Make new friends and practise English at USU Australian Discussion Groups!
Come along to our our weekly ADG sessions, where we welcome you to Sydney, teach you some slang, local sports and introduce you to Aussie food and drinks 👋
Meet other international students, learn about the most iconic spots around USYD Campus and Sydney city, plus enjoy FREE lunch at The Bevery in Courtyard Restaurant & Bar.

| Tuesday 29 August The Bevery | G'day Mate!: Aussie Slang | Have you ever not been sure what it meant "to have a bevvie in the arvo?". Look no further than this ADG session where we talk all things slang, idioms and Aussie expressions. |
| Tuesday 12 September The Bevery | Australian Wildlife | You've seen it on movies and tv shows but we will have a little deep dive into some of Australia's most iconic animals! |
| Tuesday 3 October The Bevery | Aussie Food and Drink | Get to try some Australian cultural foods in a classic afternoon tea! We'll have a chat and look into the history and stories behind some iconic Australian treats! |
| Tuesday 17 October Isabel Fidler, Manning House | Australian Sport | Learn about the amazing sports played in Australia, who are the big names to watch and what do Aussie do for fun! Come along and find out! |

What are USU Australian Discussion Groups?
Led by our friendly group facilitator, Australian Discussion Groups (ADGs) are social sessions where you can meet international students, practise English and learn more about Australian culture.
ADGs run fortnightly throughout the semester, with each session on a different topic including Aussie Slang and Aussie Food & Drinks. Free lunch included!

Who can join Australian Discussion Groups?
These sessions are open to all USU Members. If you aren’t a member yet, make sure you sign up today so you can come along and enjoy all the fun. The best part is, it's free for all USYD students! Sign up for USU membership here.
What are the Covid-19 safety requirements?
Attendees are required to follow all of the University's Covid Safety Precautions and any Covid Safety requirements issued by the NSW Health.
What if I don’t receive my confirmation email?
Please email us if you don't receive confirmation of your registration.
Tickets are sold out. What do I do now?
Please email us if you'd like to join the waitlist, and we'll contact you as soon as a spot opens. But don't worry if you miss out on this Australian Discussion Group, the next one is just around the corner!

🥪 USU Eat Up! Packing Day
1 in 5 Australian children experience food insecurity. "In a country like ours, that's not really fair, is it?" (Eat Up Australia)
The USU is bringing in Eat Up Australia for a free volunteer sandwich making and packing session to provide food that will go to disadvantaged schools around Australia.
