Calling all Artists for Virtual Art Gallery Show Fundraiser: Fempocalypse!

Calling all artists! The Nightwood Innovators are searching for artists who would like their work to be featured in our virtual art gallery for the Fempocalypse fundraiser from March 31 to April 8, 2022. Our theme this year is Neo-Stalgia. We are looking for works that think and rethink about previous generations and how we can co-curate making a new and caring community. We invite you to dream together with us by mixing past comfort with retrofuturistic impulses. Works that invite us to pause and re-think the meaning of the past to create a new present and future. Or work that questions what was missing in the past to link it to the hope of building it into our future. Create with us a new nostalgia for what will or should come next.

What is Fempocalypse?

Fempocalypse is an annual fundraiser produced by the folks in Nightwood Theatre's Innovators Program in honour of International Women's Day, and this year we are also thrilled to be celebrating International Transgender Day of Visibility, which will mark the launch of our event on March 31st!. This year’s virtual event will include a cabaret-style show and a virtual arts gallery featuring a variety of performers and artists along with a silent auction. Fempocalypse: Neo-Staliga’s event will be available for 1 week for people to watch, engage with and donate to Water First.

What we are looking for?

We are looking for work from artists from across turtle island who want to engage with this year’s theme of Neo-Staliga. We invite 1-3 submissions per artist. We want to include artwork from across disciplines, such as paintings, drawings, sculptures, music, animation, dance, poetry or anything else that mixes or mingles within these forms. If you are interested please fill out this Google Form here.

It will ask for your name, contact details, to attach your artwork with an artistic statement (either written or audio/video will be accepted), the medium(s) you used, and your social media account(s) or website that you would like us to link to, your artist bio and headshot. The submission deadline is March 11, 2022, Midnight EST. For questions please contact us at NightwoodInnovators@gmail.com. Please include in the subject line Art Gallery.

By submitting your artwork(s) you are agreeing to:

We will feature your work on the virtual art gallery website for the weeklong charity event. Some artwork will be featured in the pre-show and post-show of the digital stream of the cabaret. We will link your work to your website or social media account to spread the word about your amazing work. This opportunity is not paid, we will strive to accommodate any production expenses but given this is a fundraiser there is limited funding available. The Nightwood Innovators will work hard to secure honorariums, but they are not guaranteed. In lieu of payment, we will feature your work during this event and link to your social media/websites.
