed.

However it was the plot that had me hooked. There were twists and turns, mystery and suspense and some questions that started coming up,  however as answered were eventually found I was felt speechless wondering how it would all play out.

The story ends in a cliff hanger and I can't wait to see what happens next in book 2. It was a fantastic novel and I would highly recommend it to lovers of dark paranormal romance.

OMG! What a unique, creative and utterly intriguing story Fealty of the Fallen was. It had me completely captivated right from the very start and kept me riveted to my seat, biting my nails with anticipation of what was going to happen next, and holding my breath right to the very end. It was dark, twisted, intense, suspenseful, and so damn sexy. I could not get enough of it, and I never wanted it to end.

The imagery and world building was exceptional and brought Eden to life on the pages. The characters were outstanding and well fleshed out. The main characters, Dante and Diablo were phenomenal. Dante started off as this arrogant, angry, domineering, a-hole that was only set on getting exactly what he wanted from Diablo – her fealty. But then he slowly shows us his softer side. Diablo, on the other hand, started off showing us that she might be sweet and innocent, but she also has a badass side to her.

I loved the dynamics between Dante and Diablo. They have a unique and undeniable connection that keeps them together. But they also have explosive chemistry that pours off the pages when they are together. You could feel the intensity of the slow buildup to what was sure to be a kindle combusting (and panty melting) moment between them. I could not wait for the fireworks to go off.

I loved all of the secondary characters in this story. Vinny and Lila had me giggling throughout even when things were supposed to be serious. The four of them together (Dante, Diablo, Vinny and Lila) make quite the fantastic family.

This was a really well written paranormal romance that was filled with so much suspense and all kinds of twists and turns throughout that it continually shocked me and had my head spinning. The ending has left me speechless and now I shall be waiting on bated breath for the next book to come out.

What an unique point of view to angels and, most importantly, fallen angels!

In this dual point of view book we see Eden, a city of fallen angels and soulless, through Diablo's and Dante's eyes. One is a fallen and another, a daemon, yet Dante's biggest goal is too get the fealty from the fallen and forever gain her loyalty to him and to their leader, Luke. However, things start to go whole other direction fast!

It's paranormal romance book, so the main storyline is the relationship between Dante and Diablo, occasionally you can even forget it's fantasy books. It has some spice, well written and mild in flavour, but worked nicely with the atmosphere of the book. Also, it's quite slow burn at first, so brace yourself for around 18 chapters of waiting.

I must say, the mystery element is very fitting. In a closed city for fallen angels there is some sketchy shit happening? Possibly stalker or brewing... what??? Yes, please, tell me more!

There is only couple small things I didn’t like.
One, the "innocent, sweet girl - fuck around asshole guy" dynamics. I don't like when the girl is always the innocent one, often virgin, not even been kissed and he fucks every girl that's willing. But even though Dante represents this stereotype, I loved her character. She is sweet, caring, but have spice in her and can be really badass when needed.
Second, I wanted to learn more about the angels, daemons and others. Do they have powers? Are their blood black? Where is God? I just missed the background for the mythology.

Overall, I truly enjoyed the book. For fantasy romance - it was light and easy to read. Characters are lovable, Vinny is so sweet (for a daemon). The family element fit well and ending... answered a lot of questions, but created a lot new ones too. Really excited for the next one in the series!

Cover appreciation! So dark and mysterious! Love it! I particularly like the beautiful snake coiled in the corner!

Our tale of destruction and satisfaction begins with a bit of light action and some backstory. The story itself is an enemies to lovers theme and is done very well. I don’t like it when these kinds of stories are rushed, this is slow and steady but never boring, very well paced and pulls you deeper and deeper as the story goes on.

The backstory sets the scene for what is to come, we learn that there has been a war in heaven, the disgraced angels were stripped of their wings and plummeted to earth making them fallen angels. They are divided into two sides: daemons and the undecided, with each daemon bonded to an undecided. The daemons only have one thing on their minds and that is to get the undecided to pledge their fealty (to join them).

For 5,000 years, undecided Diablo has fiercely resisted her bond with the daemon Dante, who is driven by desire and corruption and is determined to get Diablo’s fealty, but unfortunately for him, Diablo is determined to keep her freedom and doesn’t plan on giving in any time soon, and believe me she’s a feisty one!

I found myself falling in love with the characters, they are not perfect, they have flaws and feel very real. I was drawn to the very arrogant Dante, anyone who loves a bad boy will flock to him without a doubt!

Overall, great plot, well developed and interesting characters, action is plentiful and the writing style is absorbing. You will find it hard to take a break when reading this one and the ending OMG THE ENDING! Just give me a second book! Like, now PLEASE!

5 stars!

I thoroughly enjoyed the book, even if it was slow for me to pick up at first (but that's just the ADHD in me trying to plow through the establishing content). Once I was really into the story, it was nice to see the relationship between Diablo and Dante. Dante captured my attention a bit more personality-wise as I felt he had a lot more diversity between hobbies and ways to move about the world, but I suppose that would come of an immortal soul who can travel the world freely.

The only thing that really bugged me was the motorcycles. As a 'backpack' rider in motorcycle culture myself, I've picked up a lot on things that come with the territory. So when motorcycles were used a few times, I thought the author might not know that much about bike culture because a few tidbits felt off here and there.

--Aside Note to the motorcycle thought: particularly the carrying load of bikes - as while a simple change of clothes under a seat makes sense, but a full face helmet --which is what I'm assuming they used when Diablo says she flips the visor down-- wouldn't fit in such a small under seat compartment (those things won't even fit in most saddlebags that are much bigger than under seat compartments), let alone two of them; and in addition to that, the balance of a bike would be thrown off to have Diablo as the rider and Dante as a passenger (the backpack position), especially for someone who has never officially driven a bike... I'm a light rider myself -I prefer the backpack position- and when training, my rider has never ridden on the back because his weight would be too much for me to balance in curves. It's not even a question if I'll ever have my rider as my backpack because I'm so petite compared to him that it just wouldn't be physically possible. But that's me rambling about specific knowledge that probably wouldn't be a problem for most readers due to the suspension of belief effect of fiction.--

I wish the scene where Dante learns Diablo was trying to break the bond was just slowed down a tad. He seems to accept it without question, and then we never have him reflect back on it. I was dying to know how it affects the way he feels because even though I love that he accepts her actions, I think it would still hurt him to some degree to learn about it even though he understands why she was doing it.

The resolve of the novel was also extremely quick as though there wasn't enough time to set up the next novel because the climax and the resolution almost merged together (?). At least that's how I read it. I feel it would've helped to show the escape and them getting on the plane. Maybe Diablo is so overcome with fear over Dante's condition she almost hovers (like actually physically, unintentionally with her wings since she does briefly say "still familiar after all this time" like she can easily tap into the muscles of her wings). So I hope these first few hours after aren't time skipped over in the next book since the momentum of this moment is so charged with emotions from the whole cast. It would be such a good time to have reflections from each of the characters as they find their footing with the results of the climax.

What I loved most though was Diablo showing interest in Dante beyond the surface-level details. I think its really common in these times of books that the love interest, alpha character only ever has these surface-level wimps and desires toward the female protagonist. Though he lavishes her with all the attention, the female protagonist doesn't reciprocate to the same deeper level of attention he gives her. No, Diablo doesn't have the means to 'spoil' Dante like he does her with the opera and rare books, but she does relax into his interests in music and wants to be a part of the darker sides of him that he doesn't even want to have her near. She took the time to notice and appreciate Dante for himself rather than just the attention he gave her. And I think that helps support the concept of her eternal love for him from before the Fall because we don't have a lot of details of what happened for her to fall in love in the first place, but you can tell that she just loved Dante as is without the material means of the world before they fell to earth.

I'll be looking forward to the next one. :)

Fallen angels… fight fire with fire. who will get burnt!

This book is a solid 5stars from me. I love the characters, the twists and turns (very glad @dmsreadwrite told me to hold my phone tight… or I would have needed a new one).

OMG!!!!! What an ending and why (very glad I don’t have to wait because I would cry, big ugly sobs). I think that some times stories give us too much info that we may not need. You don’t get to know your close friends in 24 hours, may know you will be friends but no reason why. For me this is just the perfect story balance. Well not the ending! Seriously that may take my heart a beat to recover from the shock.

So with my heart stopped and my heart and sleep deprived mind reeling. All I can say is give this one a go. And with a cover page like this I need the physical book.

Thank you @dmsreadwrite for giving me a much needed escape in this book. It has been the medicine that I needed to lift my spirits.

An enemies to lovers PNR Romance with a slow burn and a unique take on Angels & Daemons (Demons)!

Diablo and Dante are part of a group of fallen who are cursed to spend their days sans wings and apart from their bonded with the exception of a 10 day period every 100 years. But there’s a catch… I’m stopping myself here - I went in blind and was entranced.

This is a no spoiler review, so I’m keeping it short and sweet! Dante is our antihero and his character ARC is beautifully written. I loved Diablo from the beginning and even more so as the book progressed. She was all things good and light and was always thinking of others before herself. There is some spice, but it was definitely in addition to the well structured plot and complex world. Also, the cliffhanger left me reeling! Can I get the next book now?

Having not read any of Simmons’ work before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, however, I was immediately intrigued. Fealty of the Fallen a delicious dive into this indulgent world for newcomers.

Eden, the city of fallen angels, is where we meet Dante and Diablo; the dark and the undecided. The story of fallen angels and demons is nothing new, but the dynamic between these two is unlike anything I’ve read. Told in alternating POV, the drama unfolds and so does the heat 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Enemies to lovers and fated mates are two of my favorite tropes and they work so well here.

It’s a very slow burn romance, but it really grabbed me. The characters have such depth and their suffering is palpable. This fantasy world is beautifully tragic and one I couldn’t get enough of.

I have only started reading fantasy the last few months (thanks to LBT) and I’m so glad I did. Because of this, D. M. Simmons is a new author for me and I will definitely read more by her.

She has created an interesting world where fallen angels have a choice to make and Diablo didn’t want to change her decision. I loved her relationship with Dante. There was tension and chemistry and I wanted them to be together from the start.

There are some great characters. I love Dante’s relationship with his best friend Vinny and how they take his angel Lila in to their chosen family. The support they have for each other without question. I love JJ and how he fits in to the story.

I loved the ending and I can’t wait for the next instalment to see where this leads!

I also need to add that the cover is just stunning!

Thank you to @lovebookstours and @dmsreadwrite for the gifted review copy of this book.

Loved the elements to this book. Both Dante and Diablo are powerful in their own rights and that only added to their aspect of the story. I liked Lila and Vinny's characters, they were mentioned throughout the book and added their little bits to the story as it progressed. The chemistry between Diablo and Dante was very clear but would they succumb? When the angels fell, they had to either swear fealty to Luke or see their true love for 10 days every 100 years. Dante and diablo are bound to each other, their connection is electric. Aimed at 18+, there are some very steamy parts!

Kept giving me Lucifer vibes and loved it! A very good start to a series and cannot wait for the next one! Bring it on!!

This book is recommended for 18yrs+
Told from a dual POV Dante and Diabo.
Dante has ten days to convince Diablo to swear loyalty to their leader Luke and then she will be free from Eden. Every century it's the same game between the two of them century after century. This time though things are different, for both of them....
A great start to the series. Good main characters and the secondary characters are interesting too.
There is more going in the background to make it more than just a generic romance.

I did things a little backwards and read the Children of the Fallen series before I read After the Fall which is the Omnibus of D.M Simmons’ Fealty Fallen and Legion of the Queen.

Can you read them in either order? Yes. But should I have read these books first? Also yes. Now don’t get me wrong. You will absolutely be able to follow the storyline of Childrens of the Fallen without these two books but having Dante and Diablos history and what they went through adds soo much depth to The Childrens of the Fallen series and character development.

If you love angles demons and spice this this is the series for you!

This book was so good. Dante and Diable are everything!!

It's hard to believe that this book is set over 10 days. There is so much going on. All the suspense and mystery and giving into their feelings. Diablo and Dante have all the chemistry, and boy is the tension high until they finally give in.

The world building was really good. we got most of the information about the fall pretty early on, but the bug revelation comes close to the end.

Can we just talk about that cliffhanger....... I am now going to have to go and buy the second book straight away because I NEED to know what is going to happen, I am so inves in these characters.

This was the first book I read by the author, and I am now going to purchase their entire back catalogue because of how much I loved this book!!

WOW! I love a book that involves angels and demons, but this was a new and exciting spin focused on just the Fallen.

Diablo & Dante have such great chemistry & the spice was really great. I love how it played off the fact that everyone has a little bit of darkness in them, but what they CHOOSE to do if what makes them who they are.

Angels have human-like qualities, make mistakes, and more that anything.. Love is the greatest power of all.

When the angels fell they were cursed to swear fealty to Luke or live a life of anguish, only seeing their love every 100 years.
Diablo and Dante have such great chemistry, even when sparring with words you can feel the undercurrent.
Lila and Vinny are great side characters with their loyalty in friendship to the two leads.
It's set in Eden which had a very Los Angeles downtown vibe to it. The book reminded me often of the TV series Lucifer. I could definitely see Tom Ellis playing Dante in a live action version of this.
Full of action, excitement and drama and ending on a hell of a cliffhanger. What a start to a series!

Holy cliff hanger Batman! This book sure ends with a bang.

Starting out I was unsure because this book has a lot of dialogue and no opener to tell you who people are but it’s a quick and easy jump feet first into the story.

We get a alternating point of view from Dante and Diablo who are out two main characters.

This is a paranormal romance with the following tropes:
Forbidden romance
Enemies to lovers
Slow burn
Forced proximity
Dark Romance

The title is literally great bang-for-your-buck, but I would like a little more detail on the settings from Simmons before I feel like I can give a 5-star rating. The characters in this story feel significantly deeper than the locales the story goes to, and I do think there could be more unique artifacts added to the universe in the sequel. Didn't feel like we got to see enough of David. There are are wide-range of personality types that come into play throughout the narrative, and I really enjoyed reading from both Diablo's and Dante's POVs.

Clearly there's some biblical and Paradise Lost (Milton) naming conventions at play here, which I thought worked very well. I definitely think there could have been a little bit more action and violence to offset the sex and digital sleuthing on the end of the two main characters and their Techie contact. The plot twists are pretty good, the book didn't overstay its welcome, but there's just not enough gunplay in the lead up to the final mission so that it feels a little glossed over when it at last, comes out to play.

The character dynamics between some of the side characters and the rank-systems between the 'Fallen' and 'Soulless' and so on is fairly well fleshed-out. I thought having Dante and Vinny go to get tattoos periodically throughout the 300+ page-length was a great call on how to establish a tone and convey exposition. Definitely hope the sequel can deliver on the groundwork this one laid for a conclusion that ought to compel readers to come back.

Keep at it, DM! I'm here hoping you'll continue to write in a style where you get your feet wet like you have so far, and your future settings bring bazookas to the flare guns of other similar works.

Incredibly addicting

I couldn’t put it down. Fealty of the Fallen screams of seduction, love, hate, rage, and vengeance. Nothing in this book disappoints.
