Slovakia: 739 Ukrainian Refugees Applied for Temporary Refugee Status Within a Week

A total of 739 Ukrainians filed an application for temporary refugee status in Slovakia, in the past week, according to the recent report provided by Slovakia’s Ministry of the Interior.

The same shows that for a period between November 7 and November 13, as of 17,758 Ukrainians reached Slovakia through the country’s borders, .

At the same time, the Ministry of Interior of Slovakia announced that 18,686 people crossed Slovakia’s borders on their way out of Slovakia to Ukraine, in the past week.

“In comparison to the previous week: from 31 October to 6 November 2022, 19,079 people entered the Slovak Republic from Ukraine. 736 applicants applied for temporary shelter. On the other hand, 18,696 people passed through border crossings on their way out of Slovakia to Ukraine,” the statement provided by the same Ministry notes.

The statement notes that from February 24, 957,060 Ukrainians entered Slovakia, while a total of 731,089 people departed from Slovakia to Ukraine.

It has also been reported that the total number of temporary shelters grated as of March 1 is 100,585.

“The Ministry of the Interior monitors and evaluates events regarding the war in Ukraine and its impact on Slovakia on a daily basis. In terms of the arrival and departure of UA graduates, the situation has been stable for a long time without significant changes,” the statement reads.

Previously, authorities in Slovakia announced that for a period between October 24 and October 30, 844 refugees from Ukraine applied for temporary refugee status in Slovakia.

According to the data provided back then by the Ministry of the Interior, as of 17,420 Ukrainians entered Slovakia during the same period.

In addition, it was reported that 19,499 Ukrainians crossed the country’s borders in order to reach Ukraine from Slovakia.

The data provided by the Ministry revealed that in comparison to the period from October 17 until October 23, nearly 16,960 Ukrainians entered Slovakia, while the number of refugees who applied for temporary refugee status was 797.

Authorities in Slovakia have continuously offered their support to refugees from Ukraine, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

Previously, authorities in Slovakia announced that €13.2 million in allowances were paid until July for the accommodation of migrants from Ukraine since February this year.

Besides, it was reported that the Slovak government decided to continue providing the allowance until September this year.
