West Java is gearing up for a significant transformation in its transportation infrastructure. On October 29, 2023, Kertajati West Java International Airport (BJB) in Majalengka Regency is set to receive domestic and international flights transferred from Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung City. PT BIJB Corporate Secretary Dian Nurachman has confirmed that meticulous preparations have been made, encompassing human resources, technical and operational aspects, and multimodal transportation to support passenger flow. The airport's management has paid attention to even the smallest details, ensuring a smooth transition.
Furthermore, airlines such as Super Air Jet, Indonesia AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Citilink, and Malaysia AirAsia have made preparations to commence commercial flights from Kertajati Airport. Commercial tenants have also reopened, with coffee shops and stores catering to passenger needs breathing new life into the airport. This move aligns with the decision made by the Transportation Ministry in August 2023 to transfer flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport to Kertajati.
In addition to the airport development, the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway (KCJB) is set to enhance connectivity in the region. PT KAI (Persero) Operational Area (Daop) 2 Bandung has introduced a feeder train service that connects Padalarang Station to Bandung Station in just 19 minutes. The feeder train, equipped with diesel-electric locomotives, offers convenience to passengers with amenities like luggage racks and toilets.
To further improve accessibility, KCIC has coordinated with Damri to provide shuttle buses for passengers traveling from Cimekar Station and Gedebage Station to Tegalluar Station. This initiative aims to ensure that high-speed railway passengers can seamlessly reach their destinations. With these developments, West Java is poised for a more efficient and integrated transportation system, benefiting both residents and visitors.
