Taika Waititi wins Grammy for Jojo Rabbit soundtrack

Taika Waititi's Jojo Rabbit has earned the writer and director a Grammy Award for best compilation soundtrack for visual media.

Waititi is a producer on the soundtrack and joked saying "I guess they're just giving Grammys to anyone now!".

The soundtrack includes German recordings of the Beatles and David Bowie.

Waititi won an Academy Award for best adapted screenplay for Jojo Rabbit.

Adapted from Belgian-New Zealand author Christine Leunens' novel Caging Skies, the film is set during World War II, and tells the story of a 10-year-old young German boy - an enthusiastic member of Hitler Youth - who discovers a Jewish girl, Elsa, who is in hiding.

The film hit theatres just over a year ago.
