"Every second that I spend with her, I'm one step closer to the end."
Tropes: fake dating, billionaire romance, older heroine younger hero, and something else that I can't tell you just yet because I don't wanna ruin it for anyone 🤫.
Let me preface this review by pointing out that this is my first time reading a book by this author, and also this story takes part in the universe, but I haven't read any of those books and still understood everything, so you too can start Eva and Finn's story RIGHT NOW.
Now about the book... what a pleasant surprise it was. Eva Morelli is the peacemaker of her chaotic family, the problem solver and the one everyone turns to for help. Finn Hughes is your charismatic playboy, but he has been burdened all his life by the Hughes curse, while also taking care of his family from the shadows. At first glance, they have the perfect life; they are rich and have more money than they could probably spend in a lifetime, no real problems to deal with, and only parties and fundraisers to attend, but the truth is that the two of them are lonely and troubled, and until before their chance meeting, no one understood the weight on their shoulders, that's why a union between them is so advantageous for both... until feelings got in the way.
Rich people with dark and buried secrets I love you!! I LOVED both characters; I totally identified with Eva and the way she tried to keep her family calm while inside she could be collapsing and no one would know (yes, I have issues). And Finn... Oh my... yes, the playboy façade is a classic, but the secrets this man is trying to protect? the lengths to which he has gone to protect his loved ones? a REAL man.
The chemistry was something else here because from that unplanned meeting you could feel the tension between both of them, and once they started spending time together and understanding each other, finding more than comfort and a shoulder to lean on, not only the chemistry was great, but also the banter and bickering. But yes, this is a fake dating book, and as always the feelings of only one got in the way... or at least that's what they want us to believe. Their families and the image they're trying to maintain plays a big role here and in Eva and Finn's relationship, so when things start to change for them you too can expect a lot of heartbreak... of the kind that it could make you cry (yes, it made me cry), but take these characters, shake them up and make them understand that they belong together.
This ends on a cliffhanger, so now I'm just gonna stay here... patiently waiting for more news on what's to come because WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ENDING!? My mind just exploded and now nothing makes sense and I need the author to fix this. This is my new obsession and I need answers and a happy ending.

Skye Warren did it again! One for the Money is heartbreakingly beautiful and wickedly seductive. The emotions are raw and gritty. The chemistry is irresistible and scorching hot. Set in the glamorous and dangerous Midnight Dynasty world, Eva and Finn's story will take your breath away.
This is book one of a trilogy and ends in a cliffhanger. Eva Morelli, the eldest Morelli sibling has always kept her family together with her wit and strength. She is the crisis manager. But she has not found a man for herself after getting heartbroken severely at an young age. Her mother is eager to set her up with a wealthy powerful man fit for their family. Billionaire playboy Finn Hughes steps in to act as her fake boyfriend as he is intrigued by her and he doesn't want a married life. As Eva starts spending time with him,she comes to know the dark sad secrets. But Finn would not let their relationship go any further because he feels he is protecting Eva. But why?
I have met Eva briefly in previous books by various authors in Midnight Dynasty world and I wanted her story badly. She is the peace maker, the crisis manager, the advice giver and so many more for her explosive family. They are rich and powerful and have so many secrets those she guards. She plays the role of elite socialite so well. And Finn brought out the vixen hidden inside. He took away her weights briefly and we could see the reckless siren living inside her. Like Eva unearthed the true Finn beneath the charming playboy mask.
My heart is breaking for this man. His family has a "curse" running through generations and he had to take the responsibilities of their family business from very early life while showing everyone that it's all good in Hughes family. He never breaks down. He never takes a break. He never thinks about the sacrifice he is doing. He smiles and charms everyone. He put up a show and bears all the burden himself knowing his own future is uncertain as the "curse" can attack him any day now. And that's the reason he cannot let Eva get attached to her deeply. They are more alike than they can admit. But Eva is stubborn and she has a caring heart that wants to take care of Finn. They have a deep connection that is so different from what they have with their families. It's something they need for themselves. Sharing their grief and heartbreak intimately forged a strong bond but unfortunately, this is not the time for their happily ever after yet. That explosive ending left me speechless and I cannot wait for the next part.

Another Midnight Dynasty story, this time is with the Morelli family, though, as usual, the Constantine family is present.
Eva Morelli had her heart torn by Lane Constantine at nineteen.
Since that, she never wanted another man.
Finn Hughes has a health problem, all the men in his family have.
So he won't marry and don't want kids, he doesn't want anyone with his curse.
Finn has a thing for Eva, and if he could, it would be her he wanted to marry.
Until he sees her at a party and her mother trying to fix her up.
He comes to her rescue.
Finn takes Eva from the party, and they go to an underground casino.
He wants to show her a good time.
The more time they are together, the more Finn wants to be with her.
Until he proposes a fake relationship, so Eva don't have to take more situations like the one in the party, from her mother.
Eva is falling for the playboy, but there's more to Finn than meets the eye, as Eva starts to realize.
The problem is that Eva is 33 years old and Finn is younger, he is 29 years old.
They start spending a lot of time together, and suddenly, the fake relationship is not so fake after all.
Finn trusts Eva and tell her his family secret.
Although, he doesn't want to marry or have kids, he can't seam to let Eva go.
He's very protective of her.
I think he's very sweet.
Eva knows they aren't serious, only having a good time, while they can.
But the things are beginning to be even more complicate.
This ends with a cliffhanger.

If you've read books in the Midnight Dynasty world, then you're already familiar with Eva Morelli. And if you haven't been introduced to this world yet, you must, it's absolutely addictive. I suggest start with her best friend and brother Leo in Beast of Bishop's Landing for the best insight to Eva. Because let me tell you, ever since that book, I've been dying to get my hands on her story. This is a woman with some dark secrets and I couldn't wait to peel back the layers.
Eva is the oldest Morelli sister, the backbone of the Morelli household, the stable one. She's also not looking to be married off, but as the oldest sister at 33, she's basically almost past her prime by the society standards. She doesn't see herself as the beautiful or interesting sister, so when the enigmatic Finn Hughes suddenly sets his eyes on her, she can't imagine why.
The Hughes are an infamous family by their own right in the society. The family is connected to the Constantines via Finn's mother, whose sister Caroline married Lane. They’re also friends with the Morellis. So when Finn pays attention to Eva, her mother couldn't be more thrilled.
But Finn, while wildly attracted to Eva, also has his own reason for pursuing her.
He's not looking for marriage either, and his scars run almost as deep as his dark secrets. The arrangement is simple; they'll pretend to date to get their families off their backs. But you know what they say about intentions.
This is a super emotional romance full of family secrets and drama, and I couldn't get enough of it. Finn is a broken man, but given what he hides, I understand it. He pursues Eva with a single minded intent but Eva is no easy conquest. I loved their dynamic and the way they heal each other but still hold themselves back.
I do want to make it clear that this is not a standalone. I'm not sure if it'll be a duet or a trilogy either? I wish it was made clearer on Goodreads, but it is what it is. What I do know is duet or trilogy, I can't wait to get my hands on the next installment.

I do want to make it clear that this is not a standalone. I'm not sure if it'll be a duet or a trilogy either? I wish it was made clearer on Goodreads, but it is what it is. What I do know is duet or trilogy, I can't wait to get my hands on the next installment.

Eva is the sister of Leo Morelli from Secret Beast. She's the peacemaker of the family and being the eldest Morelli daughter, every one of her siblings and her mother turn to her for every little problems. All caught up in keeping her family afloat, she doesn't have much time for herself. But when Finn Huges a rich, charming and handsome stranger suggests her a perfect solution to tame her mother's matchmaking ways by fake dating him, she takes up on the offer. I have to admit that I'm hooked and captivated by this world. It was fun seeing all the Morelli & (some) Constantine characters from different books gather together. When I decided to give this book a try, I didn't realise that it wasn't a standalone. The cliffhanger has left me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to get my hands on the next bookin the series! I absolutely loved Eva and could relate with her. She was just so caring, compassionate, strong and sweet. Finn on the other hand was an enigma. He had two different sides to his personality and I'm glad that Eva could discover both. I still am not completely sold on him though, he needs to up his game because Eva deserves all the love she could get and a person who could whisk her away from constantly worrying over her family so that she can focus on her own happiness. I can’t wait to see where things go with Eva & Finn in the next book!

I'm such a huge fan of the Midnight Dynasty series, especially the Morellis, so I was so excited to get my hands on Eva Morelli's story, the eldest Morelli sister. She's a fierce protector by nature who is also the glue that holds her family together. I loved that she was a few years older than Finn and their story hooked me from the beginning.
While I did enjoy this book, I really think the reasons that kept me from fully loving it are an, "It's me, not you" kind of thing. I just think I've read one too many stories with the billionaire business mogul premise as of late and they are beginning to lose their luster for me right now.
I also found some of Finn's conflict's in the story to be a bit OTT. Maybe it's because I work in the business world myself but
I did enjoy the connection between Finn and Eva and some of their tender moments. They enter into a fake relationship to help each other out of a problem, but before long, it starts to feel real.
It'll be interesting to see where their story goes from here!

Read Hallelujah , the Morelli's oldest daughter.
Leo's older sister, Eva Morelli, 33, is the uncrowned matriarch of the Morelli family. She is used to keeping the family together and keeping the peace among them, especially in regards to her volatile father and keeping-up-appearances mother.
While she protects them all, Eva is alone.
And than Finn Hughes, 29, steps in, he wants to be Eva's protector. He sees through Eva's facade and they decide to fake their love-relationship. But is it really fake?
Eva too sees the real Finn, the Finn that is very much frightened and dreading the future. But Finn has decided that he will life to the fullest, because he is running out of time.
Not wanting to chain Eva to the horrors that are awaiting him, he ends their "fake"relationship.
This was such an compelling read, it is a story of two people with secrets and both in need of a second chance at life, and I am very much looking forward to book 2, Two for the Show.
I think Geneva will have very interesting things to reveal......

Really enjoyed this rather heartbreaking story about Eva and Finn who come together with a proposal of a fake relationship to keep their parents off their backs. They both carry quite the load for their parents and siblings and soon find their attraction for each other getting in the way of the fakeness. Finn's family's secrets (especially) are sabotaging their chance at a forever after, but fate ends up getting in the way, regardless. The cliffy is a killer, but luckily book 2 is already out (but not book 3). Trilogies aren't a fave, but this is a great story I'm definitely going to see through to the end!

One of the best books in the Midnight Dynasty universe I've read; not all of them are good, not all of them are bad, but this was a good one for me, for sure!
Eva is the kind of sister that, if we don't have one like her, we wish we did. Finn's secret is powerful and anguishing. What I missed here were more spicy scenes (compared to other books), more explosive chemistry, and some character development (I like Eva enough bc I read about her in other books). Also, some of the time passages were abrupt.

OK this was soooo different and wonderful! I just love how all the characters in the Midnight Dynasty world are developed. Just pure excellence. In this book, we have Eva and Finn. I loved how angsty this book was. Fast paced and an absolute delight!!!

I feel like I say this with every Midnight Dynasty book that is released but I was so excited to get Eva Morelli's story! I am completely obsessed with everything in this world and live for learning all the family secrets and the feuds!
We have learned bits and pieces about Eva throughout all of the previous books. She does everything for everyone else but never takes any time for herself. In One for the Money we learn exactly what changed her world view on love and if she is going to chance it again.
Finn Hughes leads a sort of double life. He plays one side for the public but once the doors close at home it is a who different world. When Eva and Finn began a fake relationship the doors start opening for all the secrets to come out but of course nothing good can stay that way. I can't wait for the next book to see what happens (ends on a cliffhanger).

What could possibly go wrong? I loved the charismatic Finn and the way he was with Eva. A sweeter romance for this collection that takes an emotional turn with a secret. Wow! These 2 totally have "oldest child" syndrome (even though I know that Eva isn't the oldest). It was great to see Leo and Haley again. I really liked Finn from the beginning! And he had me swooning the whole damn book.... until the end. But I have faith in my man Finn to make it up to her! Eva is absolutely someone I can relate too (without the billions $$$). She is always the peace keeper, secret keeper and soothing presence to everyone in her family..... I love that Finn points out to her that she takes care of everyone, but who takes care of her? And that cliffhanger!!! I am so ready for the next book right now!!! I am going to have a huge book hangover from this one!

OH MY HEART! Seemingly out of nowhere, Eva and Finn come along and COMPLETELY capture my heart. In a dangerous world full of dark secrets, ruthless vendettas, and savage twists, Skye Warren somehow delivers the swooniest, most endearing, and most emotionally resonant Midnight Dynasty story to date. One for the Money had all the hallmarks of the sprawling Morelli-Constantine universe- the family tensions, elite legacy, broken characters, and powerful secrets- but it also has a shockingly vibrant beating heart, a gentle romanticism that swept me away.

Eva Morelli finally gets to shine in the latest Midnight Dynasty book, One for the Money. I had been highly anticipating her story ever since Skye Warren first teased about it in Meet Me Under the Mistletoe. We were first given a glimpse of Eva and Finn's potential relationship then and it was clear to me that their story was going to focus on the secrets that both kept under the surface. While this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading other books in the Midnight Dynasty world, specifically Beast of Bishop's Landing, as it will make for a much better experience and you will know what Eva has been through. I really enjoyed Eva and Finn's story and thought their relationship was heartbreaking, sexy, and emotional. It had everything that I loved most about this author's writing—angst, fake dating/marriage, and a dirty talking hero. Eva's book is a lot less "darker" than her siblings, which I thought was quite refreshing considering the fact that her brothers went to extreme lengths to possess their heroines.
Eva has always been the dependable and loyal older sibling in the Morelli family. Not only does she look after her family but they also look to her for guidance and advice. What we’ve come to realize, however, was that she didn’t have anyone who looked after her. I absolutely adore Eva because of her kind and loving nature. She was stubborn, persistent, and would do anything for those she loved—including sacrificing herself. On the other side, Finn Hughes may appear as Eva's opposite but there is more to this man than meets the eye. Although he comes off as this roguish, charming, and playboy billionaire, there is a duality to his character because of the secret he is keeping. Finn and Eva share similar personality traits because both are willing to sacrifice themselves for their families. While I do have mixed thoughts about Finn, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because Eva deserves more from him.
In the end, Eva and Finn's whirlwind romance will have you aching for more because this was a spectacular beginning to their heartbreaking relationship. The ending to this book frustrated me because Eva deserves the world and more than what Finn is giving her. I better see some high quality groveling from this man in Two for the Show or else Leo is going to kick him to curb. I understand where Finn is coming from, especially if he has been taught to think of that while growing up, but there is more to life than only living in the moment or 'for now.' Fans of Skye Warren and the Midnight Dynasty world will not be disappointed by this book and I highly recommend it to those who love angst and the fake dating/marriage romance with a seemingly charming and arrogant hero .

Skye Warren is hurting me really bad. I have to say the book was not dark like I thought it would be. It was definitely filled with lots of angst and a fake relationship. Why do their story have to hurt so much? Skye took a turn that I was not expecting, and I really hope at the end of the tunnel there would be a light.
Finn and Eva are totally similar to one another. They get off adrenaline to the same things, and they both put their families first. They weren't able to tell others about their secrets and burdens, but slowly, they were able to find comfort in each other. It was a heartwrenching beautiful story.
Once again, Skye Warren nailed it. I NEED the second book ASAP.

Like all of skye warrens books this one sucks you in and takes you on a ride, the kind that makes you feel everything and not want to put it down. This was great start to this new trilogy, and the cliff hanging leaves you wanting more. Like I need answers!! 😭😭
This is a fake dating trope and I really loved Finn and Eva. Eva intrigued me from the moment we met her in the pervious midnight dynasty books, and I was interested to get to know her more. She’s so differnt then I imagined, but in a way that will have you loving her.
I’m defiant excited for what’s to come because the next book will have one of my all time favorite tropes! It’s going to crest an even more interesting dynamic.

Just didn’t like it. The emphasis on her age was jag-erring; 4 year different and they made it a bigger deal than necessary *eye-roll*
