REVIEW: Those Three Little Words by Meghan Quinn

5 SMOOCHES!

SYNOPSIS:

I knocked up my best friend’s sister.

Figured I would get straight to the point because how it happened is a mere snippet of the story I have to tell. The real meat and potatoes is what happened after.

Let’s start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news . . . together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting and then BAM! I’m going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist.

It wasn’t pretty.

Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Given how much I’ve pined for the girl, you would think that wouldn’t be a hardship. Wrong.

This is my one shot to win my teammate back. Pacey is the only family I’ve got, so hooking up with his sister isn’t a mistake I can make twice . . . despite the fact that she’s pregnant with my child.

But with every mood swing, every pair of pants that doesn’t fit right, and every late night run to find the perfect donut, I’m finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend’s little sister.

Especially when she kisses me…

REVIEW:

Those Three Little Words is the second book in The Vancouver Agitator’s series from Meghan Quinn, and I am absolutely loving this group of hockey players. They’re funny, they’re sweet, and they’re sexy as all get out. It’s a wonderful group of characters to showcase Quinn’s innate sense of humor while highlighting the slightly awkward and surprisingly emotional love stories she’s known to pen.

Eli and Penny’s story was a trope-tastic delight. Part forbidden romance, part surprise baby, Quinn swirled a best friend’s sister romance with a dash of workplace drama, a splash of sports romance and a pinch of friends-to-lovers. There were many layers of complication for this couple to navigate on the way to their happily ever after. Between Penny’s wildly outrageous pregnancy mood swings and Eli’s complete coupledom cluelessness, it was a fiery, feisty, funny fight to the finish. Their back and forth banter stoked the blazing inferno of attraction between them, and I loved their natural, effortless chemistry. But Quinn never fails to knock my socks off with the dash of genuine emotion, and Eli’s backstory made my heart ache for this man.

Those Three Little Words was flirty, fun and full of feels. An unputdownable, pleasure-to-read, I loved Eli and Penny’s crazy, complex coupling and the deliciously difficult slow-burn build-up of their relationship. This wonderful cast of side characters nearly steal the show, elevating this story to something truly memorable. I devoured this book in a day, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next hockey player’s story! Five smooches from me for Those Three Little Words by Meghan Quinn!
