Leicester 1.07

I think this is probably a bit more open than the betting is suggesting but even still WEEBILL should run a big race. He was well held in a good race behind Earlofthecotswolds at Wetherby last month on return and is entitled to leave that behind now with that under his belt. He is still lightly raced and dropped into a seller now I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t get seriously competitive. He can race freely so hopefully a first-time tongue strap can help him settle.

Delire D’Estruval has form figures of PPP-P and is hard to warm to but this is a very weak race so you can’t entirely rule him out if he manages to bounce back. Hard to back a horse with recent form like that though. Largy Mouth has been nibbled at but also needs to show more to get involved. Tough race to work out!

This looks a good Novice Hurdle with NURSE SUSAN and Zabeel Champion looking like interesting prospects. Nurse Susan couldn’t have been anymore impressive on debut winning her maiden at Carlisle by over 7 lengths. She clearly has so much more to come and is the one to beat here. I was so impressed with her engine and she could be one of the nicer ones from the yard – hopefully she lives up to the hype this afternoon.

Zabeel Champion wasn’t as impressive in his win (won by a head) but the form beating Lydford was franked this week and he will be the danger. Of the rest Revasser is interesting on hurdles debut and could chase the main 2 home. This is probably a race to keep a close eye on as it should throw up plenty of future winners.

I thought VALUE TIP was a bit of an eye-catcher when runner-up at Ludlow last month back from a 220-day absence. He just kept on at the one pace in the closing stages but had moved through the race like a horse potentially ahead of his mark. He is entitled to strip fitter from that and coming back down in trip slightly should help. If he can iron out any errors and put in a fluent round he definitely has the ability to win this and I think he’ll go off clear fav come post time.

Go Steady remains a maiden over hurdles but has done well over fences and returns over timber off a lower mark so has to enter calculations. Largy G definitely upped her form to finish third to Dragon Bones on final start last season and if she builds on that on return she should also land some sort of a blow. Apple Rock is a fair yardstick but has enough to prove after that Cheltenham run even if this does represent a drop in grade.

Leicester 2.37

This looks a wide open race with plenty of these looking like they are potentially smart. BALLYBOUGH MARY has won a point to point and a national hunt flat race already and looks set for a promising novice hurdle campaign. Her form looks amongst the best on offer and if ready to roll she will go close. This yard usually have them fit and the market is certainly speaking positively at the time of writing so all set for a big run.

Runwiththetide would be the main danger if bouncing back from her poor run at Stratford last month. Love Envoi and Miss Fairfax are likely to be in the mix based on their national hunt flat form from last season. Even Do You Think could figure if taking to hurdles as that bumper win at Bangor was very convincing. Another race worth keeping an eye on.

Leicester 3.07

Not a race I’m looking forward to if I’m honest but a tentative vote goes to WEST ON SUNSET for Gary and Jamie Moore. This yard usually know the time of day so the fact she has been a big drifter this morning would be a concern but given the race I’m still happy to chance her at an each way price. She ran well at Plumpton on return and if stripping fitter from that now handicapping off a reasonable mark I see no reason why she won’t get involved here at the business end.

Miss Mulligan is favourite at the time of writing and she has shown enough to win a race like this. An opening mark of 99 is probably lenient so she should take the beating but is short enough. Lime Drop won at Worcester and this isn’t overly taxing so good chance she might follow up. Hard to see much else getting involved.

Leicester 3.37

This doesn’t look a deep race at all and a great opportunity for SERGEANT to get his head in front after 2 really close seconds. He is in top form with figures of 2211 and gets to run off the same mark as last week when losing out by under a length at Ludlow, closing right up to the line. If able to reproduce with a weeks rest he should be winning this weak race and the market is certainly reflecting that.

The main danger is Durragh who has some good form in the book and has now had a wind op so would be of interest on handicap debut. That said she still has a bit to find with the selection. Tara Iti is also worthy of consideration as she ran well when second over C&D last time and if building on that would give her a squeak here.
