River’s Trip to Bulby’s Wood, Ingram

Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of our unit of learning about rivers, we would like to take the Year 6 children to the River Breamish at Bulby’s Wood, Ingram which is a part of The Sill:National Learning Discovery Centre.

The trip is due to take place on Friday 16th June. During the visit, the children will have the opportunity to complete  a number of activities:

On the day of the trip, children will need to arrive at school no later than 8.30 as the bus will be departing at 8.45. We will be leaving Bulby’s Wood at approx 2.30pm and expect to return to school by 4.00pm.

As the children will be outdoors for the whole trip, they will need to wear suitable clothing. They will need sturdy footwear, which gives good support around their ankles and has a good gripping sole, such as walking boots/shoes or wellington boots as the ground will be uneven. We would also advise that they bring a spare change of clothing and a towel as we will be river dipping and measuring the depth and speed of the river! The children will also need to bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. Please note, grab bags will be available for those in receipt of free school meals  We will send further information about items to pack and wear closer to the time of the trip.

When: Friday 16th June 2023

Cost: Subsidised price of £10.00 - Payments can be made in the gateway app To keep costs to a minimum, our school contributes towards the overall cost of trips and events; however, we can offer further support to those families who experience financial hardship. Please contact the school if you feel you qualify for this.

Time to arrive at school: 8:30am

Return to school : 4:00pm

We are really excited about taking the children to Bulby’s Wood; hopefully the sun will shine for us and we can make some fantastic Wellfield memories!

Thank you for your support,

Mr Crane, Miss Stephenson and Mr Dickinson
