The Bennett Family #1

Always Been You

Rate this book
Eight years ago, a scandal ripped my family apart and cost me the only man I’ve ever loved- Parker Bennett.

Now I finally have my life back together… a successful flower shop, good friends and I’ve convinced myself I can handle anything thrown my way.

Until I see him again.

I should have said no when his wealthy, sophisticated mother walked into my shop asking me to create centerpieces for her anniversary party. But my best friend convinced me that the high profile event would be great for business. Against my better judgement I took the job, telling myself I was over him.

After all, he’s been in Manhattan for eight years, building a reputation as the millionaire CEO of his family’s hotel empire. Rumor has it he’s also become a charming playboy who collects hearts all over town… then breaks them.

But the second I saw him standing in front of me, I knew I was in trouble. All I can think about is how good I felt in his arms. And when I give into the temptation to feel that way again, I discover the fire between us burns even hotter.

Parker is successful, confident and hotter than hell. He can have any woman he wants, but he’s asking for a second chance with me.

Saying yes would mean not only risking my heart, but the life I’ve worked so hard to put back together.

But how can I walk away when he tells me I’ve always been the one?

Always Been You is the perfect summer romance. This book had me smiling, laughing and swoony the entire way through. I absolutely fell in love with Olivia and Parker. I am officially #TeamParkey.

It’s been eight years since Parker and Olivia last saw each other. Eight years since they have spoken a word to each other. You don’t forget your first love and the only person you have ever loved. Now, they are face to face and in an instant all those feelings come to the surface. The chemistry between Parker and Olivia is off the charts. These two are meant for each other and you can feel their love for each other oozing off the pages.

Parker is the ultimate book boyfriend. He is caring, sweet, charming and just hands down swoony. He remembers the small details and treats Livy with so much love and respect. It is impossible not to fall for him. Livy is someone who you instantly want to be best friends with. She is caring, supportive and just beautiful inside and out.

I loved the secondary characters in this story, too. From Livy’s best friend, Ellie, to her sister, Kate, and of course the rest of the Bennett siblings, Liam, Miles and Jules. I can’t wait for more of all these characters!

If you’re looking for a small town, second chance romance this is one to read!

Second chance, small town, young love, and meddling family (not in a problematic way). In small town stories esp for the first book of a series, I sometimes worry that the MCs will be overshadowed by all the town scenes, families and friends.
I'm happy it wasn't the case for H Parker and h Livy.

The book centered on the MCs' reconciliation and character/relationship development with just the right amount of sweet, funny and sad moments. The flashbacks of teen H/h are adorable, sneaking around to spend time alone. 😅
Unfortunately, something big happened to h's family that made her push H away.
8 yrs later, with the help of families and friends, H/h's second chance at love is finally here! H's like a lost puppy the few times h ran away from him.
Aah it's sweet and swoony.
I felt their connection, their pain, their love. ❤️

A fabulous debut for this writing duo; you had me at second chance! I will be following/stalking them for more books. A great summer read beach settings, family, great dialog, and steam. Parker and Olivia have been apart for eight years. It takes his parent's anniversary party for them to reconnect. But, once Parker sees Olivia again, he is determined to woo her back.

They do have a few obstacles to overcome, distance, as their jobs are not in the same city. Will they make things work? Rooting for them to fall in love again is easy.

Such a fun, light summer read. I've been all about the dark lately so this was a lovely little trip to the light side. A great first novel by these two. It's got it all, a spunky FMC, a swoon-worthy MMC, a loveable supporting cast and some good old steam. A great introduction into a world I know I'll be visiting again.

Lily Miller's debut is a sweet summer romance. It follows Olivia Madden and Parker Bennett as they fall in love all over again. After breaking up eight years ago - following some family tragedy and other things I cannot tell you just yet - Olivia and Parker have gone off their own ways to do their own thing. Olivia now runs a successful flower shop in their small town of Reed Point, while Parker works for the family business in New York. They've managed to survive without each other for eight years, but when obligations bring Parker home, everything suddenly turns upside down.

This book has two of my favourite tropes - small town and second chance romance - so I was ready to dive into it almost as soon as it was released. Olivia and Parker are great characters too and I loved watching their relationship unfold, giving you a hint into what things might have been like when they were teenagers. Now in 20s, the two of them have other responsibilities and have a lot of history that they need to sort through before they can be with each other. The one thing I really enjoyed about this relationship was that Olivia had done the breaking up and Parker comes back, wanting another chance. And he's not subtle about it either. He's never stopped loving Olivia and he wants her to give them one more chance to see that they're really good together.

I absolutely loved this small town, all of its residents and the relationships that are forged through these characters. Olivia's friendship with Ellie was wonderful and Parker's relationship with his entire family is one that I want more of for sure. I liked how even though they were all supporting characters, they had a role to play in the larger picture and that had me hooked, because I wanted to see where it would all go.

My only issue with the story was that I didn't feel connected to the two main characters. I liked watching their relationship fall back into place, but I didn't feel that love and affection that two people would have after being together for a long time and then being affected by the presence of the other after eight years.

All in all, this was a great debut from the duo of Lily Miller and I look forward to reading more by them!

This stunning debut novel by authors, Lily and Miller, follows Olivia and Parker as they find their way back together after years of separation. Breaking up at eighteen, Olivia and Parker followed opposite paths that led them anywhere but together for years. Olivia opened a flower shop with her best friend Ellie while Parker worked for his father and their company opening managing hotels along the east coast. When Parker’s mom walks into Bloom, Olivia and Ellie’s flower shop, wanting their help designing arrangements for her anniversary party, Olivia can’t say no. With the party approaching, Olivia’s fear of running into Parker after all these years grows stronger, and when they do cross paths, the flames that ignited as teenagers sparks right back up again. Will Olivia and Parker be able to make their relationship work this time around? You’re going to have to read this book to find out, and trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

I was so excited to read this debut novel, and it captivated me right from the beginning. Olivia and Parker, along with every character that surrounded them, were so lively, funny, charming, and relatable. The dynamics created for this book were really beautiful, and it absolutely amazed me.

The storyline itself was magnificent. I loved that this book followed a structure that I haven’t read a ton of in the contemporary romance genre. The past struggles that Olivia and Parker both had to deal with, along with their very understandable contemplations about the future were honest and admirable. Their story is one for the books–literally–and I cannot praise Lily and Miller on their first book enough. It was so good. I’m definitely adding this to my re-read list.

While the actual formatting of this book was different from what I’m used to, it definitely didn’t distract me in any way. This story was so captivating, elegant, and beautiful. I loved it. So much. Ohmygod. *Sighs heavily* I want a Parker.

Everyone follow @authorlilymiller on Instagram and PLEASE go out and get this book. Read it. You won’t be disappointed. I know I wasn’t!

As always, let me know what you thought of Always Been You by Lily Miller in the comments below, and let’s talk about how perfect Parker is while we’re at it. I want him.

What a fantastic debut novel and I for one will certainly be following this new writing duo. This is Parker and Olivia’s entertaining second chance at love and their story will appeal to a wide range of audiences.
Parker is back in his hometown for his mother’s anniversary and that means coming face to face with the woman he hasn’t spoken in eight years after a scandal tore them apart. You never forever your first love and it’s clear from the very start that these two still have feelings for each other. But will either of them act on the feelings or the seriously hot chemistry they share and will they get the HEA they both deserve …. Guess you need to to read the hook to find that out.
I fell hard and fast for Parker, he is caring, sweet and totally swoon worthy, Olivia is easy to love and relate to and she is the girl we would all love in our corner so all I’m going to say is please one click this gem of a read, you won’t be disappointed. If this book is anything to go by this talented pair certainly have a promising career ahead of them.

Always Been You is such an amazing book! It’s filled with heart, humour, sexiness, steaminess, friendships, family and the kind of love you dream about. Parker is kind, wealthy and gorgeous. He’s dreamy. He can have any girl he wants, but he wants her. Livy is a sweetheart, with great friends and a growing flower business. She finally has got her life back on track…until Parker comes back to Reed Point.
Livy and Parker’s chemistry is undeniable and I couldn’t get enough. I loved every minute of this sexy second chance love story. I could not put it down. This book made me laugh, cry and swoon. I totally and completely fell for these two…their passion for each other was off the charts.
I adored all the characters in this book: Parker, Livy, Miles, Liam, Jules and Ellie.
I really hope this is the first of many books to come from Lily Miller. They know how to write a good book, I’m not done with these characters yet...I want more. 🔥❤️

"This is such a wonderful second chance at love story - which just so happens to be one of my favorite tropes. Parker is one of those heroes that is beyond swoony. The things he says to Olivia had me almost giddy at times and then he backs up those words with actions and lordy what a character!!!
Olivia also is a fabulous character. I loved how she turned her life around not letting her past define who she is now. She has surrounded herself with great friends who I have to add all contribute to make this the great book it is. I honestly hope that all of these characters end up with their own stories in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book."

Always Been You by Lily Miller is a sweet, second chance romance. Livy and Parker were always meant to be together, they had something special, but in the blink of an eye Livy’s world is torn apart and she leaves behind the only man that she has ever loved! Fast-forward eight years and Livy is thrown into Parker’s circles again when she is asked to arrange flowers for his mother’s anniversary and literally, we have instant sparkles! But is Livy willing to risk everything she has worked for to be with Parker and is he willing to change his life in New York to come back home?

This was a beautiful story seen through both Livy and Parker’s eyes. Livy came across as really vulnerable due to her past hurts and she certainly didn’t want to get hurt again, no matter how much she loved Parker. I loved the moments when she was at the beach as it gave her such in depth feeling as a character as she thought through her choices, not only for herself and Parker, but also for the rest of her family.

I really enjoyed Parker as a character, he knew that he still wanted Livy and was honest in how it made him feel when she broke them up. At times, he was a little too understanding, but it definitely worked for this couple. I also loved Parker’s family, they offered some great advice and didn’t hold what Livy’s dad did against her.

This was such a sweet romance, with some scorching scenes between the main characters. I loved how in sync they were even though sometimes their lack of communication was a little frustrating and got in the way of them having their happily-ever-after a little quicker.
Overall, a really good second chance, feel good story!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

4 Star Review of Always Been You by Lily Miller

Lily Miller is a new author to me and I am surprised I have not come across her books before. This was an entertaining second chance at love story for Parker and Olivia.

They haven’t spoken in eight years since a scandal ripped them apart but when Parker returns to town for his mother’s anniversary that quickly changes. It’s obvious that these two still have feelings for one another, the big question is whether they will act on them?

Parker is your typical alpha millionaire, totally focused, driven and determined to get what or who he wants and that just happens to be a second chance with Olivia. Will Olivia be prepared to put not only her heart but her professional life on the line to take another chance at love with Parker?

This was a well written story that had me swooning and smiling whilst reading. Not only did I fall for Parker and Olivia but the secondary characters added an additional layer to my enjoyment.

Always Been You is Lily Miller’s debut novel and a fabulous small town, second chance romance! Parker and Olivia have been apart for eight years and they reconnect at his parents' anniversary party. After their chance meeting and the reigniting of sparks between them, Parker vows to woo Olivia back. These two were always meant to be together and when Olivia a scandal caused them to part, she was devastated. These two have obstacles to overcome and it remains to be seen if they will make it work.

This sweet, yet steamy romance is a well-written story that had me hooked from the start. I loved these characters! Parker is driven, focused, yet sweet and charming. Olivia is strong, independent, and determined to make something of herself despite her past. The chemistry between these two was undeniable. I also enjoyed the relationship these two characters had with the supporting characters in this book. Lily Miller left me wanting more, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

The perfect summer romance! If you are looking for a book that makes you swoon and giggle, and with some steam… then look no further.

“I want more of you. This is it for me. It’s only you. It’s always been you.”

I am in utter shock that this was a first time book for the duo. The story flowed so well and introduced us to some characters that I can’t wait to read about. Fans of Melanie Harlow and Corrine Michaels need to check out this books!
I can’t wait to see what else Lily Miller will do! Looking forward to future releases!

Beautiful

Right years is a long time to love someone from afar...

Parker and Olivia lost each other over a lie but never stopped loving each other. All they need was to share the same space again to realize it.

When the love is as strong as theirs, it's worth fighting for!

DNF @ 34% there was something that just wasn’t gelling with me and I felt a lil bit bored? The dialogue felt really stiff, and I wasn’t a fan of the writing style. Plus the whole premise is they’ve been apart for 8 years but they get together again in the space of literally 2 days? Not for me.

This is a debut novel from a writing duo but I hope it won’t be the last collaboration we see from them. I loved Always Been You. It’s a story of first love and second chances in a small town setting. Parker and Livy were childhood sweethearts until Livy abruptly dumped Parker when they were eighteen with no explanation. Fast forward eight years and Parker has returned to their hometown for his parents anniversary. One look at Livy, who has been hired by his mother to do the flowers for the party, and all the old feelings come flooding back for him and this time the man the boy has become isn’t going to accept being pushed away quite so easily.

The story itself may be a little sweet and predictable but for me the important part of any book is the characters. When I get to the final page and I’m wondering what happens next in their lives, then I know I’ve loved a book and with Always Been You I loved the characters right from the start. They’re so well written I felt myself cheering them on from the side-lines, willing them to find their happily ever after. The secondary characters are great as well and I hoping we’ll hear more from them in any subsequent books.

3.75/5 ⭐️

I loved the tropes on this book; dual POV, second chance romance, it’s always been you, small town, insta-love. and Parker was SO dreamy. And don’t get me started on some of the quotes in this book 😭😭😭😭 i think i fell in love with parker as soon as i met him.

I felt like the first 60% was all plain sailing but i was almost waiting for parker to mess up as he seemed way too good to be true but it didn’t happen! and then all of a sudden IT happened and i’m just not sure i would’ve forgiven/believed as quick as olivia did :( but maybe that’s a me issue 🤣

I would deffo recommend if insta-love is your thing, even if it’s not this book was such an easy and cutesy read (with spice of course 😉) that you should 100% give it a try.

Parker Bennett is swoon worthy.
Parker and Olivia’s characters were written so thoroughly and developed so beautifully throughout the book it was so easy to get lost in their world. It also made it so easy to fall for their relationship. There was amazing spice. An amazing love story. Beautiful family dynamics. I can’t wait to get to the next books!

This is hands down such a cute and fun summer read!! I loved every second of it even though I’m still in a little book slump but it being a second chance romance had me invested immediately!

The one thing that stood out the most was the FANATASTIC communication between Olivia and Parker!! It honestly amazed me so much because the way they could talk to each other and sort things out in seconds had me dead! Never witnessed a better non-miscommunication trope!!

I honestly love the entire universe and that doesn’t happen often but I swear these are all the most genuine and sweet characters!! I had a blast reading about them!

Also, the smuttttt 👀👀👀 GAHWDAYUM no it had no business being this good!!

I honestly can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Last week I stopped in Starbucks for an iced coffee on my way to study at the library. When I tasted the coffee I immediately called them to let them know there was no flavor; they gave me a cup of iced beige milk. I couldn’t drink it. It had no taste and I hate milk. 🥛

Which brings me to this story 🫣

Parker and Livvy were high school sweethearts and are smitten again after seeing each other for the first time in 8 years.

It just didn’t have the flavor I needed to reel me in. In this second chance romance I learned what “love bombing” means. Parker went way over the top to win Livvy back, and she did the bare minimum. But it worked, quickly.

I didn’t understand why Livvy was still so mad at him after 8 years apart. I didn’t understand why his family was so pressed that he “fight for her” after one chance encounter.

So what’s the flavor that could’ve made the difference? A little angst, some playing hard to get, a little more chemistry, some drama, maybe more on her father’s dealings, etc.

The cover is so cute! I feel this would be a good read for fans of HEAs and light/airy small-town romance.

April was all about the #indiespinesreadathon for me and I’m still glad to have won the book and read the opinions of others’ in the @indiespines book club discussion!

tropes

childhood lovers
second chance
One night stand kind of guy

This was such an easy and fast read! If you are looking for a cute read, without too much drama, this is definitely the one.

You'll come to know Olivia and Parker, two beautiful and pure souls. Both independent. I like to believe that they needed those years to develop without each other, to find their true voice. I have to be honest, at first, I thought things were moving too fast. But I tried to put myself in their place. Almost 30 years old, knowing the strong connection I had with a person, I would never think twice. I mean, I will totally try. Trying is better than being afraid to do it and then regretting my decision.

I've never read this kind of story. Is sappy, extremely cute, and you won't feel the need to throw the book away haha. I was pretty upset with Olivia when she didn't communicate but she was pretty easy to forgive.

Remember this is their first book and I couldn't be more proud. THEY DID SOO GOOOD! Lily, Miller, I love you and I'm so genuinely proud that I'm here from the beginning. Can't wait to read the next book to see your development.

What a great debut by Lily Miller! I was interested in reading since, like myself, it’s a best friend duo that wrote the story. You couldn’t tell that there were two authors at all! The characters were so sweet and easy to fall in love with. The setting was dreamy and something I’ve yet to experience (I need to get to the east coast someday) but I felt like I was in that little coastal town with the characters. This was a strong start and I can’t wait to watch their growth in the next books!! Excited for Liam and Ellie!

What happens when you have two people destined to be together torn apart by tragedy, jealousy and lack of communication—the pitfalls of being human? You get a well written, very sweet second chance romance like Always Been You by Lily and Miller.

Olivia (Livy) Madden and Parker Bennet are meant for one another but due to jealousy and betrayal their relationship is torn apart. Their relationship may have ended but did their love?

When you ride the waves of heartache how do you survive?

You reinvent yourself; take the time to become whole again. That’s what Livy did. Livy dove head first into her dream shop, Bloom, to find solace. Parker did the same, trying to fill the hole of losing Livy by concentrating on the Seaside Hotels, his family’s empire.

Fast forward eight years, Livy’s shop is now striving. Fate steps in and sets things in motion for her and Parker when his mother hires Bloom for her anniversary party.

I really loved Parker and Livy’s comeback. He was an amazing guy with an equally amazing family. The Bennetts were the epitome of family strength.

Lily and Miller did an amazing job with their debut novel writing from both Livy and Parker’s point of view. And Always About You is about more than just romantic second chances, as there is another story with Livy and her family dealing with her dad getting out of prison. Life brought Parker and Livy back together at a time Livy needed to witness what strength in family truly was, a time hers was trying to mend itself.

I also thoroughly enjoyed Ellie and Livy’s relationship. I had plenty of laugh out loud moments with some of their conversations. Theirs was a testament to what healthy relationships can be.

If you want to read a sweet romance with a tinge of spice, that also teaches you about forgiveness and how important communication with those you love is, then read this gem by the wonderful authors Lily and Miller. I thoroughly enjoyed this one!

Always Been You is the first book in the Bennett Family Series. Looking forward to reading more about the Bennett Family and anything from Lily and Miller.
