From creators, builders, and thinkers, it was amazing to introduce The Blockchain OS in person to people from a variety of backgrounds at Ethereum Rio 2022. Aiming to be a gateway for international blockchain projects to the Latin American region, as well as the starting point for global projects to understand the unique local landscape, Cartesi is proud to be a founding sponsor of Brazil’s first Ethereum event and empower local communities to take to the global stage. Take a look at our ETH Rio highlights:

Hello, Rio. Welcome to The Blockchain OS.

Kicking off festivities on March 13th, Cartesi was part of bootcamp organized by Ethereum Rio, providing an easy onboarding for mainstream developers to enter blockchain. Head of Business Development, Bruno Maia, gave an introduction to The Blockchain OS in Portuguese, explaining why an operating system on blockchain is critical for bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3 - attracting the next million developers to blockchain.

We also had a brilliant team manning the Cartesi booth, answering your questions on what exactly is a Blockchain OS and why this is crucial to blockchain development. It was fantastic to connect with everyone from independent developers and local projects working in the blockchain space! We’re looking forward to strengthening connections made and seeing what’s next for The Blockchain OS.

Hello, Gaming and Metaverse

Interested in where the future is heading for NFTs, the Metaverse and Gaming? Head of Expansion, Vinicius Ribeiro, offered a perspective on how The Blockchain OS can aid the adoption of blockchain gaming by empowering developers with tools they’re used to in order to create more games utilizing blockchain technology. Great insights were also shared by Kathleen Evers (Sandbox), Joao Borges (BAYZ), Thiago Freitas (Kokku), and Victor Caribé (Play4Change DAO). It was a fantastic conversation — make sure to catch the panel replay, here on YouTube.

Building your first DApp in Python with The Blockchain OS

With Rio as the place where Cartesi’s source code was created, we were excited to conduct our very first workshop, March 15th, to help developers code with mainstream languages on The Blockchain OS. Led by Cartesi Head of Product, Milton Jonathan, and Blockchain Engineer, Gabriel Barros, to see our first Cartesi Rollups workshop in action and the attendees running our Echo example was a wonderful experience!

Hello, community. Let’s have a drink together.

But it’s not all workshops, panels, and bootcamps. It’s time to relax and party! We hosted our first official Cartesi community drinks on March 16th, providing the perfect end to the main festivities of ETH Rio. Choosing an eclectic part of town called Santa Teresa, in between creative studios and artistic hotspots, we partied at Casa Nossa (“our home”), providing drinks, food, and an awesome live DJ in a ‘home to what’s next’ atmosphere.

It was a great opportunity for all members of the Cartesi community to connect with one another, from core contributors, community members, CTSI fans, and ecosystem partners — thank you all for joining us for an incredibly fun night.

And that’s all for Ethereum Rio 2022! For the first Ethereum event in Brazil, we’re happy to say it was a success across all levels and hope to see you there again next year.
