Kate Stacy’s Engage is a steamy, emotionally-gripping contemporary romance written in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes Worlds project.

After closing one chapter of my life, I’m ready to start the next. But marrying my baby daddy’s twin brother wasn’t exactly what I had in mind.

Brooke

Shane Masters isn’t the reason I came back to Sunnyville. In fact, I only returned to tell his brother that I’m pregnant with his baby. Then, I found out that he’s married, already has children of his own, and wants nothing to do with my baby.
Despite all that, I decide to settle here for a while. I’m low on funds, need regular prenatal care, and can’t keep traveling as my pregnancy progresses. And Shane? Well, he might have the answer to all my problems.

Shane

As a respected officer with the Sunnyville Police Department, I pride myself on my morals. Typically, I see the world in black and white, but not when it comes to Brooke Foster. She’s a bit of a gray area.
Usually, I’d avoid getting involved in the messes my no good brother gets himself into, but this time he’s gone too far. If cheating on his wife isn’t bad enough, he got Brooke pregnant and refuses to take responsibility. If he won’t do the right thing, I will.

Getting married is a simple solution, but it creates a whole new problem. The more time I spend with Brooke, the more I want our marriage to be a little less convenient and a lot more real. Can I convince her to give me a chance, or will she always see my brother when she looks at me?

This is a well written book that grabbed me right from page one and didn't let go till I reached the last page. This is Brooke and Shane's story. The author does a fantastic job bringing the story to life with her detailed and descriptive writing. She brings so many emotions and packs the story with drama, violence, anxiety, support, determination and love. I loved her determination as well as his as they work through every obstacle thrown at them He really turns into her hero. I loved this book and enjoyed reading their story.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

Shane is the epitome of a true everyday hero.

Shane is the epitome of a true everyday hero, and working in their local Police Department, he fitted effortlessly into the world of Author K. Bromberg’s, Grant Malone. Kate Stacy’s contribution to the Everyday Heroes world is a romantic suspense that kept me on edge, all while maintaining her trademark sarcastically brilliant vibe throughout the book.

ENGAGED is a complete stand-a-lone, but if you’ve read Ms Stacy’s WHISKEY BEGINNINGS and WHISKEY TEMPTATIONS, you’ll have met the beleaguered Brooke, and know about her reference to treating a past boyfriend carelessly. Maybe you’ll even have formed a strong opinion of her. If not, then I do highly recommend these and Ms Stacy’s other books as awesome reading, but if not, then you’re all good. You’ll get a sense of Brooke’s character as she moves forward and realises just how much she needs to settle in and make plans now. Compromise and learning to accept help were what she needed to learn, and I loved that she was no game player.

I just loved Shane from that first chapter. He is exactly why the dual POV in romance is my favourite – we get into our hero’s head and see what makes him tick. The guy was seriously hot property and as chivalrous as they come, but to know about how attractive he found the fiercely independent Brooke, and all of the things he wanted to be doing with this gorgeous woman who was pregnant with his twin brother’s baby, really made for great reading. I loved this small twist on this brother’s baby story, and there can’t be many people out there who don’t know a set of identical twins. My neighbour friend is an identical twin who is alike in every way they move, laugh and in every mannerism – except personality. There, she and her sister are complete opposites. And in the same way, it seems that Shane, our hot-cop took all the best bits in the personality and honour stakes, leaving his brother incredibly bereft in that area.

How can you get a romantic suspense out of this I hear you ask?? Ms Stacy did it perfectly, and I read ENGAGED in one hit. If this is your first experience with her writing and you’ve loved it, then set to and discover the rest of her books. They’re all 5-Star reads, just like this one 🛡🖤❃

When I first read the synopsis for this book, I thought to myself, 'how the heck is this going to play out?'
One twin impregnates a woman and the other twin marries her....huh?
Well, let me tell you that Engage turns out to be a real page-turner that's not so much about romance and instant love, but being selfless and doing the right thing for an innocent little human.

The best part of this book were the characters.
Brooke was brought up through the broken foster care system, which makes her strong, fierce, and able to stand on her own two feet. She's accustomed to moving around a lot, but with a baby on the way, it's time to settle down and provide her child the stable life she never had. Love isn't in the cards for her....or is it?
Shane is the knight in shining armor who steps up to the plate for Brooke when his sleazy twin brother refuses to acknowledge the child she's carrying is his. Shane is the epitome of gallant by offering a marriage of convenience so that Brooke and the baby can have a stable home. He also might have ulterior motives as he is instantly attracted to beautiful Brooke.
When that simmering flame burst into a full-blown fire, watch out! It's sizzling hot!
And then there's Simon. The bad twin. He's self-centered and grows increasingly angry when Brooke refuses to leave town. Did I mention he's married? Oh boy.....

So many layers to this story that you won't be able to put it down.

I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Great book! We were introduced to Brooke being Holden’s ex who we first read from the Stars align series and Whiskey Temptations.

But now we get to know Brooke a little better. We understand her misgivings but love how she’s determine your make a better life for her child. As she roamed around from state to state, she is ready to settle down now that her life has a new beginning.

Coming back to the town she never thought she would see so soon, and unfortunately things don’t go as planned. Her casual hook up Simon , now can be deemed as a sperm donor only after hearing the most shocking and unforeseen news!!

To to make matters worse she runs into the same face of the Simon only to be told that is his twin brother and they are nothing alike.

Shane is awestruck when he meets Brooke. He’s drawn to her but he doesn’t know why. After getting the details of how she meet Simon, he feels for her and wants to help anyway he can.

The back and forth with Brooke and Shane are a great combination that gives a nice flow to the story. With a more in depth background of Brooke and some major unfortunate events.

Enjoyed every moment, was sadden when I got to the end. Hope to read about Shane and Brooke in the future!!

I am not familiar with the Everyday Heroes World, I have no clue who any of the characters were but that made no difference. Brooke made the long journey from NC to Cali, her intent to let the father of her child know that he or she is baking. What she didn't expect was Simon (sperm donor) showing his true self and revealing that he's married. I'm not sure why Brooke decided to stay in the little town, I kept thinking girl get out of there and start new somewhere else, but that would obviously defeat the purpose of the story. But stay she does, and she gets a hotel room and finds a job, she also meets Shane, Simon's twin brother. Shane actually offers to help Brooke out, marry him and that gives her a place to stay, help, and health benefits. At first Brooke isn't sure what to think of the offer, but after some drama she takes him up on that offer. What happens when Brooke's drama doesn't end and just keeps escalating?

This was a good story filled with everything you want, danger, violence, mystery, loads of drama, and steaming hot naughty bits. I really enjoyed this read and will look into this world a little more. I give this 4 stars.

Building a Family . . .

Brooke Foster finds out she is pregnant and goes to find the baby-daddy and let him know. Instead, she finds Simon is married, has kids, and wants nothing to do with their baby. Not having much money, she decides to stay in Sunnyville for now. Then her baby-daddy’s twin makes an offer to solve her problem.

Shane Masters is an officer with the Sunnyville Police Department. Completely different from his twin, he values morals. Seeing his brother turn her away and not take responsibility, Shane steps up to offer her a marriage of convenience. He can provide a place to live, constant support, and health insurance for her and the baby. He feels compelled to do the right thing for her. There is just one little problem. He is attracted to and falling hard for Brooke. Will she consider giving him a chance to love her and the baby? Or will she refuse, seeing Simon’s face every time she looks at Shane?

Brooke Foster hasn't had an easy life so far. She met and hooked up with Simon Masters in Sunnyville 5 months ago and then left only to find out she was pregnant. She decides she should return to let Simon know, only it doesn't turn out the way she thought. He wants to hook up again until she gives him the news and then he gets angry and she finds out he's married with kids. As she is leaving the diner she runs into a guy coming in that looks familiar, it happens that Simon has a twin brother, Shane. Brooke decides to stay in Sunnyville and gets a job as a bartender.
Shane Masters is an upstanding guy and a police officer for the City of Sunnyville. He sees his brother and then this girl leaving and of course hears the "whole story" from his brother. He is angry at his brother and ends up meeting Brooke later on and offers to help her. His solution is let's get married!
The more time they spend together the closer they become. But can they trust each other and really give it a chance? And who is stalking her and can Shane keep her safe?

5 Star review of Engage (The Everyday Heroes World) by Kate Stacy

One of the things I have enjoyed about this series is discovering new authors, such as Kate Stacy. This was an a steamy, at times emotional story that drew me in and quickly had me hook, line and sinker.
It was great returning to Sunnyville for Shane Masters and Brooke Foster’s complicated love story. Imagine Brooke’s shock when she finds out that the man she is pregnant to is already married, has children and wants nothing to do with her or her unborn child . That is the position Brooke finds herself in when she arrives in Sunnyville with very little money. Shane is the brother of the baby’s father and he is disgusted with his brothers behaviour and offers to step us any marry Brooke.
That’s when the real complications arise. As they spend time getting to know one another feelings arise. Can Shane convince Brooke that he is nothing life his brother ant to give him a chance? This was an emotional story and you could feel the anxiety and angst. I love Shane, he was there for Brooke when she needed him and did everything he could to be the man she could love and depend on.

Trying to do the right thing ,, she tracks him down to let him know , boy oh boy is she surprised to find out not only is he married but also has two kids . What a Ahole , no. Redeeming qualities at all . Only one positive things comes out of it ( her discovery of his twin brother who steps up to help Brooke .They end up getting married and to their surprise , not only does a relationship develop between them , but their feelings grow from innocent to so much more . I adored this story so much . Truly a emotional and beautiful love story about love , family , sediment chances and so much more . I cannot recommend this amazing book highly enough

The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Brooke and Shane's story. She came to town to tell the father of her baby he would be a dad that is until she found out he already is. Now she is just trying to get by. Shane is fed up with her brother and all the trouble he finds himself into. He steps up to take care of Brooke. But what starts out as a simple solution to the problem turns into so much more. Now he wants her for himself. But will she compare him to the brother that got her into this mess to begin with or can they build a future that is just them?

I recommend this book.

When Brooke finds herself about to become a mother she returns to town to let her baby’s father know only to find out that he isn’t the man she thought he was. It only reinforces her opinion that the only one she can depend on is herself until Shane comes into her life.

Shane is a police officer and the twin brother of her baby’s father. When he finds out about the situation she is in he is determined to not only marry her but protect her and her baby from the increasing danger they find themselves in.

As they spend time together there is no denying the physical and emotional connection between them but only they can decide if it is strong enough to last a lifetime.

Brook has been a drifter, on her own for years but after meeting Simon and getting pregnant she comes back to his town to tell him, only to find out he’s married with two children and wants nothing to do with her or the baby. She ends up meeting his twin Shane who offers to marry her and be the baby’s father..
He’s a policeman and decent man. Simon begins to stalk Brooke and cause lots of problems while Shane marries and protects Brooke and go own to eventually get their HEA.. Highly recommend this great book.

This is my first foray into this Everyday Heroes world and I loved it! Brooke and Shane's story is heart wrenching at times When Brooke finds out she is pregnant, she finds out he is married with some children. She does the mature thing and needs to find housing for her and her baby. When she bumps into his twin Shane, everything takes a different turn. Together, they make a family and have an HEA.I volunteered to review this story and will certainly have a look at the other books in this series.

I really, really wanted to hate Brooke (once I remembered who she was), but this book... I just couldn't.

Shane gave me hope in the male population.

You know you want to find out the meanings behind my vague comments. This book will excite you, melt you, have you at the edge of your seat so ticked off you want to scream, and then some. Read it for yourself!

The upstanding twin marries the pregnant one night stand, and love ensues.

Brooke and Shane enter into a marriage of convenience after Shane’s no good, married twin brother Simon gets Brooke pregnant. Shane, Brooke and Christy (Simon’s wife) are all affected by Simon’s narcissistic and selfish ways, but Shane stepping in to help and protect Brooke and her unborn baby wins him the hero of the year award. Shane and Brooke develop real feelings for each other and it’s nice to see them get a happy ending despite his selfish twin brothers actions

Engage by Kate Stacy drew me in from start. Interesting characters that are well developed. Part of the everyday heroes series. Talk about a strong female character struggling with drama, suspense, violence, someone trying to kill her and possible chance at love. I couldn’t put down.

Engage is the newest addition to The Everyday Heroes World series and it was a doozy. My heart went out to Brooke all through this book and Shane stepped up to the plate when he didn't have to. I did not expect this book to go the way it did but that's what made it even more enjoyable.

I found myself really liking Brooke, even though I was afraid to at first. But she was honest to a fault, strong, unwilling to compromise her determination to do the right thing, and easy to like. And even with the unconventional way she and Shane came to be, I had to like their story. A lot. He may have done some saving, but Brooke also managed to save herself plenty, and she managed to find herself a place to finally belong in the process.

I think that this is a fantastic addition to the Everyday Heroes world because both Shane and Brooke managed to be heroes in their own ways. They found their way to each other, to love, and to a super strong relationship neither of them expected to find. And the refusal to pit Brooke and Christy against each other? A wonderful decision. That epilogue made everything oh so warm and fuzzy that I almost wish I could read the book all over again for the first time!

I really loved this story, it packs a punch from start to finish. Brooke is pregnant after a fling with Simon, she tracks him down to let him know and discovers that he’s not only married but also has kids. He is an absolute piece of work with no redeeming features, apart from one, a twin brother who steps up to help Brooke. He suggests getting married and although Brooke isn’t sure, she agrees. There’s more trouble involving Simon when he finds out. Such a good story with lots of action. I loved it.

This book took me completely by surprise. In addition to the good samaritan Shane who ends up finding his heart and love and Brooke, a somewhat forlorn drifter who comes to crave roots, there is Simon, Shane's twin brother, the baby's biological father. He turns into a real monster, threatening not just their now-found happiness, but also their lives. Some very unexpected twists and turns, which kept me well-entertained until the end.

Stacy blows the heart wide open. Engage is an emotional dance of hearts that pushes it's luck with love. Shane and Brooke began in a moment of heartache and bloom into a beautifully flawed expression of what it means to love. From brutally honest to sweet and inspiring, Engage is a heartrending read that delves down deep to the soul.

Loved it 😍 I always disliked marriage of convenience / almost insta love stories but I am thinking maybe it just depends on the Author and how authentic they write the characters.

This was a fast paced read and I believe it was the first I had read in The Everyday Heroes world. I will definitely be checking out others to get some of the other characters stories.
