Marijuana Makes States Poor and Sick and Merchants Rich

Marijuana Makes States Poor

MARIJUANA MAKES STATES POOR. More and more evidence is surfacing about the ills caused by legalizing ever more potent marijuana. Pro-pot advocates have argued that states which legalize marijuana will prosper. But a new WND article shows for every $1 in tax revenue, you get $4.50 in costs for pot’s harmful effects. Now nearly all medical associations oppose legalization. The Wall Street Journal recently featured studies presenting the results of marijuana overuse. Not only do you become twice as likely to have clinical depression. But you also become four times as likely to have bipolar and psychotic disorders. And six times as likely to develop schizophrenia. Welcome to the mad, mad, mad, mad world of today’s more potent marijuana.

Marijuana is still illegal at the federal level. So most of the stats in the US come from states which have considered or embraced legalization. The WND article highlights some of those stats. “California saw an 89% increase in emergency department visits because of marijuana use… Colorado had a 148% increase in marijuana-related hospitalizations after the drug was legalized. And Arizona witnessed a startling 267% increase in emergency room admissions due to marijuana use between 2012 and 2020.”

Less rich, more poor

Also, in Pennsylvania, “[an] analysis from 2020 showed that a staggering 24.3% of drivers involved in fatal traffic crashes tested positive for marijuana – an increase from 14.8% just seven years earlier. Moreover, in Michigan, the percentage of people who tested positive for marijuana use in fatal car crashes tripled between 2004 (6.7%) and 2017 (23.4%).”

Maybe marijuana will make some richer, but it makes states poorer and too many people sicker or deader. See Revelation 17-18 (especially  18:3) for what happens when merchants become rich on addictions.
