Timme Named Preseason AP All-American First Team

Zag senior lands on preseason national team for second straight season

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga's Drew Timme was named Preseason First Team All-American by the Associated Press Monday.
 
Timme was joined by Kentucky big man Oscar Tshiebwe, North Carolina forward Armando Bacot, Houston guard Marcus Sasser and Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis. Timme and Tshiebwe were unanimous selections.
 
Last season, Timme was named a John R. Wooden Award Player of the Year Finalist, Wooden All-American, and Second Team All-American by Sporting News, the Associated Press, NABC and USBWA. Timme, a Preseason All-American and the 2022 West Coast Conference Player of the Year was named First Team All-Conference the last two seasons, after being named All-Freshman in 2019-20.
 
Timme topped the West Coast Conference averaging 18.4 points per game and was first scoring 18.5 points per WCC outing. The senior was third in the conference shooting 58.6 percent from the field, sixth grabbing 6.8 rebounds per game, and eighth blocking 0.78 shots per game.
 
Timme won the Karl Malone Award in 2020-21 and was a finalist for last season's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award. He averaged 27.3 points and 11.3 rebounds in last season's NCAA Tournament. The Dallas, Texas, native, ranks 15th in program history with 1,521 points and 15th with 617 rebounds.
