Welcome
The Innovations in NAFLD Care (INCBCN) Workshop 2023 took place as a hybrid workshop in Barcelona, Spain, from 26-27 May 2023. Delegates were able to attend either in person in Barcelona or virtually from their computer.
This workshop was the third meeting in the Innovations in NAFLD Care Series. The second was the Innovations in NAFLD Care Webinar 2022, held on 6 May 2022 - 7 May 2022.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is estimated to affect 33% of the world’s population. Given the association between NAFLD and the growing global epidemics of obesity and type 2 diabetes, this number is expected to increase.
Despite this high prevalence, there remain challenges in screening, as only a minority of cases are diagnosed and correctly treated. Therefore, there is a growing need to design and implement comprehensive models of care.
The cascade of care for the diagnosis and treatment of NAFLD requires a multidisciplinary approach, with the development of patient-centric structures and systems that facilitate the coordination and integration of services delivered at different levels of healthcare systems.
This workshop provides a platform to bring together the relevant stakeholders and patients to optimize NAFLD care.
The 2-day program explores the different perspectives that healthcare professionals and patients with NAFLD face daily. It will highlight where healthcare providers and policy-makers can implement the most comprehensive models of NAFLD care.
NASH-NIT Real-World-Evidence Summit
The NASH-NITs Real-World-Evidence Summit featured state-of-the-art lectures on the use of real-world evidence for the proper diagnosis of NASH using NITs. The summit was hosted in Barcelona on 26 May as a pre-workshop to the 2nd edition of the “Innovations in NAFLD Care workshop”. The summit was a half-day hybrid summit, where ample time was reserved for debates and panel discussions to exchange knowledge and reinforce the implementation of real-world evidence for the screening, identification, and diagnosis of NAFLD/NASH.

Early-Career Investigators / Academia from Resource-limited Settings (RLS)
We are pleased to offer free registration to early-career investigators and academia from low-income and lower-middle-income countries with an accepted abstract and a 50% discount on the registration fee without an accepted abstract.

To be eligible as an early-career investigator, one should either be a current Master/PhD student or have obtained an MD/PharmD/PhD degree in the last five years. An application form needs to be completed by a supervisor and received by the Academic Medical Education secretariat at least two weeks prior to the start of the workshop. The NASH-NITs Real-World-Evidence Summit was a half-day hybrid summit, where ample time was reserved for debates and panel discussions to exchange knowledge and reinforce the implementation of real-world evidence for the screening, identification, and diagnosis of NAFLD/NASH.
The summit was hosted in Barcelona on 26 May as a pre-workshop to the 2nd edition of the Innovations in NAFLD Care Workshop.
The overarching goal of the NASH-NITs Real-World-Evidence Summit was to promote a heterogeneous use of NITs using real-world data to accelerate the identification of undiagnosed patients and the risk factors for developing NAFLD and NASH.
The summit enabled both on-site participation and virtual access to the audience to broadly disseminate teaching material and extend the outreach far beyond the conference walls. Enduring materials were posted on the AME online platform, and publicly accessible on-demand to further support knowledge retention and increase the educational impact.

- NAFLD Workshop 2023 accepts new original data as well as encored abstracts. All abstracts must focus on healthcare challenges related to NAFLD Care and contain up-to-date information at the time of the meeting.
- Registration fees are waived for healthcare professionals from RLS and early-career professionals with an accepted abstract. A 50% discount is offered to healthcare professionals from RLS and early-career professionals without an accepted abstract. The requirements for the application are specified under "Registration".
For purposes of review and programming, abstracts are divided into topical categories. The selection of the most appropriate category is important as it determines who reviews your abstract. The Review Committee reserves the right to reassign your abstract to a more appropriate category. Abstracts will be accepted either for oral or poster presentations.

Poster presenters are requested to stand near their posters during the poster session.
We advise you to prepare hand-outs of your poster on Letter or A4 format.
Please hang your posters as early as possible. All posters must be displayed from the opening session to the closure of the meeting.

Abstract Publication
Accepted abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book. This will be distributed during the meeting and will be available as enduring material after the meeting has concluded. Please note that the conference secretariat cannot be held responsible for any typing or language errors in the submitted abstracts as only the format of the abstracts will be changed and not the content.
