Game Saving
This game would be brilliant if it wasn't for the abysmal save function (it's not just this game - yes you Borderlands). If I play on a PC then I expect it to be able to save it at anypoint. I haven't got time to re-do a level. Please, please developers get a grip.

Everytime you die it autosaves. Everytime you quit it autosaves. Not sure what your problem has been. Besides, the missions are the leat interesting thing about the game- it took me over a year and 200hrs of play time before I got around to completing the missions.

It doesn't save exactly where you were. You have to start again from the nearest hideout or whatever they are called. I'm not bothered about missions. I just want to save the game at any point and pick up where I left off.

I agree, I love this game, but it's save function is absolutely the most irritating save system I have ever found in an open world game
Honestly, even a game with a linear storyline like metro 2033 has a better save system than this game

I don't know whats going on lately but Dishonured, Far Cry3, Deadlight. Why are you making us reply sections that we've done before....

In the open world sections the saving is really horrendously bad. The system should allow you to save at any point without pointing the save to the closest base.
In the missions the checkpoints are indeed often placed too far apart - although personally it only affected me once to a harsher extent.

This by far not the only game with those problems, but it certainly has them.

You can always pause the game and save manually.
And by spawning your character in the nearest base when you load the save, getting shot because of standing next to government property is prevented and you can restock your ammo before running into trouble.
Yet I partly agree, because you should also spawn in freed villages and other safe places.

The checkpoints are indeed unneeded, especially if you keep failing or dying right in front of the next one.

It's sooooo hard to open up fast travel and go back to the place you were last at after you load a saved game, isn't it...

Why do people on game forums always have the tendency to defend the most stupid problems with the games they like?
I'm not saying the game is bad - actually quite the contrary -, but the save system is abysmal.

Regarding your argument: Depending on the place you were in, it can take extremely long to get back. I /think/ the Snow Peak for example is such a place.
There are also things you can't recover easily, like the vehicle you were in or if you carried a railgun, leave alone the state of the world around you.

Call me Captain Necro, but I agree re: this game's wretched save function. Maybe I'm missing something, but finding check points is a nightmare in an otherwise fun game.

the saving function is good, its the spawning when you come back or respawn thats the problem... i wonder if jc3 fixed this

I see your point. I just re-discovered the SAVE function using ESC, and it lets me save fine. However, it respawns me to my last checkpoint.
