Sick of the constant betrayal, I’ve sworn off men for good. But there’s no cure for my attraction to Dr. Nicholas Barnes.

I’m a magnet for egotistical playboys. It’s been years since I’ve let anyone in. Pursuing me is merely a challenge for this overconfident ladies' man.

What else could this handsome, arrogant surgeon want with me?

I have great friends and a job in the ER I love.
A good night’s rest is what I need. One little sleeping pill couldn’t hurt. Could it?

But this irresistible doctor even seduces me in my dreams. It’s a delicious temptation I don’t want to stop.

Yet what happens when the line between fantasy and truth becomes blurred? When you can no longer live with the constant deprivation?

This man is beautiful. He’s charming. And he could be the love of my life or my complete destruction.

I get a T L Swan vibe from this book, it was so good. This book is told in the POV of Kat and Nick, some of the chapters go back to Kat’s past to explain why she is the way she is.

Kat is a Physician Assistant for her local hospital and loves her job. She has sworn off men after a horrible history with them, she doesn’t trust them. She now just enjoys working and spending time with her friends. She isn’t short of male attention but she is just not interested. She suffers from severe night terrors about her past and her friend Jake suggests she try some sleeping pills, this helps with the sleep, but then she has different types of dreams, which are definitely not terrors and finds herself waking up in the clothing in which she was wearing in her dreams?

Nick is divorced after his wife cheated on him. He decided to change Hospitals as his last hospital was a gossip machine and he wanted a new start. He is a orthopaedic surgeon and is trying to get a name for himself at the new hospital. He isn’t interested in a relationship, just no strings fun after his shattering divorce.

Kat is on her way to work and is running late, she sees the last space in the car park and makes a bee line for it. As she gets out the car she is looked at by a handsome man in aviator sunglasses, however he isn’t happy. “𝙉𝙞𝙘𝙚. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙚, 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙤 𝘼𝙣𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙞.”

After Kat and Nick’s first encounter the tension is there and it stays there, I love the banter in this book. Nick and Kat find each other attractive but they don’t make it known to each other. Nick doesn’t want to sleep with anyone at work and Kat just doesn’t want to sleep with anyone full stop.

One of my favourite scenes.
““𝘽𝙤𝙩𝙝 𝘿𝙧 𝙇𝙚𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙣𝙟𝙤𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙮,” 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖 𝙬𝙖𝙜𝙜𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙨. “𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙯𝙮. 𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙤𝙣 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙨, 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙨.” “𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩, 𝙆𝙖𝙩,” 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨. “𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡 ‘𝙬𝙚’𝙫 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙣” 𝙄 𝙨𝙢𝙞𝙧𝙠 “𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙,” 𝙄 𝙜𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙨 𝙄 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙢, 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝘿𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙨. “𝙄 𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙨𝙚, 𝘿𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙨. 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙪𝙣𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙚. 𝙄 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙠 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝘿𝙧 𝙇𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙮.” “𝙉𝙞𝙘𝙚” 𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙪𝙩.”

I throughly enjoyed this book, it was a fun, hot romance. Really liked the hospital theme as well. I haven’t read a hospital romance before. I cannot wait for book 2 to come out next month.

I would recommend that you read this book to find out what happens with this tension between Nick and Kat.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Just finished the trilogy . . .
Nick Barnes wears arrogance like a suit of armor. One I want to peel off with my teeth.
Book 1 Deprivation: 4 STARS
Book 2 Fractured: 5 STARS
Book 3 Stronger: 5+ STARS

I realized as soon as I began Deprivation that the author was playing the long game. She was setting the stage, developing the characters, and building the tension - all in the name of a future payoff. And boy, did she succeed!

The series built on itself so nicely. The ending of book 1 shocked the hell out of me and shoved me right into book 2, but it was the third book that completely knocked my socks off. I became ridiculously invested in Nick and Kat and their tumultuous relationship. I just couldn't get enough!

If you're into . . .
✔ slow burn contemporary romance
✔ enemies to lovers
✔ a workplace setting (in an ER)
✔ a relatable, work-in-progress heroine
✔ an arrogant, yet vulnerable hero
✔ some serious twists and turns
. . . you've found your next read!

Realistic portrayal of healthcare!

First thing I had to ask was if LM Fox has a background in medicine (sure does!) because the scenes in the ED are spot-on accurate, for once. This kind of detail cannot be learned through research alone, and for me it added to my overall reading experience.

Then there is Nick and Kat. I love Nick. Kat is growing on me, slowly, so we shall see what transpires with her in book 2!

Back at it again with another medical romance novel from L M Fox 🦊 and oh man did she keep me on my toes. Definitely a slow burn with this one going into the second book- so buckle up!

Katarina (Kat) is a PA at St. Luke’s and has worked hard to get to where she’s at. With being the black sheep of her family, it’s nice feel like she belongs and that she’s worthy. Her friend group is amazing and supports her and are there for her. Her dating life/ past significant others? Not so much. She’s been single for awhile now due to dating complete nimrods. She has had a terrible past with men and she couldn’t catch a break… that is until a new interest comes around & it’s the newest doctor to arrive.

Divorced, attractive & slightly grumpy, Dr. Nick Barnes is ready to begin his new job at St. Luke’s as their newest Orthopedic Surgeon 👨‍⚕️ He has sworn off of women for awhile after his nasty divorce with his ex-wife. That is until he comes across this brunette that catches his attention.

They spend the entirety of the novel having misconceptions about each other and being stubborn. They try to figure each other out but have a hard time doing so. Their attraction is instant and the tension is 🥵 This is a dual POV with mentions of flashbacks of Kat’s precious relationships, and let me tell you, I hate all of her exes. They are terrible! Also her family isn’t that great either. Poor girl can’t catch a break.

Here’s to hoping that Nick & Kat can maybe help each other break down those tough, exterior walls they keep up during the series. Check out book 1 today!!

Rating: 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Deprivation (book one) follows Katarina, a jaded PA working in the ER and Dr. Nick Barnes a orthopedist who is new to the same ER.

From their initial meeting when Kat race cared into a parking spot, her and Nick have had a a turbulent working relationship.

Throughout the book, we receive a handful of flashbacks for Kat that detail her dating history and why she doesn’t trust men to stick around long and be openly transparent with her.

As their working relationship develops, they both began having desires for one another they only act on via their nightly dreams.

Katarina’s dreams start becoming more bizarre and things in them begin to cross over into reality.

My thoughts…

I loved this book. I was truly shocked when I realized this book is less than a month old, is LM Fox’s debut book, and that more people haven’t talked about it just yet.

Deprivation is so well paced and the character building is well done. I found myself always on the edge of my seat waiting for more and more always came.

This book did not disappoint and I cannot wait for the second and third book!

I wasted 3 days trying to get through this disaster of a book. I did not know this ended in some sort of cliffhanger, I thought it was a standalone!! Omg I’m so upset with myself lol. There was all this detailed backstory on Kat’s life and why she gave up on relationships. I was waiting on a happy ending, and there was a damn cliffhanger! I was so bored through this entire thing, but wanted to see it through and was hoping for a spicy moment. Uggghhh

Oohhh.. Med drama with a twist 😍

I'd read the blurb and yet I was not expecting to have such an immersive experience with this one.

Kat is a assistant nurse who has had a past string of bad relationships. It's not that she's been a serial dater or something but her long term bfs have been straight A-holes and hence she has major trust issues. She doesn't believe in dating even though she has many male friends and goes partying or is out socialising a lot.

Nick is recently divorced and that has changed him as a person. He's more broody, keeps to himself and is only focused on his work as a orthopedic doctor specialising in shoulder injuries and so.
He's recently had a job change to a new hospital and is getting to people but just for his career's sake.
Yet he can't help but stop thinking about the nurse who people gravitate to and has so many friends.

Kat doesn't exactly like Mr. Broody as she calls Dr. Nick. He might be good looking but with her past she has no intentions of putting up with ill mannered men.

I loved this book, watching Kat and the other doctor and nurses treat different cases coming in. Some unusual and some serious and then some equally funny.

But this one was with a twist. As Kat starts experiencing dreams where later she gets up feeling as if they were real. Not only that most times she's in clothes or situations that she had just witnessed in her dreams.

I couldn't really tell which one were dreams or if something was happening with Kat that she doesn't realise. But her dream episodes are very intriguing and especially towards the end when she really starts freaking out after a random something pops up.

I soo can't wait to find out what happens next between her and Nick. Also what is happening with her, whether is real or something else. Can't wait to dive into book 2 fast enough. Loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

“I’d prefer naughty. And you know what? I think I know just where I can find it.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kat & Nick

Kat is a PA in an emergency room. Nick is an orthopedic surgeon who is on call and visits the ER when needed. We get a lot of glimpses into Kat’s past which give us her back story into who she is and what brought her to where she is now. But also, how she met all the amazing supporting characters that are her friends.

Kat and Nick each have their own struggles, and because of those past incidents, aren’t interested in a relationship. They can’t avoid each other, and you can tell they don’t want to either.

It is a slow burn, but I promise it is now without steam. And in such a unique way too!

This book was truly a breath of fresh air. You can tell the experience the author has in this field because it reads like she’s sharing life events, not like it’s this fictional story. Everything was so raw, real and lifelike. I was easily able to picture every second of this while reading.

I can’t wait to read the next in this trilogy.

Fav character: The Grandmother
Readability: Bumpy
Type: Book - Series

▪️
Weird behaviour, terrible communication skills… lots of unnecessary drama and more dream almost sex than actual sex.
▪️
This is… 😩, I forgot her name, she of the very low self esteem who constantly compares herself to everyone around her, (sister and friends) and always finds herself lacking. Everyone is pretty and in relationships, but not Kat. 🤦

We are provided with random minute retellings of these horrid relationships she has had in flashbacks that could have been incorporated into conversations or been less dramatic. We also witness her inability to say ‘No’- which could have saved us all much grief.

That being said, Kat seems to fall for convenient guys who unfortunately, turn out to be a**holes.

With no time to look for better options further afield, Kat throws herself into being the Physician Assistant, until 2am some days and a sleep/nightmare haver for a few hours after. Her life has continued in this vein until sports medicine doctor, Nick… 💁 Sexy, terribly divorced, childless, jaded and bored? 💁

Unfortunately, we are also placed in his head. We witness his inability to communicate first hand and his growing desire. This is a slow burn romance that goes from two annoyed/annoying strangers to dream sex, to sex. And in that sex, mysteries abound.

Cue: Relationship traumas, hot doctors, POOR family units, great friendships, sketchy medication and a bumpy read.

(Contemporary romances really ARE NOT my thing… 🤦 But I try Dear Readers, I try).

Whoa! Not what I was expecting; it was much more with such a keen insight into the lives of medical workers. If I needed an Orthopedic doctor, I'd be asking for Nick Barnes (Dr. Brooody). MM-hmmm. These two, Katarina and Nick, are destined to be together; but they have past issues that are causing them to see one another in dim light.

This story was engaging and took me into the medical field with light humor and deep attraction between the characters. I enjoyed the dynamics between Kat and her friends. I'll be diving into the next book as soon as I can to find out where this heated story goes.

If the author would just stick to Nick and Kat it would have been so much better. I really don’t like flashbacks in books- I love a good slow burn- Marianna
zappata has written my favorites-Kulti, From Lukov with Love and Wall of Winnipeg. I never skimmed one page in those books. I skimmed a lot in this book… the parts that were about the MC’s interactions were great— the rest was boring fluff. I’m going to check out book 2 to see if it gets better because I really like the love story of Nick
And Kat.

Kat seems to draw the players straight to her. She's had so many bad relationships that she now has night terrors about them, really, really weird nightmares that keep her from sleeping well. So now she's being prescribed sleeping pills. Are they cause of her vivid nightmares? Nightmares that have turned to erotic dreams of the new hot surgeon, Nick? Well, it doesn't matter how hot he is, because she's not getting sucked into the orbit of another playboy...

Nick has sworn off relationships ever since his ex wife turned out to be so bad. Then he meets a spitfire named Kat at his new job and suddenly he can't get her out of his mind. Though he didn't give her the best first impression, he knows he has to have her. Will she give into the attraction everyone else around them can plainly see?

Damn...I really was not sure what was a dream and what was real in Deprivation. LM Fox skillfully wove the dreams and the real so seamlessly that I'm still not sure exactly what is going on between Nick and Kat. I have sort of an idea, but don't know if I'm anywhere near being right. All I know for sure is that these two were hot, even if it was all dreams, and that I have to have the second book, NOW please!!

A bit spicy, a bit of a slow burn though! I like the book though I think that LM Fox would benefit from a better copy editor (it’s Colombia, not Columbia, when referring to the country and therefore the coffee roast, and the main character’s friends name, Meghan was spelled several times with an H and once as just Megan). Generally though I thought the book was intriguing and kept me engaged and I’ll likely finish the series. I really enjoyed reading a book written by a PA, because the scenarios were much more realistic, and therefore much more enjoyable to read as a fellow PA!

Deprivation by LM Fox is the first book of the Deprivation and also the first book I've read of this author.
The HOT cover totally got my attention and when I read the blurb I KNEW I NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!
Deprivation is the awesome story of Kat and Nick. She's a PA at the St. Luke's hospital and he's the new orthopedist there. Both can't deny their attraction to each other... but it seems like they're not that good at get it right... you should read this book to find out more! ;)
Well I ABSOLUTELY ENJOYED THIS BOOK! I loved the whole mood of their story! It was really kinda electrifying and sizzling... I really really liked that!
I also instantly fell in love with Kat, all the oher guys at the ER and - OF COURSE - Dr. Nick Barnes! OMG! I'm having goose bumps everywhere just thinking about him. LOL
OMG what have you done to me?!?!?!
I loved this push and pull between Kat and Nick! Awww!
Okay, I've to admit that both were sometimes really frustrating! I wanted to shout at them! LOL
But other times I felt with them... and I can't wait for MORE and how their story will continue!! ♡♡♡♡

What a ride!! I started this book at 10am this morning and in less than 6 hours I finished it!

Kat is a PA in an ER and has an abysmal love life. So bad that her exes haunt her dreams. Nick's love life isn't much better. He is extremely bitter after his divorce and decides that he will never find love. That is until he sees Kat. A series of misunderstandings keep Nick and Kat apart, and though they haunt each other's dreams they can't seem to get out of their own way.

This is what a book is supposed to do... It gets you out of your own head and helps you escape. I absolutely loved everything about this book, including the cliff hanger.

Thank you to LM Fox for the eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I read this book (and the other 2 books in the trilogy) last December on Kindle Unlimited and I have just purchased this book as it is 99p on Kindle - absolute steal!

I decided to read this book as I had seen it mentioned on a book group and had heard so many good things about it - and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint!
From the minute I opened this book I honestly couldn't put it down. I loved the writing style and the easy flow of the writing, story and character introductions. It reminded me a lot of T L Swan which is a huge positive for me as I love T L Swan and all of her books.
I enjoyed being introduced to Kat and her very relatable and down to earth character. The reader is shown all of her past problems and her insecurities, yet she is still so positive, kind and lovable. I find her character inspiring. Then we get to meet the deliciously brooding Nick Barnes and his equally delicious 'rival' Sebastian Lee. Again, the reader is shown how Nick Barnes has his own demons to deal with and this only makes me love him even more.
I'm a sucker for an enemies to lovers style romance and we definitely get that at the start of this book with Kat and Nick. I loved the back and forth, 'are they aren't they' with the two of them and just when I think they have finally made it we get a final plot twist at the end of the book.
The writing is crammed full of medical terms, anecdotes and real to life situations. I absolutely love this as even though it is clearly fiction, the reader gets this sense of reality by being able to relate to or even understand the realistic content of the book. I also got such a feel for all of the different emotions that the author portrayed so well.
This book was such an easy read and left me running to read the next book in the trilogy.
I would 100% recommend this book!

Deprivation by LM Fox is the first book in the Deprivation Trilogy and I thoroughly enjoyed this strangers to lovers, workplace romance.

Kat is a Physician Assistant in an ER and has a string of bad relationships and horrible exes. Nick, a surgeon, hasn’t had a great love life either. A bitter divorce has left him jaded and unconvinced he’ll ever find love. Their first encounter leaves them captivated by each other, but both characters are all sorts of messed up and they both have complicated pasts which have made them the way they are. Kat and Nick’s first encounter introduces so much tension between the two. They find each other attractive, but don’t want to pursue anything with anyone.

LM Fox has written a compelling slow-burn romance with intriguing characters. I loved the accuracy and attention to detail LM Fox has put into the development of this story. The banter was amazing, and I loved the push and pull between the characters. However, there was a wealth of information about these character’s pasts which made this a bit slow for me and I was slightly confused about how everything came together due to the sheer number of characters.

Overall, I really enjoyed this romance and I can’t wait to read the next book after that cliffhanger!

All I can say is "WOW!" Doctors and nurses and patients, oh my! It is almost like "a day in the life of a doctor/nurse"! You just want to see what happens next! The book is out of the ordinary for me - it was very captivating and intriguing! The theme of the story is unusual, serious and even a bit quirky at times, along with some fun and a few bits of silly from time to time -you won't be bored! Add to that some medical knowledge and some fancy footwork at the "club" and yeah, you will be entertained! Each character has their own idiosyncrasies which makes for a couple of wonderful, unique characters! And Kat - well, she is a hoot! She can't find a decent man and Nick, dealing with an ugly divorce - well, the two get together in spite of their constant, silly banter, but in an unexpected way! No spoilers here! And that's Dr. Nick on the cover - is he hot or what!??!? Deprivation is Book 1 in a box set of 3. I have 2 and 3 and will be reading those! Warning: there is minorly graphic sex in the book, but just skim past if you don't want to read it (I did and it didn't change the impact of the story). No big deal - the story is still good and fun!

This was a horrible read for me. One thing that really bothered me though was that she's been getting fucked by random ass men in her sleep... basically raped. Yet all her dreams are of Nick does that mean he has been the one screwing her? I don't think so though because only that one time under the tree was when they actually done it, at least that's all he mentioned. So who was it then?

Also, the story was super drawn out and boring. There was really no reason for the 'past' chapters. Some of them weren't even about past relationships just random snippits of her past relationships that could've easily been explained in a couple sentences like 'one time I walked in on my boyfriend screwing a girl who apparently was his girlfriend. He said I was stupid for thinking it was something more' So the whole past chapters were really just filler and didn't really contribute to the story at all. Some of them just really made no sense.

The whole book was just a bunch of filler information that didn't contribute to the story or the plot. It was bad. Shit that should've been glossed over had been detailed and the whole time its like ' why is this even written down'. If you like reading about every little thing a character does then you may like it.. She also had all these guys all over her - there were like 15 different guys and it was hard to keep up. It made it seem so fake. Like all these people and their interactions with her just didn't feel natural and jesus - there were so many!!! like one or 2 would've been fine but literally every person from doctor, nurse, firefighter, emt, patients .. ALL of them interacted with her in familiar way like she had screwed them all or she was just so amazing they had to praise her all the time. it was weird.

About the sleep thing. I am really confused about the shower dream she had. It said that out of no where a hand pulled her up and led her to bathroom and starting stripping her and they got all sexual and got in the shower or some shit. Either way. She dreamed it was Nick. and it's obvious the shit she was doing in her dreams is actually shit she was doing in real life - only she hadn't been aware because she was sleeping. Sooo things brings up - who the fuck was the guy in the shower. How did he get in her house? Where the fuck did he go? Also, how many nights this shit happened. And just about all of them got sexual. All of them featured Nick but only one of them was actually Nick. So how many people were fucking / raping her while she was asleep?

Nick said he believed he ruined his chances with her and when asked why he replied 'She is trying to be the Queen'. I have no fucking clue what that is even suppose to mean. There is no explanation and no context really. Like am I just dumb? Because I literally have no clue what that means and how that can mean he lost his chance with her. I was seriously dumbfounded

I cannot see myself finishing this. I really wanted to like it because I wanted Dr. Broody and her to work out. But even their interactions were freaking weird. Its a boring story and wasn't put together well. Its just a bunch of filler stuff that isn't interesting at all to read.

Then there is the niece and nephew who are around the age of like 5 or younger. Apparently these kids stole her phone and text Nick. The author put in, I guess to try and make it believable, that they had used the microphone to text. Even so, there is just so much wrong with that. Like who was reading Nick's texts to them so they knew what to say in reply? They can't read so it wasn't them. If somehow the phone read the messages, why didn't she hear? Also, if they were texting back by using the microphone, how did she not hear it? Was she not paying attention to the kids? They were on the other side of the couch huddled up and giggling. Then, how did they decide to text HIM out of everyone? Honestly, at 5, those texts realistically would've been random ass emoji not words and definitely not replying to questions.

I just really feel like the way the story was written, was definitely not for me. I wasn't able to connect with the story at all or the characters.

❤️❤️This is the first book in The Deprivation Trilogy❤️❤️

This book is for lovers of romances that take place in the medical field, this time at the ER. LM Fox knows exatly what she writes about and thrue her words you get a com plicated start of a romance story in realistic medical word.

Kat is a nice person, she loves her job and helping people, I really liked her, but I have to say it was so hard to read about her past and people who left her on the perifery of their interest, but what she missed with her family and men she found with her real friends.
Kat has a real bad-luck in her romance life, so after many hurtful relationships, she concentrates her energy on her job and friends.

,, You will never ever let a man do this to you agai, Katharina Kelly. Do you hear me?´´ I shout.

From the outside it looks, she is a easy-going person, who is loved by everyone, but in reality she struggles so much. She is haunted in her dreams, has lack of sleep. She tries to solve her problem with pills, only to change her horor dreams into more pleasure dreams with one main character- Dr. Nick Barnes. The person she swores to avoid. But can she?

Nick Barnes after his divorce tries to start from the beginning in new hospital, he gave up to have a loving partner and family, and concentrates only on his job and he feels his free time with one-night adventures. Only he has to work in one building with Kat. He has now idea why, but he needs to be close to her. His temper and insecurities made it at first impossible to have something more with Kat, but his father is not ready to let him give up. And he has some really great qualities to help 🥵🥵🌶️🌶️.

But Kat is in the center of interest for more then one man, so Nick will have to fight hard. And Kat won´t give up easy.

,,Well, that´s where you´re wrong, Dr. Barnes. I don´t want to handle nice. I´d prefer naughty. And you know what? I think I know just where I can find it,´´

Since this book is the start of the trilogy it has an open end that makes you to pick up the second book immediately.

This is my second rereading this book after two years and I did enyoj it more, because the first time I had no idea how many great stories we have ahead for all the sidecharacters, so it was really nice to meet all of them and still knowing what awaits them in the future.

LM Fox has a unique way of writting and I have to say after reading all of her books, she improves with each one. But Deprivation will stay forever as book nbr.1, which opens a great world of wonderfull characters 🤩📖.

First, let's just talk about that cover! Who is that man and where can I get one?

Alright, done with the drooling... This is the first book from LM Fox and the first time I've ever read a book with this concept. I loved how she wove in these two worlds that Kat exists in. One is her waking life where she's a PA in the ER of a hospital and the other is her fantasy/dream world where she exists in a world of night terrors that turn into erotic dreams... or are they real? The idea behind it is both intriguing and terribly frightening, I loved it!

Nick is a man that's been burned in love and has decided that one night stands are the only form of intimacy he wants in his life until he meets Kat and he's terrified of his reaction to her. While Nick lives his life like a typical playboy, he has a lot more depth to him and is a family man at heart. If only Kat would give him a chance.

One of my favorite aspects of this book is the relationship between the people who work at the hospital. They're a close knit group of friends and their interactions are filled with humor, love and scenarios that could only happen in an ER. I am looking forward to reading the next two books in the trilogy, especially with the ending of this first book!

Deprivation by L.M Fox is one I've read before but this was a reread for the release of Deprived no more so I wanted to reread this one and the other books in the series then realized I never reviewed this one, so without further explanation lol this is book one in the deprivation series. It is Nick and Kat's story. They both work in the medical field which I love because as do I! and have also been hurt by significant others before (also as have I).

Kat is a Physician's assistant, or PA for short. She is a wonderful friend, remains free but is always willing to help. As great of a girl she is, she seems to only date losers and so she's decided to be done with that!

Nick is an Orthopedic Surgeon who has just moved to the hospital Kat is working at. He is newly divorced and that has left him thinking he would never find that love his parents always had. The sadness he feels tugged at my heartstrings the worst!

L.M Fox wrote this in a way we got past glimpses to help us understand the characters and why they were being the way they were, when Kat and Nick met it wasn't love at first sight but the attraction was there. Letting go of the past can definitely be hard!

Character development is great, tension and angst are so good! Can't wait to share the rest of this series with you all, don't sleep on this! Pick up book one if you haven't started yet!!

Okay, I've said it before and I will say it again, I hate cliffhangers! I guess I should have realized that that Katarina and Nick's story didn't end in this first book. But every so often "a trilogy" can be about other characters from the first story and include the HEA you expected from the first book. That being said, as good as the story was, albeit unfinished, there was an awful lot of repetitiveness in the story. Also, both Katarina and Nick can jump to conclusions awfully fast and this is not good for any relationship they hope to have. Some of the storyline got a little strange when Katarina has her nightmares/night terrors and you don't really know fact from dreams. I guess we are going to learn about these dream happenings in the next book. Some of the characters from this book have their own stories and it will be interesting if book #2 and #3 include their stories or we move on to another trilogy. So, dear readers, if you want what I definitely don't, a book that leaves you thinking, "What the H***!" then dive into this series and get to know the people and doctors at St. Luke's Hospital.

Deprivation is book one in Nick and Kat's story and it is quite an interesting one! They both work in the medical field and have also been hurt by significant others before.

This book is fun to read. As you go back and forth through time to find out what made these characters who they are. The detail of all the characters is one of the best parts. Especially as they dance around each other in life.I could depict an image in my head of what/how the character became who they are in present day! The past and present are blended so nicely.

Kat is a PA (Physician's assistant), she is carefree, a wonderful friend and always willing to help. She, however, sucks at choosing a good man. She has only had relationships with douchebags. This has caused her to swear off getting into another relationship.

Nick is an Orthopedic Surgeon who has just moved to the hospital Kat is working at. He just walked out of a divorce that has left him thinking he would never find that love his parents always had.

Book one ends with a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to see what will happen in book 2...all the sexual tension between these two will burn them up soon.

I’ve read all books in the Deprivation trilogy and have decided to do a review that covers all three books and then share across.

When this was described as a slow burn… legit no exaggeration, in fact that was not expressed enough. I think the stories overall were written well, just a few minor tweaks here and there but it didn’t stop me from continuing.

I feel like there are quite a few unanswered questions that I would love some closure on.

I like the stories, some very interesting characters, some I would hope to see get developed further. I couldn’t really get over how Kat’s family initially came across and don’t think the resolution got enough air time 🤷🏾‍♀️ could just be me though.

Still no resolution on the outcome of the final accident (I won’t spoil it), in some ways the story jumped a bit in other ways it kind of dragged on.

To be honest I’m a bit undecided about how I feel after reading so I’m not really sure what else to write… might come back and finish up once I’ve had time to reflect.

I would recommend, they are quick reads…

I couldn't stop reading!! I finished this in one sitting, now I'm starting book 2!!

Kat works as a PA in the ER. The poor girl hasn't had a great love life at all. She is struggling with nightmares that keep her from getting a good night's sleep. She gets prescribed sleeping pills to help, and they are causing her to have some very real seeming dreams. Then she meets the hot new doc, Nick.

Nick is anti relationships ever since his divorce. He is quiet, bloody, and grouchy but super hot 😂 When he starts his job at the ER, he runs into Kat and he knows right away he has to make her his. They don't give very good first impressions to each other, but the attraction between them is visible to everyone.

LM Fox, you blew me away with this book!! Nick and Kat are amazing, and I even love all the side characters. I'm starting book 2 now, I have to know what was dreams and what was real!!!!

Y'all just need to buy the entire trilogy. Just do it! I swear you'll LOVE it!

I don't even know what to say about this book. All I know is I've read the first two books in 48 hours and wholly intend to read the third today. LM Fox tells such a captivating story of loss, fear, and love. Her characters are real, flawed, and I think that's what pulls me to them. Kat is a lovely physician assistant with terrible luck at dating (which let's be honest, I can relate to this). She's had numerous boyfriends who've treated her in such ways that she has absolutely no desire to ever date again. Then, Nick comes into the picture - the gorgeous, sexy orthopedic surgeon, that she can't quite get a read on. One minute, he's biting her head off. The next, he's being sweet.

Both characters are tortured by their pasts, and yet, still intrigued by the other.

Like I said before, just read it! I promise you won't regret it!
