Once Upon a Sexy Scrooge

Ah, Christmas. The most magical time of the year. A time when the snow is falling, cider is flowing, and couples are kissing under the mistletoe.

Too bad all that makes me want to gag.

Look, it isn’t that I’m a hater, it’s just that I have a job to do, and this particular holiday is getting in the way of that. And I know what you’ll say, that Micah Noble’s Christmas Tree Farm is a beloved tradition for many of the families of Merrihill, but you have to see the bigger picture here: a five-star luxury resort where overworked Manhattanites can escape to, a serene place of spas and shopping and watching sexy lumberjacks chopping wood…

Oh, wait, scratch that last one. Lumberjacks aren’t my thing. Anymore. Micah Noble cured me of that, which tends to happen when you’re trying to buy someone’s family land to bulldoze to the ground.

He can call me a Scrooge all he wants, but business is business, and pleasure is…well, not something I can afford to think about. Even if it does come packaged in those tight jeans and flannel shirts that make me want to rip them off with my teeth—

No. This is not happening. I will not think of Micah as anything other than an obstacle to getting what I want. A really, really sexy obstacle.

Ugh. Screw Christmas and the sleigh it rode in on.

Once Upon a Sexy Scrooge is a stand alone, MM holiday book by Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine that I have fallen so in love with. I adore these two authors when they write together. To be honest, I read this over Christmas, so my reading time was greatly diminished. But every time I picked it back up, I was pulled right back in to this world and these two swoony men.

Maxwell Scott is every bit a Scrooge. He lives in New York and works for an acquisitions firm and is trying to make partner. In order to do so, they want to buy a Christmas tree farm in Vermont and turn it in to a swanky resort. But the owner has not been cooperating. So Maxwell is off to Vermont to convince the owner that selling is in his best interest.

Micah Noble is the owner of Noble’s Christmas Tree Farm in the quaint small town of Merrihill, Vermont. His farm and their yearly events they hold are a huge part of their town’s traditions. Micah and his siblings have no interest in selling and the town would not want a huge, posh resort in their midst. What better way to show the pushy Maxwell the true meaning of Christmas than to make sure he sticks around for a few days and experiences an authentic Noble Christmas.

In the beginning you might think these two were polar opposites. Micah the lumberjack tree farmer and Maxwell the suit wearing city boy. But really, Maxwell’s heart just needed some waking up. These two were so darn sweet together. Both made me swoon but I think it’s Micah that really stole my heart. I adored how he and his siblings were together. They bickered but they also loved and protected each other fiercely.

This was a sweet, sexy, heart warming holiday story that I adored. And now I really want to go to a holiday barn dance! Thanks again to these two authors for making my heart so happy.

*** I reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.***

Once Upon a Sexy Scrooge is an enjoyable Christmas story. This story features Micah and Maxwell, who could not be more different. One is a stuck-up city guy and the other is a relaxed country lumberjack. They should not work, but together they are fire. They are great complements to one another and I enjoyed getting to see their story. At times Maxwell is tough to like, but that also adds to his charm and personality.

Overall this is such a sweet story that is perfect to go along with the Christmas Season!!

Okay, I really only threw money at these two authors (again) to listen to Aiden Snow for five hours. And man was it worth it. That man. That voice. Worth every penny.

* .・☆゚*・゚ The one thing that came to mind when finishing this was awww. It was a nice and sweet, although very predictable holiday tale that was fun and swoony to read.

I think I’m done with acquisitions. I’m much more into couch warming these days. Or bed warming. Take your pick.” “Hmm.” Micah’s arms tightened around me. “The position is open, but I think I’ll need to interview you first. Both on the couch and the bed. To see where you’re best suited.”

“Fine, you can stay here.” I shoved open the wooden door to the cabin. “But you get in my way or piss me off in any way, I’m tossing your ass out quicker than you can say ‘bah humbug.’”

Once Upon a Sexy Scrooge is an enemies to lovers christmas romance, set on a Christmas tree farm.

Maxwell works for an acquisitions firm that wants to purchase Micah's property and turn it into a five-star resort for wealthy Manhattanites. After Maxwell fails to convince Micah what a good opportunity it is over the phone, he takes a trip to the Christmas tree farm to work his magic in person.

There's no chance Micah is selling, he values tree farm and the close-knit community of the town too much. When Maxwell's not so snow-worthy car fails to start, and the only garage closed for the holiday, Micah agrees to let him stay a couple of nights.

Micah takes the situation to try convince the scrooge Maxwell the importance of the community and how special it is to the christmas season.

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned over this past year, it’s that anywhere you are is where I’m best suited.”

__

I really enjoyed Maxwell and Micah's romance. They truly were at odds, and were enemies, in the beginning. The relationship arc was very well done; I loved their snarkiness and the sweet (and steamy) moments.

Maxwell was such a grinch and a scrooge all balled up into one. I still can't believe he told a kid that santa wasn't real and that their mom was the one buying the presents. “Santa isn’t real; it’s just your mom’s way of keeping your ass in line all year.” It was a funny moment but I wish it came back and bit him on the ass someway. A wasted opportunity for some more conflict between Maxwell and Micah.

I loves the scenes we got with Micah's family. They were so fun and xmas dinner scene was cosy.

I'm on a roll with adorable Christmas novellas! 🎄 And seriously, what's more Christmasy than a Scrooge!? I loved the small town magical feel with the Christmas tree farm and all the towns people coming together to celebrate. It all had such a romantic feel and I really enjoyed watching Micah bring Max's walls down while showing him all the things he loved about his home town. It was sweet, and insta-lovey but it took some time for them both to get their HEA. The meddling family members were also a joy and I loved how they all teased each other. You couldn't help but feel the love between them all and isn't that just what the Holidays are all about?

Micah + Maxwell

Micah is happy running his family's Christmas Tree Farm in Vermont.
And Maxwell is trying to buy the farm for his boss - to build a fancy resort.
Micah is so not planning on selling.
But he is kinda interested in this sexy suited city boy.
Maxwell is also mucho fascinated by the hot lumber jack - but he's here for business! And he hates Christmas!

Let the fun times begin.

Adorable!
I just love Christmas romances!
And this was so cute with the grumpy city guy and the hot country boy.
And all the snow and the Christmas Tree Farm Events and just the whole fireplacey atmosphere.
We so want those two guys to find their HEA with each other but it won't be easy - they live in and come from two different worlds...

I really enjoyed reading this. Nothing better than a little Christmas Novella and a mug of hot chocolate on a dark November afternoon!
I wouldn't have minded a real full-length book about those two!

I'm not a huge fan of the guy on the cover - he looks a bit too highschool bully-ish for my tastes. 🤷‍♀️ But pffft.

ONCE UPON A SEXY SCROOGE was an adorable and snowy and christmassy and vermonty M/M Holiday Romance!

This was just okay.

It improved as it went on, or should I say, Max improved as this went on, but for me it happened a little too late to make me give this any higher than 3 stars.

It gets the 3 stars for improving and upping my enjoyment, and also the other MC, Micah was solid throughout this whole story and I genuinely enjoyed him as a character. I liked his siblings as well.

As for Max, well...he took too long to stop being a complete asshole for my liking. And I get it, it's in the title that he's a scrooge, but knowing that didn't make me understand his behavior more or like him more.

He was just an asshole, to everyone, and there was no charm to his ashole-ness either. I didn't get why Micah liked Max for the longest time in this.

When Max finally starts to let down his walls and show who he really is underneath, that was good, but it came around 65, 70ish percent, somewhere around there in the story. That was just too long of dealing with Scrooge Max. I wish he had started to thaw earlier.

It really made the transition from them disliking each other to loving each other not work the best, for me.

Once we were there it was nice and I enjoyed it, but we didn't get there in a way that made much sense, narratively. It was like Max went from 100 to 0 like that and it was just too fast.

I guess the thing that made the most sense was Max leaving at the end of the few days he's in Micah's small town, and not dropping everything for him after only a few days (especially because the being at the "I love you" stage that quickly would have been way too fast)

But then it skips ahead a year and Max makes his decision to live with Micah really quickly and it's all wrapped in a nice HEA bow, with no real angst or having to feel their longing for each other during that year separation.

It was just a little too short, so everything happened a little too fast, while keeping Max in Scrooge mode for way too long.

So 3 stars for me. The steam was hot too, although there wasn't much of it. But that also helped bump up my rating.

Ah, well, better luck next time. I know these ladies can do better. Can't wait for the next book form these ladies!

3 - 3.5 stars!

If Hallmark created a MM Christmas movie, this would be it. I'm dead serious. Micah and Maxwell are from completely different worlds. Maxwell is from the city, dresses to the nines, works a high level job, and wants for nothing. Well except love. Micah is a lumberjack and works his farm in the country and wants for nothing. Well except someone to warm his bed.

When Maxwell shows up on his property still trying to convince him to sell his land, he takes matters into his own hands and messes with his car. Maxwell ends up having to stay and experience a country Christmas until the weather is better and his car is fixed. The spirit of Christmas is all around and Maxwell gets more than he bargained for. Micah, despite not liking Maxwell at first, sees a different side to him and things get heated.

Neither character stood out to me in a big way but I enjoyed their love story and how they got from point A to point B. I wasn't thrilled that the entire story was told in a flashback back to present but their HEA was cute. Overall, a cute MM holiday read.

I absolutely LOVED this novella from Brooke and Ella. It's a no angst, swoony and sweet festive romance between two complete opposites.

The sparks fly from the off when Max visits Micah's Christmas Tree farm hoping to get his signature on a sale document but while the welcome is less than friendly, these two men end up stuck together when a blizzard stops Max returning to New York.

What follows is a funny, heart-warming tale of how Scrooge (Max) finds his Christmas joy again within the wonderful family that helps Micah run the farm and in the cosy and friendly little town that embraces him with open arms.

Seeing Max open up from the business driven, repressed and closed off man he is when he first arrives at the farm, through to him realising that family is more than a nanny and a new money-making scheme is a lovely journey to follow.

The sex is smoking hot, as you'd expect with these two but it's the hot chocolate hug feeling that you get from reading which makes this book a joy.

#ARC kindly received from the authors via Valentine PR. I am voluntarily reviewing this book.

I've been in a Christmas mood for weeks now, way earlier than normal for me. I've watched countless Christmas movies on TV and shockingly, this was my first Christmas book this year. I loved everything about it and honestly, it could be turned into a Christmas movie. Max and Micah are both from different worlds but are sooo good together. Luckily for us, Mother Nature puts the two together and we have an amazing story. This is a great Sunday afternoon read with a fire going and cocoa by your side. So much love, laughter, and some steamy, sexy times from this zero-angst book. Another awesome book from these amazing authors.

This is a really fun, sexy, and fabulously Christmassy read! Max is on the career path to the top and needs to buy this land to get his next promotion. But he finds that Micah has no intention of selling... and is intent on showing him why.

The fact that Max and Micah find each other irresistible is a complication which is exacerbated when they are snowed in together. We get to just sit back and enjoy the thawing of Max, as Micah works his magic. His family also play a fun part in the awakening of Scrooge, and supporting the Christmas business run at the farm.

A lovely way to get you in the mood for the Christmas season!

Once Upon A Sexy Scrooge was absolutely adorable and a really enjoyable Christmas MM Romance. I LOVED this uplifting and incredibly sweet novella that brings on all them Holiday feels. With a stocking full of low angst tropes, like enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity & opposites attract. That brought an extra dash of charm to this already merry, feel-good read. Maxwell is living in a corporate bubble. Jaded by the daily hustle & bustle of Manhattan's rat race.

Maxwell is a Scrooge through & through. As fate would have it Maxwell is about to learn the true meaning of Holiday spirit & what makes a small town community of Merrihill Vermont so special. Nobles Christmas Tree Farm isn't the sort of place money can buy. Sexy lumberjack Micah teaches Max the priceless lesson of just how far generosity, goodwill and patience will get you. I loved Micah so, so much! He firmly put Maxwell in place and brought him down a peg or two. Once Upon A Sexy Scrooge will reiterate that money can't buy everything!!

This was adorable and I had so much fun with Maxwell and Micah.
I suspected from the beginning that's what Micah did to 'teach' Maxwell a lesson :)
I only a bit disappointed about the near ending, not what I expected, really.
But yeah, probably Maxwell needed that somehow.

4 Christmassy Stars!! 🎅🤩❤️ I wasn’t sure about the premise and the MCs seemed too clichéd initially, but slowly they sort of grew on me, especially Micah and his enthusiasm for all things Christmas. He made Max into a believer as well.. so although it was both insta-lust as well as a slow burn.. it ended well. 🥰 Highly recommended to all fans of holiday romances!! 👍🏻👍🏻

I love a small-town christmassy romance. Where everyone knows and cares about each other. Where big families love (and torture, I mean tease!) each other. And that’s exactly the world in which Micah Noble lives. Running the family Christmas Tree Farm

In classic Christmas romance fashion, Maxwell, an acquisitions guy, shows up in a snowstorm with fancy shoes and no snow tires, read to convince Micah to sell his home and family legacy. Rude, obsessed with money and prestige, and with a strong dislike for Christmas, Max finds himself stranded with the sexiest Lumberjack to ever chop a tree.

What ensues is a funny and sweet story of Max getting schooled in the magical ways of Christmas, small towns, and family who love you no matter what.

Maxwell Scott is rich, cynical, uptight, arrogant, pretentious, and determined to get his way. He works in acquisitions and is a man on a mission with little chance of succeeding.

Micah noble is a big, rugged, sexy, sarcastic, stubborn lumberjack. He and his family owns a Christmas tree farm and have no interest in selling especially not to a city boy to build a resort.

I liked that they were polar opposites in many ways, but were also both witty and snarky and played off each other well. A lot of friction. A little finesse. An unexpected attraction. Bring on the heat, and the big king-size bed. A bit of pleasure to avoid business is not such a bad idea on a cold winter's night. A grinch, and a Christmas overachiever may come together in certain circumstances, but their lives and priorities are very different.

This is a sexy, feisty, snarky, adversaries-to-lovers, opposites-attract, forced-proximity, Christmas romance. It illustrates the magic of Christmas, family, acceptance, and small-town charm. I just wished there was an epilogue because I wanted just a bit more of these guys.

First off, even if I loved this, it's losing a star for how Maxwell treated that kid at the Christmas Tree Farm. I can't even believe he behaved that way and wasn't called out for it.

Aside from that little hiccup, it wasn't terrible but it didn't really do much for me.

I never really got a good feel about either of them but especially Maxwell. His behavior about everything and toward everyone was just mean and I have no idea what Micah saw in him aside from and opportunity.

It was Christmas-y though, I loved the setting.

Grab a hot beverage, a cozy blanket and get ready to read this super cute, super sexy, enemies to lovers, opposites attract, forced proximity holiday romance.

I'm slowly getting into the holiday mood and Brooke Blaine and Ella Frank gave me everything I could want in this longer Christmas novella. It was like a million times sexier than a Holiday Hallmark movie with awesome characters and great tropes that one looks for in their holiday reads.
Maxwell is our grumpy city boy sent to the county to close a deal on a tree farm owned by Micah and his family. What happens when city boy Maxwell can't immediately close the deal and gets stuck at Micah's farm until after the holidays??

I couldn't have loved this story more. Grumpy Maxwell played his part well, but the tall, sexy tree farm owner, Micah stole my heart. His family and the way he loved his town and farm was a bright light in the story. It made Maxwell grow as a person for him to see all those things. To see what a healthy life not ran by money looks like. And the push and pull with these two? Damn, was it hot! The obvious attraction these two displayed even when they "hated" one another brought the spark.

I very much enjoyed Micah and Maxwell's story and their journey and wouldn't have minded a full length story for them. They just had that je ne sais quois that brings life to the written page. Give me more holiday books like this!

A Short Novella That Just Dragged On And On!

I read this ebook via Kindle Unlimited after it was recommended.
It's an enemies to lovers, forced proximity, negative gay tropes type of work.
It starts with Maxwell being caught up in a traffic jam and then he starts to reminisce about meeting Micah a year ago. How Maxwell is arrogant, and conceited, which does not change throughout the novel, falls for Micah who is obnoxious, and abrasive. Throw in the proverbial ex-partner of Micah, which is baffling as it doesn't add to the storyline.
After a few days of forced proximity, they split due to Maxwell returning home.
Thus, we are back with Maxwell currently in the traffic jam.
We also learn that over the past year, Micah sends Maxwell a note or photo of the area, because obviously neither of them have a phone to actually talk to each other. Maxwell responds in a vague fashion.
Maxwell decides, whilst sitting in the traffic jam, to follow his heart and return to Micah, to which they both profess their love for each other. HEA!
The storyline is tedious and has been done so many times before, and in much better ways. Unfortunately, I just kept page watching, or going off to do something else. There's no understanding why Micah's ex came back and it wasn't even mentioned when the story was being told from Micah's perspective. I'm also at a loss why it took one of them a year to make a move for the man who he has feelings for.
I will be giving both authors a miss in future.

I’m always eager for a new Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine book, which means I was eager to dive into Once Upon a Sexy Scrooge. I’ll be honest and say that I’m not a big fan of holiday stories, yet I’m a big enough fan of the authors to have been curious about this one.

While I can certainly see this being loved by many, it didn’t quite work for me. It was certainly the classical sweet read from the authors that is sure to put a smile on your face, but it felt a little too quick and easy for me. I wanted more depth to the story, especially with how everything was resolved so quickly. In many ways, I think this was just a case of my reading tastes not matching with the story. It is a quick and easy Christmas read, something light and fluffy for the season, and I’m someone who wants a little more. That is not to say it was a bad read, merely that it was not the right read for me.

All in all, this was sweet, yet it wasn’t quite enough for me.

I have been devouring all the Christmas novellas and I’m so happy I got to read this one. “Once Upon A Sexy Scrooge” is a fun and steamy grumpy/sunshine MM Christmas romance that I could not put down.

Maxwell is a city guy and hates Christmas. When he gets sent up to try and schmooze a Christmas tree farmer to sell his land for a development project, he wasn’t expecting to run into the lumbersnack, Micah. Micah is happy where he’s at and has no interest in selling. But when car problems and snow leave Maxwell stranded, the two find out they have more in common than they thought.

I loved this story so much. You’re always in for a great story when Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine write together. Maxwell and Micah might be complete opposites but they fit so well together. Maxwell is so grumpy and I loved how his grumpy layers slowly got peeled away. Micah is a complete lumbersnack and it was so fun watching him break down Maxwell’s layers. Their banter back and forth was great and the perfect foreplay leading up to their steamy scenes. I loved the timeline of the story and the ending was perfect.

**I received an advanced copy of Once Upon A Sexy Scrooge and this is my honest review**

Let me just start by saying I love a Hallmark moment. I love a Hallmark Christmas movie. My land, my name is Holly, I was born in December, and my family owns a Christmas tree farm. I know and love cheesy Christmas and this was cheesy Christmas.

This story was very cute. Very sweet. And all around a pretty fun read.

It was lighthearted but almost too predictable for my taste. I also didn’t love the way the story was told but that’s probably just me.

Did I enjoy this book? 100%
Will I recommend it? 100%
However, it wasn’t my favorite from this duo but I would still read it again.

Max and Micah bring the heat this holiday season! This was like a Hallmark movie but waaaaaaaay better. Its big city boy meets small town hunk, enemies to lovers all wrapped up in a cozy cabin at Christmas time! It was just the right amount of spice mixed with all the holiday vibes. Highly recommend!

This was my first read from Ella and Brooke but it definitely won't be my last.

It's not quite the Christmas season yet, but I saw this pop up while I was searching for audiobooks on Hoopla and I couldn't resist.🎄 It was short and sweet but perfect for putting me in a very early Christmas mood. As the title suggests, it has the bah humbug vibe thanks to city boy, Max. Mix him with Mr. I Love Christmas lumberjack, Micah, and you have a cute opposites attract Christmas story full of cliches and kisses under the mistletoe. It was a quick read, less than four hours via audiobook. Aiden Snow narrates and his voice always makes for a relaxing listen. 😌
