The March Madness is continuing weekly at Empire State sports betting sites.

Numbers released Thursday by the New York State Gaming Commission show the state’s nine online sportsbooks handled almost $460 million in bets during the week ended March 19, up from $442.7 million the week before

Online betting has been on the rise lately in New York, which is almost certainly due to all the college basketball being played this month. Indeed, last week's handle was the highest weekly amount of mobile wagering in New York since the week ended Feb. 13, 2022, which was Super Bowl Sunday of last year.

Receipts pour in

Gross gaming revenue generated by the mobile component of New York sports betting was $39.2 million last week, a win rate of 8.5% for the books. Both figures were down from the week before, though, as revenue for the week ended March 12 had been $40.4 million and the hold 9.1%.

FanDuel continues to be the leader in the New York market, as the New York-based bookmaker handled $188.3 million in mobile bets and turned it into $19.5 million in revenue during the week ended March 19.

Running second as usual was DraftKings, with $154.1 million in handle and $12.5 million in revenue last week. Third was Caesars Sportsbook again, with $63.1 million in handle and $2.8 million in revenue.
