811 Info-Social, Info Santé & GAP

Info-Santé 811, option #1:

A free and confidential telephone consultation service that puts you in contact with a nurse in case of a non-urgent health issue. The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Anyone living in Québec can call Info-Santé 811 (or 1-866-567-4036) for themselves or a family member.

A call with Info-Santé usually lasts about 12 to 16 minutes on average.  An 811 nurse will evaluate your health situation and give advice based on your condition.  They can answer your questions about your health and refer you to the most appropriate resource in the Outaouais region where you can receive care or required services.

Calling Info-Santé 811 often helps avoid going to a medical clinic or emergency room.

Examples of situations in which you can call Info-Santé 811:

  • You have a seasonal flu that persists several days and you are wondering if you should go see a doctor
  • Your child wakes up with a high fever and you are wondering if you should take them to emergency
  • You are wondering what to do in order to relieve itching and swelling caused by an insect bite
  • You have questions regarding health network resources

Info-Social 811, option #2:

A free and confidential telephone consultation service that promptly puts you in contact with a psychosocial intervention worker in the event of a psychosocial problem. The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Anyone living in Québec can call Info-Social 811 (or 1-866-567-4036) for themselves or a family member.

Info-Social 811 professionals offer advice and may answer psychosocial-related question. When necessary, they may also direct you to a resource, such as a crisis centre, where you can receive care or the required services.

If you are in a crisis situation, a psychosocial intervention worker may send someone to your location in order to assist you immediately.

Examples of situations in which you can call Info-Social 811:

  • You are in a situation that causes you anxiety
  • You are worried about a friend or family member
  • You are experiencing family or relationship problems
  • You are in mourning
  • You have questions about other worrisome situations or behaviour

The Primary Care Access Point (GAP) helps people without a family doctor to obtain a medical consultation or a health service. To benefit from it, you must:

When you contact the Primary Care Access Point, your request is assessed in order to refer you to the professional or medical service that best meets your need, such as seeing a doctor, talking with your pharmacist or joining a support program. This service is available Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM, and weekends and holidays, 8 AM to 4 PM.

Primary Care Access Point (GAP), Online Directory: 

The digital Primary Care Access Point offers personalized recommendations and provides options for users struggling to access health services.

  • Access the GAP online directory 24/7 and avoid phone wait times by filling out a health needs questionnaire at Québec.ca/GuichetAccès.
  • Once patients have filled out the questionnaire, GAP staff will call them back and provide the most suitable service based on their needs, including advice or appointments with health professionals or doctors.
  • The digital GAP is also available for those with a family doctor, guiding patients to the best service based on health issues, including pharmacists, support program information, or home care advice.
