History

Established in 1886.
The history of this unimposing little café goes way back to 1886, although it has resided in the current building since 1952. With a renovation in 1994, patrons today will still enjoy generous meals at sensible prices. Where else may one dine within the same walls as presidents and legends? Former customers of the restaurant include Presidents Benjamin Harrison and Theodore Roosevelt, Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, John Wayne, Tom Mix, Charlie Chaplin, Doug Fairbanks, and Mary Pickford. The cast of CSI, as well as Drew Barrymore and Whoopi Goldberg, have filmed here.

  I go here all the time! Staff is always polite, smiling and attentive. A good in and out place! Big portions and nice antique atmosphere! If you want a meal that is under $30 for 2, come here! Great food!!

  New to town and the staff made me feel like I was one of the family. Meals are incredibly reasonable portions for price and was very well prepared by what I can only assume is a very prideful kitchen staff. Looking forward to many return visits. Staff are attentive and welcoming whether it's packed or with time to breath between servicing each guest. Comfort food at its best...

  I haven't been there since I was a teen in the 80's... food was surprisingly good... onion ring were fresh and crunchy... burger was huge and filling overall experience I won't wait 20+ to come back... nice staff also..
