Shipping rates

Shipping rates determine what your customers pay for shipping at checkout. You can charge flat rates that you set, offer free shipping, or use carrier-calculated rates where shipping carriers such as UPS or FedEx determine the shipping cost based on the order details.

Before you set up shipping rates, get familiar with shipping profiles. Shipping profiles let you create different shipping rules for specific products and locations. Shipping zones are groups of countries or regions that have the same shipping rates. To sell to a particular country, you need to include the country in an active market.

You can enhance your shipping rates with additional features such as transit time to display delivery estimates at checkout, or connect your own third-party carrier accounts to display rates from your UPS, FedEx, or USPS accounts. You can also set up backup shipping rates to ensure customers can complete checkout when carrier-calculated rates fail.

If you're new to shipping or setting up your store, then review the shipping strategy guide to understand the benefits and drawbacks of different approaches before setting up your rates.
