Position Information
The Access Services Evening Assistant is responsible for providing assistance and administering public service functions and transactions to patrons at the Circulation/Reserves Desk primarily in the evening hours. Maintains the library's patron database, processing various file loads and reviewing patron records for accuracy. Responsible for opening the Library Facility on Sundays but may occasionally be asked to shift schedule to close Sundays in the absence of the Night & Billing Coordinator. Assumes responsibility for the functional operation of the Circulation/Reserves Services Unit and the library during breaks or other absences of the Night & Billing Coordinator. Coordinates emergency situations and assists staff in other units in solving patron difficulties in the absence of the Night & Billing Coordinator. May be used as backup in emergency staffing situations in Circulation/Reserve Services. Must be able to work daytime shifts during the summer and intersession periods. Scheduled work hours are subject to change and may vary based on business needs, finals week, summer and intersession periods.
Must be available to work Sunday 12:45 P.M. - 9:15 P.M., Monday-Thursday 1:15 P.M. - 10:15 P.M.
Once the Library resumes regular business hours, must be available to work Sunday 12:45-9:45 P.M., Monday-Thursday 3:15 P.M. - 12:15 A.M. during the academic year.
This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter and will be required to complete trainings and comply with CANRA. Must pass FBI/Department of Justice background check.
As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy.
