Retaj Hotels and Hospitality adds a new hotel to its portfolio in Africa in the Republic of Sudan

According to the signed agreement, Retaj Hotels and Hospitality will add a new hotel to its portfolio in Africa, in line with its long-term plans to expand globally and locally by 2030 to provide multiple options in a number of the most important global tourist destinations, where its name is associated with authentic Arab hospitality, that is reflected in its concept and philosophy, which it seeks to spread throughout the world.
His Excellency Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani said: “I would like to thank Lieutenant-General/ Munawar Othman Naqd, Deputy Chief of Staff, Administration and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Armed Forces Clubs and Hotels, and the accompanying delegation for their confidence in the “Retaj” brand which was based on our good reputation and our strong experience within the local, regional, and global markets.”
He also stressed that: “The Qatari-Sudanese relations are strong, well-established, and historical, and the two countries are joined in bonds of brotherhood, and today’s signature is a translation of those strong relations, while considering the common interests of both parties. The Republic of Sudan is famous for its beautiful nature that distinguishes it and makes it a tourist destination worth discovering, as well as archaeological and historical sites. The hotel, which will be managed by Retaj Hotels and Hospitality, is in Khartoum, which is the capital and one of the most beautiful cities in Sudan. It enjoys a charming location at the intersection between the Blue Nile and the White Nile, and It also includes many wonderful tourist attractions.”
His Excellency added: “Retaj Hotels and Hospitality will manage and operate a five-star hotel under its top brand, Retaj Royal, in Khartoum, Sudan. The hotel is less than five minutes from Khartoum International Airport. The hotel has 114 rooms and suites, restaurants, a multi-purpose meeting and event hall, a swimming pool, a spa, and a gym. We are confident that the Retaj Royal brand will provide guests with the highest levels of service and luxury.”
His Excellency Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani concluded his speech by saying: “Our expansion plans are continuing, with the recent signing of a hotel management contract in Georgia and today’s announcement of an agreement to open a new hotel in the Republic of Sudan, in addition to the Company’s expansion plans in Asia, Africa and Europe.”
From his side, Lieutenant-General Munawar Othman Naqd, Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Clubs and Hotels of the Armed Forces, said: “The Sudanese Armed Forces have an old history in the field of clubs and hotels, where the idea of the club began in 1907, after the graduation of the first batch of officers from the Military School. The club occupies an area of about 33,000 square meters and continued to provide its services until an area of 19,688 square meters was deducted for the construction of the current hotel, which began in 2015, the hotel was designed by Borouge Engineering Company according to the latest findings in architecture and was implemented to the fullest by Shawahiq Company under the direct supervision of its general manager, Major General/ Mohamed Siddik, and under engineering advice from the engineering advisor to the Commander in Chief, Major General Engineer/ Amir, The hotel was designed to be a qualitative leap in the hotel services in Sudan and to serve the guests of Sudan and the Sudanese as well, and we have endeavored to make the management at the same level of design.”
He added: “ After the completion of more than 90% of the hotel’s internal and external works, the hotel management was put up in a transparent bid to reach the best hotel operator company that has cumulative experience in this field and more than 14 companies applied. Therefore, the screening process continued for 4 months. and the choice fell on Retaj Hotels and Hospitality because of its expertise and capabilities in hotel management, through which it can implement the goals we have planned for this hotel.”
He concluded by saying: "What distinguishes the hotel is the excellent design and the good distribution of rooms in addition to providing the highest level of services and its inclusion of all facilities such as swimming pools, gym, health center, medical services, in addition to external services for the general public, We are very happy with this choice of Retaj as an operator, and we look forward to seeing this agreement as a good start for many pioneering projects and real partnerships that serve the interests of both countries as well as investors.”
