Nasty Bastards MC #6

Repair My Life

Rate this book
A single mother of four. A man who never imagined he’d ever have a family. She’s running again. He’s there to catch her. Together they will either float or drown.

The future is set in stone for Rebecca Albright. Married young, she’s had four children back-to-back, but she’s living in misery with a van on its last leg as her only mode of transportation.

She knows that if her van breaks down one more time, it’s headed to the junkyard. All she and her children need is one more road trip. One more chance to escape.

The vice president of the Nasty Bastards MC has a lot of responsibility. The club is on the verge of war, and now a woman with four small children is broken down on the side of the highway. It’s the last thing he needs, but it's an opportunity he cannot ignore.

Ironfist knows that she is in no position to accept his claim. He doesn’t care. He’s wanted her since she first walked into the garage with her broken-down ride and her soft smile.

Rebecca is done with men. Except for the little fact that she needs the help of men to save her from her abusive husband. Ironfist is the exact opposite of her husband in every way. She wonders if she could trust him with her heart, her children, and her life. But she knows deep down that he’s everything she’s ever needed and more. So much more.

*3.5 Star Rating*

I thought for this review, it would be better to describe my emotional state when reading this book in order. I don't normally write a review like this, but I think it might be the only way to accurately describe my reading experience.

The Beginning:

Ecstatic: Rebecca, the single mother with the broken van, is the next heroine. It won't be easy, but she'll finally get a pseudo happy ending. If you've ever read a Hayley Faiman MC romance, you know exactly what I mean. They never go exactly as planned. That's the whole appeal.

Excited: Ironfist is infatuated with Rebecca and her kids. She won him over the first time she entered the garage with her van, and he's been fixing it ever since. After his monumental advice to Rip in Shake Up My Life (Book 5), you can definitely see his daddy potential.

Irritated: I want this story so badly that waiting seems like forever.

Squeel: My copy has finally hit my Kindle.

Deja vu: Sweet. That's the word that I would use to describe Ironfist and Rebecca's relationship. It's sweet. Now, this wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. However, it's the exact same word that I used to describe Tanner and Rip's relationship in Book 5. There were even a couple of times where I questioned if the couples were interchangeable.

Frustrated: There's two parallel story lines that are interwoven within this book. The first is obviously the relationship between Rebecca and Ironfist. The second is the progression of the LA Mafia plot. Both of them go awry in my opinion. It just all seems silly.

Disappointed: Rebecca deserved better. In my opinion, she leaves one bad situation for another. Now, granted, they are completely different. However, Rebecca is still left in the dark about the deceit and lies that are going on around her.

Questioning: Will this series get back on track?

Hope: Maybe, the next one will be better. There's always a few in a series that are better than others.

It was an OK read
Not anything special
Repetitive story
Uninteresting characters
I would have given it 3 stars if not for the cheating part
No matter what anyone says, he was with her and cheated on her and didnt tell her
How is he different than her ex? Abuse is not just physical!

Ugh, why! I so liked Ironfist in previous books, & I really admired how he swooped in to help Rebecca who was a mom of 4 trying to escape her abusive husband. When Ironfist saved them he immediately stepped in & claimed her & her kids. He even promises her he’s got her & the kids. They spent one night together before he had to go out of town for club business & never talks to her once while he’s away. But the whole time he’s like she’s my woman, the kids are mine, but then when they arrive at a club & he sees a pretty waitress his attitude changes. Prez even tells him not to do anything, but his response is… “I ain’t dead, & I’m not devoted to s***”. Then he has sex w/the waitress. And I lost respect for him at that point. He knew everything Rebecca had been through & he made promises to her & in one moment it didn’t matter. But the real deal breaker for me having a little hope w/him was when he returned home & never told Rebecca. Having kids in the picture made it so much worse in my opinion. I know him & Rebecca weren’t together long, but he should’ve been honest with her.

It’s a 3.5/4 ⭐️ For the most part I really liked this book. I loved the story line. I loved the characters banter with each other. But I think there are some plot holes that needed to be filled. The main alpha hole “cheats” on her and she doesn’t find out at all… I think she deserved a bit better seeing as what abuse she had gone through In her marriage and her 4 kids being involved. Although the ride is bumpy and parts are missing that I feel could help the story line… there is a happy ending.

Note to self: contains off page cheating. Hero has sex with OW while on the road and already claimed the heroine. It’s so unnecessary to add this to the story, because he never comes clean, she doesn’t find out and it isn’t a complication to the story further more. He felt guilty, but this whole cheating part didn’t convince he wouldn’t do it again when he’s weeks apart from the h.

Be forewarned that there is cheating in this book it's not explicit but heavily reference. Rebecca has been featured in a few of the other NBMC books so if you have read the series she's vaguely familiar; that being said it has also been noted that she drives an old van that is constantly being repaired because it's always breaking down and that she has a deadbeat husband. Ironfist works at the mechanic shop and has noticed her, but knowing she's married and likely to stay married has him trying to ignore his attraction instead he fixes her van for her. One day in a failed attempt to leave her abusive husband; Rebecca is stranded with her 4 children on the road. Fate intervenes and Ironfist happens to notice her on the side of the road, knowing right away something is wrong even with Rebecca being evasive. Loading them up and taking them to safety, Ironfist becomes invested in their well being, but things aren't running too smoothly with NBMC. They are having problems of their own being beholden to a criminal organization in LA that is intent on getting them involved in things they want nothing to do with...but worst of all they don't know who is running the show. There is an interesting twist to that story line, which if you pay attention is partially obvious. That being said I have mixed feelings about our heroine. She definitely suffers as a result of her abuse and while at the beginning of the book and even towards the middle this is shown in her paranoia with checking her surroundings and the peephole even when she knows who is outside, but then she just lets it all go when Ironfist returns and that puts her in immediate danger. There is also A LOT of repetition it is mentioned at least 3 times that Mitch was controlling, how Mitch physically looked, how he's all American. It's very redundant. Rebecca married very young and because of this despite her being 30 (YAY not some twenty something), she is very naive i,e. (birth control) maybe should have looked into it after the 3rd time I'm just saying. Anyways, I do like the fact that she tried to gain some form independence and financial stability and to be completely frank I don't think she owed Ironfist any sort of explanation about working at the strip club especially since he never made his claim known to her or solidify their relationship in anyway so kudos to her for not being dumb and relying on a man. She does of course get dumb around Ironfist but I suppose having a man that is partially dependable and one that finally treats her right (that she knows of) makes her complacent. One thing I can respect Rebecca for is that she ALWAYS puts her kids first. She is a really good mother. I really wanted to like Ironfist and honestly at the beginning I did like him especially with the bond he quickly forms with the kids. I especially liked the bond he formed with Maddux but then it all goes to he**. He gets wishy washy after everyone keeps asking if he's going to claim Rebecca and then he sleeps with Rebecca and goes on the goose chase with his MC against the LA Mafia. He continues on that downward spiral of indecision when he gets to LA and freaking cheats on Rebecca (because despite him saying he's not committed he has on several occasions repeatedly said that Rebecca is his)! After he has claimed her in his mind and to his MC members and after several MC members warn him not to be dumb and ruin what he has HE STILL DOES IT! Then after Rebecca has her own ordeal at work; he proceeds to get pissed off at the brother watching her, bro, you ARE NOT HER OFFICIAL MAN...either buck up and get on the horse or get off. Stop messing around and stringing her along she's a freaking abuse victim who has severe trust issues and like no self esteem! Then when he finally deigns her with a visit after he gets drunk and is still drunk; he doesn't even bother to be honest with her about sleeping around and deliberately avoids the topic while in bed with her...stellar move man....not! He eventually redeems himself I guess by stepping up with the kids and providing for them; which allows Rebecca to go to school and find herself a career. However I am super salty about the shadiness. There are also a few glaring discrepancies: Marilyn's house has full hardcore security which is app monitored and yet as soon as Ironfist realizes something is wrong he doesn't think to check the app and review the security vids? He could have easily found out what happened immediately. Then when Rebecca is in the car instead of being vigilant which she has claimed she has ingrained to the point of paranoia, she doesn't bother looking around to see what direction they are going. Girl, pay attention you've already dropped the ball once if you had any self preservation you would at least try and figure out where the heck you are! Needless to say at times she is a little TSTL. Frogger is probably my favorite side character. I am also assuming by the little tidbit given that the next book be Country and Paige's book as Paige is heavily featured in this book.

Repair My Life(Nasty Bastards MC Book 6) by Hailey Faiman is the story a Rebecca. She is married to her high school sweetheart who ends up being a deadbeat abuser. To keep her, Mitch has resorted to poking holes in his condoms inorder to keep Rebecca reliant on him. Tired of the abuse she once again is going to try and get away from him. This last ditch attempt results in her and her four kids broke down by the side of the road. Ironfist works at his MC's garage. Out picking up lunch he spots Rebecca with her kids standing next to a beat up van he has repaired more time than he can remember. Stopping to see what he can do,he ends up saving them after Rebecca brakes down and informs him of her situation. Evidently Ironfist has hah his eye on Rebecca for quite some time and seizes this opportunity to get what he wants. This is their story. I was interested in the story from the first page. This was my first time reading this author and the synopsis had me curious. I liked the characters and because this story is part of the world dealing with the Nasy MC, I am interested in some of the other characters back story. Yes this book is a standalone and the other books are not necessary to the story. I can say my interest is peaked. Ironfist aka Neilson as Rebecca calls him is not one of my favorite people and I will let you find out for yourself why. In his defense I have to say he is part of the MC world. Enjoy the story. I give it 3.5 stars. And yes I will probably read this author again.

Rebecca is a single mother of four who is desperately trying to get away from her husband. Her latest attempt ends up with her being rescued by Ironfist (Neilson), the VP of Nasty Bastards MC. Neilson has noticed Rebecca before and this time he plans to keep her safe, he also plans to build something with Rebecca. The club has a lot of issues swirling around and Neilson has to juggle a lot, but he knows Rebecca is going to be the key to heart.

I was enjoying this one quite a bit and although their relationship was not set in stone it had a no go issue for me that I just couldn't move past. Good story but I had a hard time respecting Neilson in the end.

Oh man! It was sooo good. The drama, the heat level was perfect and not over the top, the spark between Ironfist and Rebecca. They were just super cute together. Her kids were amazing and I loved seeing Ironfist being so open and receptive to taking on that type commitment. O really don’t want to give anything away but this was a well balanced romance that kept me hooked from the start. It was sad when I would have to take a break and do real life things. 5 stars #2OCCJD

This book is part of a series, but I think you can read it alone and still enjoy it. If you read it without the others there may be some confusion about the other characters past and what the MC is involved in, but you can still enjoy the book. There is some references to the other character past issues that may cause confusion if you have not read the other stories. Rebecca is a mom of 4 on the run from an abusive husband. Ironfist comes across her and her kids with their vehicle broke down along the road and stops to help. Ironfist finds out what's going on and since he's always been intrigued by her decides he's going to help them and try to become part of their lives and possibly claim her. The book has chemistry between the two of them right from the start and there are a couple of pretty steamy scenes between the two of them. There's more substance than just the heat between two people, it shows Rebecca's strength and what she goes through and how she makes a life for her and her kids. I was a little disappointed in Ironfist, especially when he goes away with his club members. Stuff happens and he feels bad about it, but never mentions it to her. I felt like I didn't have closure on the issue, it felt like something was missing. I felt like he was immature in some respects and liked the Rebecca character more than him. Despite what I just said about Ironfist I LOVED how he treated Rebecca's kids and his understanding toward their situation. The story does contain some content that some may find triggering such as violence against women. There is action and violence in this story. The kids in the story are just adorable and my heart went out to them dealing with their life. The author did a good job pulling me into their book world so that I felt I was right there with them and got a little teary eyed in a couple of situations. I liked their story, but they weren't my favorite couple in the series.

I feel conflicted…

Spoilers….
I hate it when I know something the FMC doesn’t . It would’ve definitely affected their relationship, especially when she already had insecurities. I guess that’s why the author didn’t write it that he came clean as it would’ve affected Rebecca too much for them to be together. If that’s the case, it didn’t really need to be written in the first place, it didn’t add anything or enrich the storyline, other than making us dislike him. It’s a shame as he was a really good character and his interactions with the children were really genuine and heart felt.
Also he never answered her question and deflected it, that would never happen. She was too self aware for him to sweep it under the carpet, as a woman and her history she wouldn’t have just forgotten that he never answered.
I hate it when a story feels unfinished because of a secret, it leaves a bad taste as the happy ending feels false. I just wish the author left that part out as it just wasn’t necessary.

**** Just edited to add it was slightly addressed in the next book. I’m glad as it does make me feel slightly better for Rebecca. But I wish we’d read about it fully to feel all the emotions and reactions.

I really enjoyed Repair my life it is book six in the Nasty Bastards Mc it's the first book I've read of the series but not of the author I really enjoy Haley Faimans work . I liked this book I thought the characters were really interesting and just drew me in to their story . My heart really went out to Rebecca all that she went through but still was there for her children she shown a lot of strength and character growth through out the book . I thought Ironfist was really awesome in the begging of the book and just the way he was drawn to the heroine and wanting to take care of her but also see the strength within herself . They had a lot of chemistry they both fought the attraction based on the heroine history and the hero not knowing if he could commit and be the one for the her but over all the just couldn't resist . Looking forward to reading more by the author she really knows how to draw the reader into the story .

Neilson and Rebecca's story is beautifully written, this page turner had me hooked.

I loved the chemistry and the connection between these two characters, they were so right for each other and he was so caring and protective of her and the children.
SPOILER ALERT -
He's been eyeing her for a long time, couldn't wait to claim her, make her his. She's been through so much and deserved a caring good man like him. Or so I thought. Then he went to California and did the unforgivable (in my eyes) he had sex with another female. Yet he had Rebecca on his mind constantly and couldn't wait to get back to "his woman"! DUH!!! NASTY BASTARD!!! Minus one star 😠

The storyline is great and the supporting characters are amazing. The suspense, danger, emotions and more kept me interested but unfortunately Ironfist couldn't redeem himself in my eyes because she deserved better, period.
It's worth reading if you can overlook cheating.

Rebecca has been dealt a hard life with an abusive husband. While trying to escape with her kids she gets help from Ironfist, who automatically forms a quick connection and becomes protective of them. It was good to see the dynamics that the mc had with taking Rebecca and her family in. The one thing that threw me off was when Ironfist was completely adamant about Rebecca being his for most of the story but had a one night stand with another woman while on the road. After reading that I thought he shouldn’t have jumped so fast when it came to committing himself to Rebecca and should’ve waited a little longer until the dust settled with Rebecca’s situation so they could both figure out their feelings and go from there. There’s also a lot of mafia drama that the club wants to be rid off so the suspense was good on how things would turn out.

Finally getting Rebecca’s story! After hearing a little of her story on a surface level in the other books, I was so excited to see what she was about, and Hayley did NOT disappoint! Rebecca married her high school sweetheart and while things were decent in the beginning, it turns out he’s abusive and a deadbeat that refuses to let Rebecca leave and keeps getting her pregnant. Trying to run away yet again, her attempt fails when her car breaks down yet again, but the difference is that Ironfist finds her before her husband and jumps into action. Instant attraction between Rebecca and Ironfist causes things to move quickly between them, and he makes sure that her and the kids are protected and happy, especially after the kids’ reaction to the trauma digs its way into his heart. Loving this series and can’t wait to see who’s next!

This story is a perfect love story! Rebecca has 4 children. She is running from her abusive husband. Ironfist is on his way to get lunch for himself and friends. Rebecca's van has broken down again as she is trying to leave. The Nasty Bastards decide to help her and they hid them from her husband.

Ironfist has always liked Rebecca and decides this is his chance for a family like his brothers have. He just has to figure out how to make it happen.

Rebecca's husband kidnaps her and they really wakes up Ironfist.

Hayley always writes such great books. This is very enjoyable. I highly recommend it.

The third book I've read in this series. They are standalone stories, but they do have a common storyline and recurring characters. After having read 3 different books, I notice that the men from this MC have trouble with the concept of being faithful, in thought or in reality, and there are actually no repercussions when they cheat, so if you don't like that, this is not your book. I have mixed feelings about it myself
It is written in a smooth, easy-to-read style. Not the standard MC novel, but an entertaining book.

Poor Rebecca has had years of abuse from her husband and she’s had enough, she runs with her 4 kiddies. After her van breaks down she is helped by Ironfist (Neilson), he shows her kindness and offers a safe haven. For the first time in her life, she’s shown respect and love by a man. The story has lots of side stories going on but all are intrinsically linked to the main storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

I absolutely adore this novel!! From the very first page, until the very last, this author has captured my attention with every word written!! I definitely recommend this story with it's amazing characters and their steamy love story!! ❤️

I truly, absolutely love MC stories! I love the thrill of the unknown, and the fact that their way of life comes before everything else. I find it so exciting that women and children, after the brotherhood, comes before all else. (Even if the male lead in this story was a bit of a jerk, taking his time to figure out how to act.)

We first meet Rebecca in Ruin My Life with her broken down van. There was a story to tell and what a story it was. Ironfist puts the van back together every time. When he finds her on the side of the road scare with her four kids he knows this is his chance. Ironfist is about to found out his woman has a lot of sass in her and she just not gonna go along blindly! Oh and let’s not forget the the other Ol’ Lady’s take her under their wings and show her the ropes! Oh and BTW war is knocking on the front door and a traitor is in the mist! JUST ANOTHER DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE NASTY BASTARDS MC!

Right now, this series is one of my top 3 favorite MC series out there.
I love so many things about this series and the guys in the MC, and the women they fall far.
But these guys love to make stupid mistakes!
I just wish they didn't, but at least this time, it really didn't affect his relationship (yet!).
I am SOOOOOO thrilled Rebecca got her story. I was WAITING for that.
Hoping there's more for this series.

This was an engaging book. I liked the premise but fir me, everything happened too fast with not as much character or situational development as I needed to give this a higher rating.

I love how this author writes-it feels real, genuine and you can “almost” relate to what’s going on in the story.

I’m sorry, she is one of my favourite authors but I needed more to give it a higher rating.

I have waited for Rebecca's story since she appeared in the first book of the series. This author has a way of creating a purpose for every single character in her books. Ironfist is a perfect match for her and the way he is needing everything thing she can give him. This is a super fabulous read, especially for the older crowd in our 40's still looking for love.

Repair My Life KU, 226 pgs **.* 3/24/23 Ironfist & Rebecca

2.5 stars. I could not get invested in this couple at all. The story was okay but there just wasn’t anything there between these two. The 4 kids were the only thing interesting about this entire book. There was MC action but most of it didn’t make much sense, going after a major mafia with just a few clubs. Not much I can say, had to force myself to finish this book

Fantastic conclusion to the series! However a star was removed for the fact that there was no reason that justifies iron fist cheating at all. Run or not she left one bad relationship for another. I still love Hayley’s characters and her writing but this scene just upset me. It didn’t follow the plot we were being given.

Ironfist is absolutely swoonworthy (for the most part)! He's exactly what Rebecca and the kids need and they're exactly what Ironfist needs too. This story, just like the others in this series is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and FULL of surprises, chaos, twists and turns and a MASSIVE betrayal. Get ready to dig in! Repair My Life is a fantastic story.

Honestly this book was fine. Ironfist was a bit much.
Rebecca is escaping a violent and controlling relationship only to end up with another controlling man?

I know it’s supposed to

There were parts about this book I really liked, and other, darker parts I hated. Rebecca and Ironfist I liked together, and was happy with their HEA. I didn't like the twist about Smoke, so that's why it was only a 3 star.
