Alliances are forming. The resistance is growing. Everything is about to change.

With her memory still fragmented, Ava returns to the International Sensory Assassin Network (ISAN) to find the twin sister she never knew she had.

But as Ava hunts for information, she finds herself tangled in a web of yet more lies and conspiracy. The Helix serum may not be required to access her superpowers, and the number of male assassins—previously considered too volatile to tolerate Helix—is growing in every territory.

The more Ava uncovers, the more of a threat she becomes to ISAN. Her only salvation may be to join the rebels—if she isn’t killed first.

So this is the second book in the series and this starts where the last left off with Ava exchanging herself for Ollie and back within the walls of ISAN.
One of the first things that struck me here was we get to experience the story this time from both Ava and Rhetts POV which I much prefered.
I was able to get much more of an idea of Rhett's character and it was apparent instantly just how much he cares about Ava and how her decision to return and place herself in danger is affecting him.
I was a tad worried initially about the inclusion of Cleo and whether she was going to be a snake because of her unrequited feelings for Rhett but thankfully that wasn't the case and I even ended up feeling a little sorry for her.
I also thought Ava's plan or even non-plan to save her sister and father was a tad optimistic and considering they were actually virtual strangers to her she should be more inclined to concentrate on those she already loves and cares about more than some non-entities she just happens to share a biological connection with.
She was constantly placing herself in danger for others with zero regards to her own personal safety and despite her best intentions, she was not always that logical and I thought her goals came about more from sheer blind luck than any major planning on her part.
Despite that, she means well and this time around we get a slightly colder and harder Ava, her eyes are now fully open.
We get various glimpses into a shared past between Ava and Rhett which also helped me get a feel for there overall dynamic and I could definitely feel the connection between them.
This was well written and genre-wise this was a YA Sci-Fi/Dystopian and it worked very well.
It was fast-paced and a real page-turner that I really enjoyed.
I thought the ending here was great it closed a chapter so I felt satisfied but the story itself is still ongoing.
There's a slight question mark over the identity of Ava's twin but nothing I can't live with until the grand reveal in the next instalment.
Happy to recommend this one it was a fab read.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Helix.

Helix was an action packed ride that had me on the edge of my seat. The story was rich and intricate, the characters had my emotions pulled every which way and I loved how the stakes were even higher! This book was just as addicting as the first, and I loved being back in this world. If you love dystopian and books that play out like a movie, then you have to pick up this series!
I wasn’t just a daughter whose father had experimented on her. I was the very thing ISAN should fear.

✮ A Different Take:
There was nothing I wouldn’t do for her, even give up my own life. She was my world. No matter how long it took to get her memory back, I would be patient. But we were running out of time.

This story started out with Rhett's point of view! And we switched back and forth between Ava and Rhett throughout the story. I was dying to get into Rhett's head, in ISAN, and now we got to hear every single thought of his. It added so much emotion and allowed us to learn about Rhett inside and out. I absolutely loved how much depth it added to the story!

✮ Love is Powerful:
I love you with every breath, with every fiber of my being. My favorite place in the world is next to you. - Rhett to Ava

This story held the most beautiful love story. With little pieces of the past coming back to Ava, it filled my heart with so many emotions. There were moments that made me smile, made me have tears in my eyes and others that gutted me. We got to see every single side of Ava and Rhett, and it made me love them that much more. What they would do for each other? It. Was. Breathtaking. If you like to read about a power couple with an ever lasting love story, Ava and Rhett are it!

✮ Friends are your Family:
I ran to a hole in the floor and caught a glimpse below. Gunshots echoed and red Taser beams flashed across the darkness. I had no choice. My team needed me.
I jumped in just as the floor sealed.

The side characters in this series had so much life and shined so brightly! We got to spend time and learn even more about Brooke, Tamara, Ozzie, and Reyna. And while yes they were two groups of friends, they felt more like family to me. They had each other's backs. They trusted each other. They would even sacrifice it all for one another.

✮ Action and Twists:
“You’re a traitor. You’re a monster. You made me do what I had to do. I had to ... You made me forget Rhett . Forget Ozzie. Forget Reyna . This is all your fault. My father. My sister. My mother ...” My lips quivered as the words died on my tongue, and I couldn’t hold it any longer. I choked on my words and sobbed.

The action and peril was intense, and I loved how this story continued to build and grow from the first book. It became even more intricate and I soaked in every single tiny detail I could. Especially since we were starting to get pieces to the bigger puzzle. We still have a lot to learn, but what we did learn in this book? It was exciting! But there was one twist I never saw coming. My mind was blown! And it made me want to go back and skim certain parts of the first book and parts of the second book too. So I did. And ohhhhhhhh it was such a tricky and genius twist, I loved it!
Breathless. Speechless. His words filled me. A warm tingle traveled through my veins. His featherlight fingers journeyed up my arm to the curve of my neck, and then his thumb glided over my mouth.

Helix ended at the perfect spot. I loved that we could finally have a moment to breathe, but at the same point I'm dying to know what happens next. Especially since I'm not exactly sure how everything is going to play out. So if you love action packed stories, intricate characters and a story line that'll keep you glued to the pages, definitely add this series to your tbr!

PS There was a line in Chapter 4 of ISAN that made me think I knew something about Ava's past and I can't wait to see if I guessed correctly or not in the next book. Because I know we'll get our answer in there, eeks, I can't wait to find out!

*Thoughts*

Helix, by author Mary Ting, is the second installment in the authors International Sensory Assassin Network series. ISAN introduced readers to a world that was destroyed by meteors. 50 years of radiation and turmoil followed. The former US is now run by a so-called Remnant Council broken up into 4 regions. Scientists discovered a unique compound from the meteors that advanced technology 100x what they would have had before the storm hit. Helix is a bit different from ISAN in that Rhett opens the story, not Ava.

What a book! I'm dying! The more I get, the more I want, no NEED! Filled to the brim with everything you want in a story, love, action, suspense, danger, sadness, the need for the characters to listen to your screaming! So much goodness!

Wow, The next installment is electrifying and adrenaline inducing. As Ava searches for her twin, more drama and information unfolds. Revelations are mind-blowing, new characters and locales are introduced and we get to watch Ava and Rhett get closer to each other.

This was a fast paced read as I was immersed in the world that Mary Ting conjured. I cannot wait to see what new adventures we readers will be brought into going forward. Bravo!

Helix is the second installment in the ISAN series...thank god there is going to be five books in this series because I just don't want it to end.

This story heats up with complex conspiracies, tangled twists, and action...action..action...

SO much happens in this story, you have to be alert at all times because you will never guess or expect what will happen. Some secrets will be revealed, while others just get deeper and mysterious.

The characters are amazing....I was content to be back into Ava and Rhett's world....a damaged world that still holds hope. Your favorite resistance characters are still strong, shedding light humor during difficult times. Ava's team, still loyal...ahem...most of them.. and amazing new characters that plays critical rolls.

Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster...your heart will soar, it will ache in pain, it will beat with an adrenaline rush, it will be crushed with agony, like I said, a roller coaster.

This story, book, world has everything, and I mean everything for a fantastic read to escape from everyday life...and that my friends, is what makes reading worthwhile.

Helix is action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat -- I absolutely adored it!

This is book two in the YA dystopian ISAN series by Mary Ting.  The story is told in the dual POVs of Rhett and Ava, which added a lot of depth and gave me more of what I was wanting after the first book -- Rhett!

Mary Ting has a phenomenal writing style and is an amazing story teller.  She has created a fascinating world in this series.  The stakes are high, the characters are complex, and the romance that's weaved into the story is ridiculously swoon-worthy!

The plot picks up right where ISAN concluded and is just as intense.  I like seeing more pieces to this puzzle falling into place.  Of course, there is still a lot to be told but the story arc that started at the beginning of book one has continued at a good pace and has left me anxious for book three.

The cast of characters is so fantastic!  Not only do I love Rhett and Ava, but the secondary characters are just as interesting as the leads.  The friendships are fierce and the bonds are strong!

Overall, I absolutely recommend Helix!  This series is one of my favorite YA dystopians, and fans of the genre should enjoy this one!

*Thanks to Good Choice Reading for providing me with a copy of this book as part of this tour.  Please note that it, in no way, had an effect on my opinion or review.

This is one of those reads, which hits in high gear and doesn't let go until the last page...and not even then.

I did read the first book in this series and highly recommend reading it as a series, since each book starts where the last left off.

While book one set the stage, this book takes intrigue and danger head on. There's so many secrets, and with every answer which comes, even more questions come to light. Every scene and moment left me wondering what was about to happen next. In other words, it's a very hard book to put down. There also more to discover about the characters, keeping the needed depth to make the characters interesting and easy to fever for. And there is a lot to fever for. Tension sits around every bend.

The world is vivid, well described and holds enough sense to make it come to life. There's enough logic to guarantee that no stumbles occur, and the story flows all the way through. Add in a bit of romance, and it's a great mix. The ending does hit with a huge cliff-hanger (something I'm always a bit torn over), but it does promise a great adventure in the next book, too.

I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed it quite a bit. So, I'm leaving my honest thoughts.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first novel. This focused more on the romance between Rhett and Ava, and while it might work for some, to me it felt very over the top. Considering their supposed ages, their declarations of love and plans for the future just didn't seem realistic. Teenagers don't talk like that!

Also, the plot felt very 'flip flop' (not sure how else to describe it). Ava is 'kidnapped' and then returned to ISAN at the end of the first book because there is information that she needed to find out. I was looking forward to her becoming more independent and stronger as she figured things out for herself; discovered the secrets about ISAN. But this doesn't happen. In this one she is 'kidnapped' once again by Rhett because 'she is going to be killed.' Despite, her being a 'trained' assassin who should be able to defend herself in some way. Then, Zen decides, quite quickly, that she has to go back because she hasn't got enough 'Intel' and needs to steal the new formula. Ava doesn't actually 'complete' the mission as Russ steals it for her. Can we see the pattern here? For a novel that seems to want to empower women it seems to have most of the decisions being made FOR Ava by men. I want to see her take control of herself and stop letting things happen to her. She is capable!

I do like the premise of this series and am still curious to see where it is headed so I think I will continue to read this series. But ultimately, this novel didn't quite work for me.

Omg Mary Ting I didn't think you could beat the action from ISAN, but boy was I wrong. I loved reading how Ava began to remember bits and pieces of the past she once had and to see her strength continue to drive her forward to find the answers she seeks and to ultimately do something to stop the evil that is ISAN. I didn't want the book to end. I am going crazy trying to figure out how Ava will help bring to light the secrets that ISAN has been hiding and bring down the organization that has ruined so many lives. Will the Rebels rise together with Ava and Rhett and bring an end to the evil that is ISAN? I cannot wait for book 3, especially with the cliffhanger and this quote at the end of the book, "Be very careful, Rhett. Or death will find her." Ms. Ting you are killing me!

Helix is the second book in a fantastic new series by the brilliant Mary Ting. This book allows you to dive deeper into this incredible story and savor the amazing characters and the breathtaking plot that much more. I have been waiting for this book for so long that I devoured every word and reveled in each emotion it evoked. What a stunning masterpiece that has me absolutely dying for more! This beautifully intricate plot will latch onto your heart and refuse to let you go while its characters will enchant and captivate every part of your imagination. You won’t ever want to leave their world no matter how harsh and cruel is gets. I can’t wait to return for the next amazing book in this outstanding series!

Rhett has one mission that has consumed his life. He will bring Ava back to him. No matter the cost, he will hold her in his arms again. After all, he can’t live with half his heart and soul wandering the world without him. Forcing himself to execute missions beyond his end game, he always keeps his eye on the ultimate goal. Singly focused and ever vigilant, his sight is only ever on the one woman who has claimed his heart and soul as her own. Ava has a multi-faceted mission that consumes her waking hours. After a life-altering revelation, she is determined to find her missing family. She has never known a place to call home, but she knows it includes Rhett, her friends, and now her family. Nothing will stop her from exposing the closely guarded secrets behind ISAN even if it costs her more than she is willing to hand over. When her latest mission puts more than just her life at risk, will she find that the rewards of true loyalty far surpass even her greatest expectations, or will they fall too short to do anyone any good?

This book allowed me to see this story from the perspective of both Rhett and Ava. I adored having this dual point of view because these two melted my heart with their pure and breathless love. I simply couldn’t get enough of them and their determination to right the wrongs taking place around them. They are fighters who just want to give and fix things. These two are the perfect choice to bring down ISAN once and for all. I have no doubt that heir stubborn and single-minded focus will prove to be the key in shattering the well-built foundation of this deadly organization. Until then, I just keep hoping that they have time to nurture and allow their precious and budding love to grow and envelope everyone around them. More then anything love can move mountains and thaw even the coldest of hearts.

What can I say about Mary Ting except that she is a true writing powerhouse. She has a tremendous creative genius that touches the lives of her readers and continues to grow into something too big and precious for mere words. She is such an incredible person who sees the world in a very unique way that never fails to bless and change my heart every time her worlds permeate my mind. I hope to see her writing for many years to come because she is get scratching the surface of her true writing potential! She is one of my absolute favorite authors, and I hope to savor her work forever if I have my way.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Just wow! Helix , sequel to ISAN , is an action-packed and fast-paced dystopian/sci-fi romance that is filled with twists and turns! Where ISAN introduced readers to this world and its characters, Helix takes it even further as secrets and truths are revealed. Mary Ting has blown me away with this new series! The multi-layered personalities of her characters drives the story forward unleashing an intriguing and emotional tale of espionage and drama, with a touch of teen angst and romance.

I was absolutely taken in to this world that Mary Ting has created. Helix is definitely a page turner. I was completely at the "edge of my seat" with bated breath. So many revelations, but yet, so many more questions as truths made known. Moreover, with all those twists, it made for an intense and suspenseful adventure. In the end of this read, I was left wanting more... know more. But, of course, readers are left "hanging" come the end with so many revelations, but yet, even more questions arise.

Must have the third book!

The characters were phenomenal!! Ava is still one awesome character!! And I just couldn't get enough of Ava and Rhett.

The story-line was incredible!! I had a hard time putting this book down. So much action and suspense kept me reading from beginning to end. I highly recommend this read!!

ISAN- International Sensory Assassin Network

WOW.....This book was freaking amazing!!

The characters were phenomenal!! I loved following this new adventure with Ava. She is still just as strong and feisty as she was in book 1. Her memory loss made me feel sorry for her and her flashbacks kept me hoping that she would eventually remember.

The story-line was incredible. Ting has a knack for drawing us into her stories and keeping us there until the end. This was an action pack, secretive story and I just couldn't put it down. I can't wait to find out what happens next!! I highly recommend this read!!

Ava's memory is still fragmented, but determined to find her newly discovered twin, she returns to ISAN. Ava is on the lookout for information to help her in her quest, but the more she looks, the more lies she uncovers. She learns Helix may not be what gives her her enhanced abilities and that ISAN is suddenly recruiting a large number of male assassins even though Helix is supposed to be too much of a strain on them. Ava learning these secrets puts her in a dangerous position with ISAN. In order to survive, she may have to join the mysterious rebels she supposedly has a past with, but she has to be able to get out of ISAN first.

Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. This review is only my opinion, and you may have your own, different one. I would take into consideration what I say, but do not make a decision about the book solely based off of this review. Additionally, the author sent me this book as a free review copy; however, this did not influence my review. This is 100% my honest opinion. Let's begin:

In my review for the first book in this series, I mentioned how it felt like I went from 5% progress to 40% in a matter of 5 minutes. Well, Mary Ting did that yet again. On Goodreads, it does appear like it took me a while to get through this book. However, this is only because I was able to start it and then had to stop for a bit. When I was able to get back into reading it though, I breezed through it.

I found the plot of this one to be just as interesting, if not more, than the first. I loved all of the secrets that were unveiled and the pacing of these reveals was really nice. Even the slower parts of the book never made me bored because they still had things going on- it just wasn't direct action. Also, the cliffhanger at the end just killed me. It seemed like, for a second, Ting was going to do the big reveal, but alas, I had hoped too much. I definitely cannot wait to get my hands on the next book now, though, because I just HAVE to know the answer to one of my biggest questions.

The characters were great. I really liked that Cleo became a bigger character (though I was a bit worried about a possible effect she would have on the story). I also enjoyed all of the new characters and am especially looking forward to getting to know more about a couple in particular in the next book. All of the original characters, especially Ava and Rhett, only grew stronger. I love them even more. I loved getting to know Rhett more by having his perspective included in the book. To avoid spoilers, I won't name the person, but the MAJOR plot twist with one of the main characters was phenomenal, and I adored it.

The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the world-building. I mentioned in my review for the first book that there wasn't a ton of world-building but that this was okay because it wasn't a super major thing in the first book. I don't think the world-building improved much in this book, and I did find that it effected me a bit while reading. For example, I would have whatever image my mind decided to conjure up in a scene, and then I'd be taken aback by something being said that completely changes how the scene would be. I did not realize some of these things that changed the scenes because I didn't know that the world was like that. I am not sure how to describe what I mean, so hopefully you understand that. I still am holding out hope that this will improve in the next book though.

Overall, I did really enjoy this read and am very excited for the third book. Ting does a fantastic job doing reveals while also keeping readers in the dark and wanting more. The characters are very strong and I think readers will attach to them easily just like I did. It felt like I got through the book super fast because of how much I enjoyed it. While there was the one con, there were so many more pros, so I highly recommend picking this one up and giving it a try.

Thank you so much to Mary Ting and Angie from the Instagram page @marytingnews for the copy of this book!

This book was incredible. If you didn’t know already, I devoured the first book in the series (ISAN), and this time around, it was exactly the same way. I found myself addicted to the book and couldn’t stop reading, I finished it in a matter of hours!

Plot
As Ava is slowly getting fragments of her memory returned to her, she searches inside ISAN compounds to find her family. Memories and her love for Rhett haunt her every move and distract her constantly.

Meanwhile, Rhett is falling apart without Ava. His one and only goal is to get her back alive and make sure she’s safe, so he comes up with a plan to once again “kidnap” her. Ava goes on a mission and is thrown off when Rhett appears, the love that she’d been missing since she’d gotten there taking a hold of her heart and guiding her towards him.

Each step that Ava takes not only uncovers the truth but a whole new set of secrets and lies. The more than Ava discovers, the more of a threat she is to ISAN and everything they stand for, her only chance is to join the rebels who are growing day by day.

It’s a race for survival, the rebellion is growing larger, ISAN is becoming more powerful. The war is coming.

Characters
Okay so to start it off Ava was super different throughout this book. Rhett has completely changed her character, and not necessarily in a bad way. Before, Ava didn’t really have a ton to fight for. Her mother was dead, she only had one friend, she didn’t have anything else, and then Rhett came along. In this book, Ava realizes how important it is to protect the things she loves while keeping herself alive in the process. I like how she keeps her main goal of finding her family in her head, while completely fooling ISAN in the process. I pretty much just adore her character and everything she is.

I also absolutely loved Rhett. It was so cool to see his point of view in some chapters and I loved seeing his love for Ava and his friends. It was also super cool to see his side of the story and I feel like I got a lot more information on how he came to ISAN, who his family is, etc. He’s definitely one of my new book boyfriends!
Reyna was a character I feel like I need more information on. She obviously cares a lot for Ava and Rhett and her friends, but I just don’t know enough about her. Unlike Reyna, however, Ozzie is a character that we did get to see a bit more of. He definitely showed his softer side in this book and I could see how much he genuinely loved Ava. From giving her a sleeping serum to his “I really missed you”, when he found out she had some of her memories back, I was in tears with his feelings of pure love and friendship towards Ava.

Along with the rebels, we got to see a bit more of our ISAN friends like Brooke, Tamara, and even Russ and Mitch. Brooke had always been a constant companion for Ava and I loved how much Brooke stood up for her. She always had her back and it was nice to see that Brooke didn’t have any hard feelings towards Ava for everything that happened with the rebels. We also were able to see a bit more of our “innocent”, “quiet” Tamara, who, plot twist, isn’t so innocent. I pretty much adore Tamara and her character. She’s just so amazing, and I was completely fooled by her!

Overall I loved seeing each of these characters grow and progress and I didn’t expect half of the things that happened to be real!

Setting
Once again, we’re put in the ISAN East compound with Ava, Brooke, Tamara, Mitch, and Russ, and we’re also able to see Hope City with Rhett, Reyna, and Ozzie.

The ISAN compounds are pretty much the exact same as the last book, however, Hope City was certainly an interesting setting. While it looked like rubble and debris, people made their homes there and it turned into Hope City, and it sounded beautiful despite its many flaws. While it isn’t necessarily a “home” it is the rebels' salvation and their fight against ISAN which is the most important part. Rebels from different territories have been making their way to Hope City and it’s like a beacon calling all of the rebels to come and fight. It’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect it to be; a rebellion.

Writing
Once again, Mary Ting blows me away with her writing style. I can’t believe I’ve never read this series before. I was constantly on the edge of my seat from the intense storyline and action happening. I laughed, cried, and sometimes wanted to throw the book across the room. It kept me captivated and I absolutely couldn't put it down, (which is probably why I finished it in one sitting).

In Conclusion…
I can’t recommend this series enough. I’m adoring and devouring this series so far and I can’t get enough of these characters, this story, and the entire book. I can’t believe the cliffhanger at the end of the book and now I’m sitting in anticipation until I get my hands on the next one. This series is a must-read for YA dystopian lovers, and I can’t get over how incredible it is.

5/5⭐

This review is in relation to book 2 in the series so while I will steer away from spoilers for this book, there would be spoiler of book 1 (unavoidable if I want to be coherent in this review, sorry!)

I have been aware of this author, Mary Ting, for a while but haven't really been compelled to pick up her books until now. I guess I was just in the right mood for a dystopian novel with a kick ass heroine or two or maybe hundreds. I expected lots of subterfuge, action, and a bit of romance to spice it up.

Helix, being book 2, picks up right after book 1 or even roughly around the same time. The big difference is that in this book, we have dual perspectives: Rhett's in addition to Ava's. It is very logical & useful telling of the story seeing the way the plot developed in this book but it was also so very good to hear Rhett's voice (mostly anyway - I'll explain the 'mostly' later). We have a much wider worldview in this book and therefore, a number of more complex twists.

What I enjoyed most in this books are the girls and their friendships. Okay, there are some who are just very cold but then I wonder if there'll be other factors unveiled in subsequent series. Anyway, Ava & her friends are intelligent, independent, and courageous ladies. I really liked the way they care for each other and also, in resolving conflicts (it's not all violent!).

Even if I was excited to have Rhett's pov (the books begins with his), I later found that he's just too needy! Or maybe the better phrasing is that he's too hung up on Ava. I got rather frustrated with him so I didn't find his character as well developed as Ava's. In addition, this does make the novel to be quite heavy handed with the romance. I think because I wasn't expecting it to be so heavy in the romance department (there wasn't that much romance in book 1), I was finding it really corny. I was actually laughing at a 'very romantic' speech and errr... that wasn't good lol. So, okay, I may be a tad cynical but you yourself may Love it ;)

Helix was a very quick read mostly due to just how action-packed it was. If you love lots of romance with sparks flying off the page, you'd love this sequel to ISAN.

Helix, which is the second book in this series, was action-packed and thrilling. Every chapter was filled with beautiful prose and rich content, with captivating characters and a love story you won’t soon forget. This is a thrilling ride you won’t soon forget.

What was really nice about Helix was getting to see inside Rhett’s head, as the book shifted between his and Ava’s point of view. Rhett’s devotion to Ava is what made me love him even more. He’s one of those swoon-worthy characters you will fall in love with, and to be quite honest, he was probably my favorite character. But, of course, I also love Ava’s character. She’s still working on retrieving her missing memories while also trying to stay alive and find the twin sister she never knew she had.

I thought the action in the first book was insane, but this book brings that action to a whole new level. What was really cool, though, was how Ting built on the action and scenes from the first book. I love books that reveal piece by piece of a very intricate plot, and Helix is one of those books. As many would say, the plot continues to thicken.

Ting’s writing is beautiful and her action scenes felt like they were happening right in front of me. She’s a talented writer and knows how to make the reader feel like they are there experiencing everything with the characters. Ting also did a great job with the character development and pacing everything out. There was never too much action at one point and never too little; this book honestly had the perfect dose of action and romance.

If you are looking for a thrilling action ride with complex characters and a love story that will captivate you, then the ISAN series is for you. The first two books in this series are out now!

I cannot tell you how excited I was for this book. The first book was amazing but ended with lots of questions (so you should absolutely read it first). Ava is still strong and determined. She is back with her ISAN team but she has a secret mission that none of them know about. I love her interaction with her team, they are close and she is determined to protect them. She is always thinking of others over herself and I admire that.

Where the first book set up the action, Helix sped up the momentum. I love how determined Rhett is to help Ava and to have her back in his life. The team there is so close, they are family. There are a whole new series of characters to get to know and determine if you should trust or not. There are some that I love and some that I'm still reserving judgment on. Overall it was a great book. I cannot wait to see where Mary Ting takes these characters next.

Absolutely a 5/5.

Thank you to the author for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

5 Mega Hit Stars

I received this book for my honest review.

Have you ever wanted to just take off to another place entirely where it didn't matter what you did or how you did it as long as you took yourself to an entirely different plateau? This author brings you that and more with the author's imagination and a bunch of characters that go around as they want in her head making this a hit. This is the second book in this series and if you thought the first was a hit this one will have your head spinning wanting to take their continuing journey to find an everlasting impression that will leave you in awe.

I love this authors' work so much that reading another's like this would not be in my frame of mind. The author ruins other authors books and it's done with great pride, silliness and a bunch of heart.

When you read this 2nd book you'll see pieces from others she's written which makes this authors' writing all the more exciting, enchanting and memorable.

Great Job.
Happy Reading

Matrix meets Alias/James Bond. Mary Ting’s Helix (International Sensory Assassin Network #2) takes place following book one, ISAN. Ava is starting to remember the past. She returns to ISAN in an attempt to find her father and twin sister. This science fiction dystopia novel is suitable for young adults.

Mary Ting continues to do an amazing job with this series. Helix was told from both Ava’s and Rhett’s point of view. I enjoyed both perspectives. The story reminds me of a combination of the Matrix, the ABC television series Alias, and James Bond. The Matrix from the dystopia everything is not what it really seems standpoint, Alias from the female spy not knowing who to trust stance, and James Bond for the cool gadgets.

I enjoyed discovering more of the history in this novel. I liked that the story flashed back and forth in time. Some new characters are introduced. There are only a few people that Ava feels she can trust. The novel is filled with action, espionage, loyalty, and deceit.

Make sure to read book one, ISAN before this book. Helix ended with a cliff hanger. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens in book three. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Oh my gosh, that cliffhanger!

I'm normally not one who likes the second book in a series more than the first. For some reason, they all seem to fall a little flat. This one, however, is an exception!

I loved Ava and Rhett. Through the book, they're rediscovering their relationship (as Ava gains more of her little memory blips), and Ava's eyes are being open to the evil of ISAN. New characters were introduced that I really enjoyed. Cleo was a bit of an annoyance at first, but only because of her serious crush on Rhett. I wasn't in the mood for a love triangle. As the book progressed, though, I warmed up to her.

In Helix, we see new branches of ISAN and bigger plots, which gave the story a lot more depth. It didn't feel like they were isolated anymore. I also really loved how loyal Ava was to Brooke. She could have just walked away from ISAN and never looked back, but she was determined to get Brooke out, too.

Definitely a book (and series) I recommend! I can't wait to keep going and see what happens to all my favorite (and new favorite) characters.

What kind of ending was that? Now I need the text one!!
I received this copy in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to Mary and her team!
I read ISAN last month and I knew right away that I was going to love this series. Honestly, the whole dystopian//secret agency deal was fantastic and extremely interesting.
This book starts exactly where the other one ended, but this time we have Rhett's POV. I really appreciate that now we can learn more about him since I fell in love with this man during the last book. But we still have Ava's POV too, so don't worry about that.
HELIX is filled with action everywhere, tons and tons of secrets that are going to make your head 💥🤯 We meet new characters and find out stuff about others (there's this revelation that I never saw coming).
Like I said, I need the next one like right now. I can't wait to know what Mary's going to give us next!
If you read ISAN before and aren't sure if you should keep going with this series, then let me tell you something: Get a copy of HELIX today because it is awesome.

Mary Ting- You do it again!! Geez, this series just keeps getting better and better. I enjoyed ISAN, but getting even more details and experiences from BOTH Ava and Rhett- I am a huge fan of the dual POV and getting motives behind stuff- was freaking everything!

This book was action freaking packed with so much going on, but not too much where you are not able to take a second and breathe. It is so freaking crazy how many questions can be answered but then a gazillion more are added in! This series really came into it's own with how the story progressed and I was freaking hooked!

All in all, if you like young adult dystopian reads with some romance thrown in, Helix will DEFINITELY be your jam, just make sure that you read the first book in the series first. 5 outta 5 stars and looking forward to the next book!

PS: Thank you to Mary Ting and Xpresso Book Tours for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!
