There was a lot of questioning what DK Metcalf was thinking when instead of running out of bounds to give his offense a chance at another play, Metcalf sprinted upfield only to have the ball punched out.
Thankfully, Freddie Swain recovered the ball, and the Seahawks were able to spike the ball with one second left. Even if they wouldn’t have been able to spike it, the refs wanted to review the catch for some reason which gave the Seahawks additional time to get set up for a game-tying field goal.
Metcalf didn’t have much to say about the play, but he responded to FS1 and HOF Tight End Shannon Sharpe, who questioned what he was thinking.
He called Sharpe a “Lil Boy” and told him to stop questioning him.
It was a weird choice of disses considering Sharpe is considerably older than Metcalf and around the same size.
Sharpe has gotten into with players before, most notably Kevin Durant.
Sharpe went to Twitter to reply to Metcalf and doubled down on his thoughts that it was a dumb play.
Nothing to question. That was “DUMB ASS” play, and your pride won’t let you admit it. “You” can’t question anything I’ve done. Pray your resume will be as complete as mine, PRAY. Enjoy the rest of your day 🙏🏾🙏🏾
As stated before, Shannon Sharpe is a Hall of Fame Tight End and Super Bowl champion. Sharpe is considered by many a Top 5 tight end of all time. He helped usher in the pass-catching tight ends that you see today. He was Travis Kelce and Darren Waller before it was in style.
In the end, the Seahawks lost the game because TJ Watt is a monster on defense and forced a Geno Smith fumble late in overtime.
