Wigan Warriors are asking for any witnesses who may have seen or heard anything of concern during the Round 17 game against Leigh Centurions at the DW Stadium on Sunday 1st August.
The RFL are aware of the situation as well and the Wigan club are working closely to assist in their enquiries.
The Wigan club also revealed a questionnaire at the bottom of the page in case anyone had seen or heard anything in an attempt to get to the bottom of the issue.
Wigan triumphed over their bitter rivals, 50-6 but such a statement has appeared to dampen such a big win.
The Warriors currently sit in fourth in the Super League table following 12 wins from 18 games, whilst Leigh still remain winless at the bottom.
