I’m prepared to rain down hell on anyone who tries to hurt her.

It's official: I'm addicted to RC Boldt's romantic suspense. Her stories are pure book crack, full of action, mystery, and incredible multilayered characters. But this book? Well, this book may have been my favorite of hers to date.
I do want a nice guy.”
“Yeah?” There’s a hard edge to his voice that sends unease tiptoeing along my spine. “I can be nice.” He dusts his lips over mine in the barest caress, and I know when he says the word nice, his meaning differs greatly from mine. “I can be real nice.”

This, while in a similar vein to her romantic suspense, packed a paranormal gritty edge. It was unique and completely unputdownable.

If you like anti heroes, prepare to fall fast and hard for Bronson Cortez. This is a dangerous man with blood on his hands, but with a heart of gold. He's a man that does bad things to protect his community and his people. And he's a man with a lethal reputation that is justly earned.

Georgia Danvers is a medical examiner with a dark secret. She's a woman with a painfully dark past and a secret that haunts her present. Her job in the morgue is where she feels most comfortable. People are complex, but the dead aren't, and she loves what she does. But Georgia carries a dark secret that could cost her everything like it once almost did. When a body that ends up in her morgue sends her in the path of the town's most dangerous man, she doesn't try to overthink it. She just needs to give him a message and move on. But you know what they say about best intentions?

Bronson and Georgia together were absolutely incendiary. The chemistry between them is just as fiery as it is dangerous. These two were INTENSE. But nothing was more intense than Bronson. God but this man had me by the throat in the best possible way. He practically oozed danger and crackled with electricity off the pages. I couldn't get enough of him. And while Georgia is a little awkward and quirky, she's not a pushover. This is a woman full of sass and passion. She's a woman that gives as hard as she gets, and doesn't let Bronson steamroll her. There's just this endearing quality to her that I couldn't get enough of.

Now this isn't your typical romantic suspense, and I personally loved the paranormal element to this. I was glued to the pages from beginning to end and devoured it in one sitting. And when I saw that Bronson's friend is getting a book next? Beyond excited.

If you're looking for something unique and addictive, you need this book in your life.

This is not something I would normally gravitate towards but hey I blame it on the cover plus anything this author writes I will at least try it..So it went without saying that I was extremely nervous about this one but excited at the same time, and one I'd been anticipating..

I’m so glad I took that leap of faith to sign up and read this one because I really enjoyed it and it has me wanting to read similar books. This pulled me in and didn’t let go until that last page was read.

This author always delivers strong, sassy heroines and the leading character in this was no different, she had no qualms going head to head against a notorious gang leader and I enjoyed every second they went head to head.

Georgia Danvers is a medical examiner in Jacksonville, she's always thought of herself as an outsider, one that's never fitted in. Working in the morgue is the one place where she feels most comfortable.

289360173-2405926549550006-2592832717413764149-n

With bodies starting to pile up on her exam table seemingly executioner style, one by one they start talking to her and demanding that she go seek out Bronson, warning him to be careful. All fingers point to their rival gang, The Disciples.

Bronson Cortez is the leader of 'The Scorpions' and a man to be feared, admired and respected at the same time. He's a man who prefers the no strings attached single lifestyle.

Until her.

She's the only one brave enough to stand up against him, when he warns her off his turf that doesn't deter her. These two were perfect for each other. Both strong willed, independent and used to standing on their own two feet.

Beyond my Darkness was excellent!!!! I love how this writer mixed a dark romance with a nice touch of the paranormal and characters that were so unique as they were complexed. Georgia's backstory had me crying my eyes out for how she'd been treated by her own mother and others because of her special gift. See Georgia can speak to the dead and when two bodies end up at the morgue where she works and ask her to give a message to Bronson, leader of the Scorpions it puts her in the crosshairs of some unseen threat and as Georgia and Bronson try and piece together the clues their attraction grows but how does a woman who has a terrible secret and deep emotional and physical scars trust a man who has no problem with doing what needs to be done. Bronson is feared by all for his unflinching code of taking care of those who cross him or hurt those he cares for with a bullet to the brain execution style.
From the beginning mr.gangbanger( Bronson) and red( Georgia) have a sizzling hot chemistry and neither will back down, so when they have a major argument at the farmer's market it ends up with the big and bad gang leader getting on his knee's eating the shit out of our girl georgia and let me tell ya what! He's very good at it!!! And it only gets better!!! Bronson is no knight in shining armor as he tells Georgia and is deliciously dark with a tendency to be very violent and a bit of a stalker but he has the balls to do what he has to and without him his friends and family would be suffer. He's a protector of the the weak and his word is law. Georgia has had to learn to how to take care of herself so she's strong, smart and has the wise ass mouth with a loads of snark and is a perfect match for Bronson! Everytime she let him have it I cheered for this ballsy brave woman! This is my first book by R C Boldt and it won't be the last! Her storytelling is fabulous and her characters memorable and I read a sneak peek at the end of this book that Daniel another dark and dangerous character who is Bronson's second in command is getting a book too!!!! I'm so excited because he was very interesting too! Another book that as soon as I saw the cover and read the blurb I knew I had to get it! And I'm glad I did! Thank you to RC boldt, the publisher and give me books PR for the early copy! Until next time Luv's💕💋

Beyond My Darkness is marketed as a dark fantasy romance. It definitely delivered on the dark romance to some degree. I just didn’t get enough fantasy.

Georgia can reanimate corpses for small periods of time. She has a dark and abusive past that she has run from. Bronson is the local Cuban gang leader in Jacksonville. As bodies start showing up in the morgue, where Georgia is a medical examiner, she starts receiving messages from the dead. The dead want her to warn Bronson. Now she has to use her dark power to help Bronson get to the bottom of these murders.

There are some things that bothered me about this book. The anti-hero is supposed to be a leader of a gang. It just seems like Boldt couldn’t commit to the total bad boy. Bronson does bad things for good reasons. Everyone loves him and he’s very much about the community. The comment that had me laughing is when he justifies his drug business because they are the only drugs the people in his community with chemo can afford. Sure, those are the only people buying weed. It just seemed like he kept justifying his bad boy image. I’ve read other dark books where the bad guy was bad and there was no way around it. Boldt just didn’t want to commit fully to the bad, so it fell flat for me.

She never really delivered enough on the fantasy part. The heroine, Georgia, can speak with the dead … for a few seconds. I thought her power was going to be more explained and more useful. Or darker. It was none of these things. This is going to be a series so I suppose the explanations will be in later books. I’m disappointed.

Another thing that bothered me: Georgia is a medical examiner who dates the local gang leader. How in the world will she keep her job when people find out she is dating him? Medical examiners’ reports are used by the police in homicide investigations. Bronson kills people. How can she be impartial? No way she keeps her job.

The mystery was fine but pretty easy to figure out. It felt like the mystery and the fantasy were afterthoughts. The semi-dark romance was the focus. That’s fine, but I really wanted to read it for the other genre elements. I would give it about a 2.5.

"I'm prepared to rain down hell on anyone who tries to hurt her."

Beyond My Darkness is a Suspense Thriller full of passion, romance, action, and mystery! Georgia Danvers is a medical examiner who works in the morgue for the county precinct. Georgia isn't only a medical examiner. She also has a gift. Her gift is a deep dark secret that Georgia has kept hidden from the world. Her entire world shifts on its axis when she feels a strong urge to use her gift again. The transformation leads her directly into the arms of Bronson Cortez. Bronson is a gang leader who is always one step ahead of the law. When he sets his sights on Georgia, he is unsure of her motives and tests her at every turn. Georgia is no stranger to a challenge and is happy to push the boundaries with Bronson.

"I'm not sure I'm the kind of woman you'd even want."

Told in dual POV, Beyond My Darkness is a story that will keep readers engaged from beginning to end. Georgia and Bronson's connection is intense and passionate. The chemistry between them is palpable. The suspense and action will keep readers on the edge of their seats, while the romance and passion will leave them wanting more! In addition to the strong main characters, the supporting characters enhanced the plot and added an extra level of depth to the story. With all of the twists and turns in the plot, I was not able to predict the outcome. This book has left me with a humongous hangover. I am DYING for more!

"Maybe I'm ready to live a little after all."

Overall, Beyond Darkness was full of suspense, mystery, and romance. This twisted tale will appeal to readers who enjoy good suspense with a dash of romance! Beyond Darkness was my first R.C. Boldt read, and I cannot wait for more from this fantastic author!

“You’re gonna wreck me, Red.” My gut twists as if to punctuate it. “And I’m all here for it.”

A medical examiner who talks to dead people gets caught up in dangerous murder mystery with the hot badass gang leader.

However the execution of this storyline fell flat.
Her powers were very surface lvl and not explained enough.
The main mystery with the dead bodies was interesting enough but the "villain reveal" was ridiculous and predictable.

But i liked the romance between Georgia and Bronson and they were pretty okay as mc's even tho Bronson messed up big at the end but i enjoyed his grovel lol.

Tbh this is my first time reading paranormal romance and i kinda liked it😂
i'm curious about Daniel's book and who's his h. I really liked him.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: opposites attract; supernatural; romantic suspense
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥

All I have to say, is holy crap I loved this book so freakin' hard, lol. This was a new to me author, but the description sounded intriguing and wanted to give it a try. SO glad I did! Georgia Danvers is a girl who lives a solitary life. She's nerdy, has a propensity for word vomit when she's nervous, works in the coroner's office.... and the dead speak to her. Whether she wants them to or not, they seem to have something to say. And recently, they've been telling her to go to Bronson Cortez, the leader of the local gang and speak to him. Georgia isn't prepared for Bronson and the things he makes her feel, but Bronson isn't prepared either.

Totally devoured this book in one sitting! The storyline is original and super interesting and the writing, fantastic. The dialogue is super witty and Georgia's verbal vomit will have you cracking up. There is tons of action and suspense that will keep you guessing all the way to the end. Absolutely love Bronson. He's a protector of his community. Hard, but life has made him that way, but he has no idea what to think about Georgia. No one dares speak to him like she does, poking him continuously. He's completely transfixed by her and it's driving him crazy because it's new and it makes him vulnerable. Georgia is an absolute gem. Life has made her hard and solitary. As a person who's faced down death, she isn't scared of anyone and won't let anyone push her around, not even Bronson who she likes to call The Gangbanger, lol. I loved how their interest grew organically with each interaction, igniting a super hot chemistry between them. This really was just an awesome read and I am SO looking forward to the next book in the series!

This book was WOW...just WOW for me. I 've never read any books from R. C. Boldt, but I will make sure to fix this as soon as I can.

Georgia was a really strong, sassy and sexy character. She was everything that I wanted to be in life. After everything she's been through and the family that never cared, she became a medical examiner working in a morgue.

Seeing Bronson at first I though that he was a mafia leader, but thank God, the case was not at all. I am soo happy that the author turn more attention to him and Georgia than the crime stuff. Of course the mystery things were mentioned a lot and Bronson and his people were investigating, but I was soo immersed in the MC's love story. The sparks between them were flying all over the place every time they met with each other. And in the end they finally let go. There is soo much to see in Georgia as a character that I can not described with words. I can not wait for Daniel's book to come out. I am sure it will be awesome.

P. S. I still think that Bronson should have crawled some more for Georgia's forgiveness in the end, but even soo I was still satisfied 😁.

Reread 1/17/24 and still 4.75 stars rounded up to 5 because i love his love and faithfulness. Love the heroine. Love the hero. Woulda loved more words of love from him to go with his actions but I wasn’t left feeling like he didn’t care enough. Ever read a MC in romance who performs autopsies for a profession before. Thought i would get squeamish as I’m a wuss but it wasn’t icky at all.

loved!

Non man hoe hero, celibate during separation. No real OW drama. I truly believed he was sorry and I felt their love. The way he loves her… chefs kiss.
A grovel with no cheating. Yes please. Loved it! Some questions left unanswered but didn’t bother me. The only thing I wish was I wish we would have gotten the heroes POV during the shooting scene and his heartbreak during the aftermath. Show me his anguish while he waits for her to wake. His guilt. Show me his love.

Sadly this one didn't work out for me so if you are planning on reading this then scroll and roll this review.
While i loved both the MC's Georgia was sassy and strong and a bit reckless at times. She was a fantastic herione. Loved Bronson as well loved him being a strong leader for his men and his family. The storyline was a bit on the weak side like i felt their was too many questions being left unanswered which attempted to give it a suspenseful vibe but just left me bored and uninterested i was unable to connect. 🥲 The PNR aspect was also kinda just meh becuz it's never really fully discussed between both MC's he kinda just sweeps it under the rug.

TW: violence, scenes in a morgue(blood, open body cavity, wounds,) rape, ritual scenes with sacrificial wound inflection. Gang violence.

What a ride! Beyond My Darkness was my first book by this author and it most definetly won't be the last! It was intoxicating, and I was hooked from the very beginning.

Georgia and Bronson's story was everything I expected and more. Georgia has a special power and because of it, she is branded as a witch, a freak and a monster. She feels unwanted and vulnerable, when in reality she has the most beautiful soul.
Bronson is a gangbanger! He's is hot, fierce, swoon-worthy, arduous, protective, and stone cold when needed.
She uses her special power and tries to help him, but he's wary. What she's saying is unthinkable.

I had so much fun reading Beyond My Darkness when their worlds collided. Georgia challenged Bronson every step of the way, and he is a man who's not to be challenged, questioned or disobeyed.

A fantastic story! Spicy, intriguing, full of terrible pasts, suspence, action and emotions.
Can't wait for the next book.

Spoilers ahead 2.5*

Ok I've seen the reviews so I think this is a me not the book situation but here we go....

I forgot the mcs names 🙄😂

The h works in the morgue, she's apparently got a little extra power that she's been surpressing for years because it led to a really tough life for her before she left it all behind. Now she asks a corpse how they died and opened up Pandora's box..... apparently she can bring the dead back to life.....only long enough for them to deliver a cryptic message about how they died👀🙄 in this case the dead said to tell Bronson
Bronson (hah I remembered his name) is the gang leader of the Scorpions crew. He is a man of the people and for the people but doesn't hesitate to get his hands dirty. The h entered his territory to deliver her message and they get into a battle of wills....but as more bodies appear it's clear that something is going on and the killer is closer than they think.

******
This could've been awesome, when I realized the h could bring the dead back I was so excited because I love necromancer romances...but it was only for a couple seconds just for them to send her to Bronson
The H was a gangbanger....now maybe mafia romances have spoiled me because see I expected a Mafia boss type rather than a very cliched gang banger.....I kid you not I cringed at the members of his gang and their lingo. I mean why not have the black guy refer to the h as Shawty and the police as the popo what is this the 80s 🙄
Then there's the romance..... Bronson resisted the pull and the h went on a date with another guy.....then the mcs had a hot encounter then nothing again....more time passed while Bronson chases his tail....then sex then more chasing his tail then.....well yeah I didn't see the ily because they didn't actually have a relationship imo
Basically everything just felt weak and lackluster 😭 even the sex

I was however intrigued enough to move on to the next book about the best friend

*****
No cheating
Bronson had no problem getting him some....he reminds us often enough
h hadn't been with anyone in a while
OM drama from 2 guys....one she went on a date with other one was just persistent
OW drama from Bronson's ex

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Beyond My Darkness by R. C. Boldt delivered an engaging story line making it the perfect for readers who love their romance, spicy, edgy, dark, emotional and suspenseful with a dash of paranormal in the mix. Its designed to hold the reader’s heart hostage even after the story ends. Read on and see why this is one of my favourite reads for 2022.

Beyond My Darkness introduces Georgia, a medical examiner who possesses the ability to communicate with the dead. For twelve years, she suppressed her gift or curse as she saw it, for fear of the darkness it brought to her life. I understand how scary that can be, especially when it makes perceive you as a freak. However, when the bodies of two victims, whose deaths appeared suspicious, landed on her autopsy table, the abilities she tried suppressing raised its head. They begged for their murders to be solved and the one person who can help is no other than  Bronson Cortez, the leader of Scorpions. Her decision to approach the notorious gang leader to deliver the message she received from the victims would bring about changes to her life in the form of danger and romance.

As the leader of the Scorpions, Branson Cortez is not a man to be trifled with. Many who came in contact with him either respect him, are afraid of him, or want him dead. He has no desire for long-term relationships, besides which woman would be brave and strong enough to live in his world. Then he meets Georgia, the one woman who dares stand up to him. The woman who would change his life in more ways than one.

This is my second time reading this author’s work, and I had a wonderful time with it. I went into this book with high hopes it would deliver a page turning read, especially with that lovely cover. It delivered in that regard. Everything about Beyond My Darkness was fascinating. The romance, the suspense and the paranormal events all combined to make a fascinating story.

I was immersed in the lives of the characters and became totally invested in their relationship. I fell in love with Georgia, who possessed so much courage. Her experiences will have you reaching for a box of tissue. My heart broke for her on learning about the pain and heartbreak she experienced. These experiences toughened her, and so Bronson’s scare tactics did not have the desired effect.

Bronson is a hot, deadly, protective and charismatic gangster. Deadly to his enemies and protective of those he cares about. One c

The romance which developed between the characters had a rocky start. Neither was looking for a relationship, but they could deny their attraction for so long. I enjoyed the banter between Bronson and Georgia. One could clearly see how perfect they were for each other. The chemistry they shared was hot 🔥 enough to burn up the pages.

Boldt delivered a suspense storyline that kept me guessing. The revelation came as a complete surprise as the person responsible wasn’t even on my radar.

Overall. Beyond My Darkness is an intense and sizzling story which will kept me turning the pages and had me completely invested in every aspect of the story.

I've been so vocal of my love for this author ever since she went on the darker side of her romances, but this one is just so freaking good!! I loved the paranormal twist, but the opposites attract combined with their hilarious banter was just everything!!

Georgia, my poor sweet woman, has been through so much. All the horror she's experienced (partly by her own flesh and blood) at such a young age completely broke my heart. Because of that, she's understandably guarded towards people in general, and combined with her unique gift, she finds herself more comfortable at her job at the morgue than with alive people. But when multiple bodies with the same message come through her morgue, Georgia knows she can't sit on this information, and tracks down someone who's more dangerous to her than any other person before him. Not just because of who he is, but of the way she feels around him.

Bronson is an excellent hero, and I loved how infatuated he was with his red from the get go. He loved her sass as much as I did, and I loved that he loved that she kept putting him in his place. He may be a gangbanger with a blood stained soul, but he's also one of the most pure people out there. He's distrusting by nature too, and doesn't seem to buy Georgia's explanation of how she knows what she does, but he can't deny the threat that's about to break out. But the closer they become, the more they are in danger of breaking down all their walls, which could have disastrous consequences for them both.

As much as I loved these two (and I really did) I HATED the way Bronson reacted. But I LOVED how Georgia didn't forgive him right away and really made him work for her heart and trust again.

This was just a real winner for me, and I'm so glad we're getting more books in this world!! I can't wait for the next couple!!

This is RC Boldt’s best romantic suspense yet. With a touch of paranormal, this story is creepy, compelling, emotional, dark, sexy, and beautiful. I was captivated by Georgia and Bronson and could not put this book down. Mystery, romance and suspense, sign me up!

Bronson Cortez is the head of The Scorpions Gang (cue Rio from Good Girls vibes), while Georgia Danvers is a medical examiner for the local morgue. With her powers, she is able to speak to the dead to find out who killed them. The bodies keep piling up and keep saying, “Tell Bronson.” He’s menacing and scary, but she’s balsy and sassy. She’s got nothing left to lose after facing death head on in her past. Their story is romantic, dangerous, hot, and mysterious. I was questioning who was killing these people and trying to hurt Georgia. I was heartbroken for Bronson and Georgia!

I will definitely have a book hangover after this! Thank you RC for the arc!

This book was absolutely brilliant. Seriously amazing. Beyond My Darkness is a mix of mafia romance and romantic suspense sprinkled with some paranormal elements. It was perfect, from start to finish. I was immediately hooked by the unique story, this was my first book by this author and certainly won't be my last. I loved the writing style, I loved the heroine, how brave, sassy, and just so relatable she was. The hero was everything I love, assholish—in a good way—, powerful, with a soft side, and ready to burn the entire world for the heroine. I found the storyline to be so interesting and I was genuinely intrigued and pulled into it. The romance was perfection, the pacing was perfection, the steam was beyond perfection. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I'm looking forward to the next book!

I love all of RC Boldt heroines, and Georgia was no exception. Bronson and Georgia had a wonderful back and forth, and I loved their relationship development. He did say something shitty to her, but Georgia made him work for it.
The mystery part was not up to the usual standards I have for this author, but it didn't bother me too much because I loved the couple.

REVIEW: 3.5 EERIE STARS
"A knight in shinin' armor is fckin' useless."

Well then!!! I have been looking for something a little different in my reading repertoire and if this one didn't fit the bill, I don't know what will. As I have shared a few times on my Facebook page, I have been wanting to get into mafia/gang trope reads - but I have to ease in because I usually find myself going, "Well, this is so predictable." while I end up rolling my eyes or cringing because of "shock value" writing. Clearly, that is NOT what I want. Lo and behold, this comes across my feed and I knew I needed to check it out. I have read RC Boldt before, so I know her easy flow and her chill style of writing. I also enjoy her storytelling, so I knew jumping into this one with the magical side of a "demonic ability" coupled with the power of a strong man in charge of his own world, it would give me a little bit of excitement.

I was not disappointed!! To be fair, this was a super light, super easy read with these elements so I do want to make sure people aren't wandering in for some super dark, twisted, horrifying read. The "dark" side of this book wasn't dark at all, so the step over to it was really fairly easy for me and it tittered on the side of paranormal - again, not a lot of reference to it, but enough to fit into that category. I was immediately intrigued based on the synopsis since my favorite show is Pushing Daisies - and this kind of skirts that line in a very loose way. It definitely held my interest from start to finish.

"I'll never be normal because I'd rather spend my time with dead bodies than real people."

Georgia is her own person - and I know I often talk about how I love a strong female, but I have to point them out when I see them, and Georgia is just that: strong. She was feisty and determined, given everything she had been through, so watching her make her way through this was rather interesting. She definitely took a few routes I wouldn't have taken, but "knowing her" made it understandable. I liked her sassy side, and loved the way she spoke to Bronson and his crew. She was young enough in some aspects to be naive to things, but experienced enough to back up her bravado she needed to traverse the different sides of her own city.

Bronson was this super abrupt, but completely entrancing man that not only ruffled feathers, he had that look that melted ice cold hearts: mine, especially. I liked his demeanor. He ran a tight ship but made sure he had his morals in check. Hard to believe, being he was a gang leader - but he did. I just liked who he was and how he handled things. Boldt gave him a mission and his need to fulfill it was evident. He was a little soft around the edges at times, but I feel like he was justified given everything going on around him. I loved the way he pursued Georgia and how they both taught each other about matters of the heart, as stubborn as they both were. Their dynamic was a fun one to watch.

I just really liked the characters A LOT and I thoroughly enjoyed the dance they had during the entire book. I could have kept reading their story...

The step away from reality in my reading was a nice reprieve and I think it made this the fun read that it was supposed to be for me. The only issues I could really bring up were the transition from the suspense side of the book into the finale and wrap up of the story. I also didn't feel like I got the full extent of the whodunnit aspect because it was fed to me instead of figuring it out. Not bad, but the whodunnit bothered me a bit. The ending almost felt abrupt, but as I was explaining this to my husband, he asked the most simple question: do you think you just weren't ready for the story to end. I gave it a good think, and I can honestly say that was my biggest hangup, so maybe I wasn't done with them just yet. I could have kept reading about the ways that Bronson sought her out, touched her, loved her. I could have reveled in that a while longer. He was definitely the kind of man that made the heart beat a little faster. Again, I enjoyed the writing and the story as a whole, so I will most definitely read more stories/authors in this trope because I did enjoy the curiosity it allowed me.

END NOTE: This was such a fun read! I really, truly enjoyed it and think it's a fun 'tweener for those of us that haven't dallied in the dark part of the book world yet, as well as the 'magical powers' aspect of it. I liked being able to suspend belief and just go with the flow of the story, making it a super easy book to read. I definitely walked away knowing I had a smile on my face. RC Boldt is a lighter writer, so I know what I am getting into with her worlds and I always enjoy them. I don't have to overthink things and can usually power through them with a smile. OH!!! AND, there happened to be a link at the end....so, you know I clicked that so darn fast. So, now the countdown to October 25th officially begins because *I NEED* this next story something fierce. Kthxbye.

I’m always happy to dive into a new R.C. Boldt book, and Beyond My Darkness had me curious about how the author would introduce paranormal elements. As a big fan of paranormal stories, I was eager to see the author approach something new.

Beyond My Darkness was a story that grabbed me right away, leaving me curious about how the pieces would come together. While I will be honest and say that the elements many will label suspense failed to shock me (I worked things out far too easily), I was invested in watching the pieces come together. I was also extra curious about the supernatural elements. While I did enjoy these elements, a part of me wishes there had been more. I feel like they were introduced and never fully explored, used a plot point that was simply accepted. Many will be fine with this, but I love it when supernatural worlds are fully explained. I want to know everything, and I was left with far too many unanswered questions about the supernatural at the end. My fingers are crossed that future books set in this world explain things better.

All in all, Beyond My Darkness was an addictive read. It was nice to see something different from the author, and I’m certainly eager to read more set in this world.

This one was really surprising! I really didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. I had some issues but overall it was an interesting and intriguing and that surprise grovel at the end had me totally swooning!! I loved the j/p scenes and how protective the H was and the OMD but wish it was taken a bit further. I did like that he wasn’t threatened though and knew there was no way the other dude could ever be what she needed.

My biggest issue was that the characters seemed way too young for their ages. The h was 29 but acted like 22 and the H was 39 but seemed more like late 20s/early 30s. It wasn’t a big hang up because there are reasons why, in her case especially, that they act the way they do but it irk me at times and took me out of the story a bit. There were def times when this got a bit soap operay, especially in the later 1/3 but I still ate it up lol.

I liked the mystery. It wasn’t overly convoluted or twisty so it didn’t feel gimmicky. I think in order to throw us off the author introduced some different things that didn’t totally get developed or fleshed out in the end. Like what’s up with the one dude? I get it, some things just can’t be explained but I would like to see what’s going on there.

WOWWWWWWWW!! This book totally blew me away. I wasn't sure where it was going, but I was HERE FOR IT! I loved the push/pull between these characters. RC Boldt made me FEEL everything and I couldn't put the book down. I enjoyed the way the reader knows Georgia's past is bad. My heart hurt for the little girl she once was. And Bronson.... WHEW! Fans self. What a guy! I loved Georgia's sass and her IDGAF attitude. She wasn't letting a little thing like a threat from a gang leader stop her. I found myself smiling throughout this book (it was a good thing I read it from home or I would have looked a little crazy) and going through the emotions with Georgia. I can't express HOW GOOD this book is! If you're willing to try something a little on the paranormal side, then DO NOT MISS THIS BOOK! Seriously. Top read of 2022 for me!

RC Boldt has solidified herself as one of my go-to authors for romantic suspense.
Georgia can talk to the dead, and when she has multiple people waking up and telling her they were murdered by one of the gangs in town, and that she has to "tell Bronson", their leader. She has no choice but to seek out Bronson and relay the messages.
Bronson is the leader of the Scorpions and definitely not an approachable man, but Georgia just has to get him this one message and then she can be on her way. She knows she sounds crazy, but he doesn't have to believe her, he just needs to look into these murders and what his gang is being accused of.
When Georgia becomes a target though, Bronson realizes that he might need her more than he thought.
The book was long but never felt that way when I was reading it. It was fast paced and I was speeding along waiting to see what would happen next. Bronson and Georgia were fire together and I loved the banter between them. Eventhough he was a menacing man, Georgia wasn't deterred and still gave as good as she got.

5 Stars!

This is not a story that I usually gravitate towards. Blame it on my love for this author! And I am SO GLAD that I did!! If you like a unique story that will have you glued to the pages from the word go, this is a book to check out!

Georgia Danvers is a medical examiner with a secret. She's a woman with a painful, dark past and a secret that haunts her present. She also has a gift.

Bronson Cortez has a rough exterior, a tough demeanor, and a ruthless reputation. No one would expect him to be capable of love with all the rumors about him and the blood on his hands. Yet, appearances can be deceiving.

This was a gripping story with a thick plot and a beautiful love story and I loved it! This is becoming a go-to author of mine!!

An unforgettable story, beautifully written, a thick plot that will keep you guessing till the very end, a background mystery adorns this eerie canvas. Enchanted words breathed by the author will seep in, infusing your flesh, taking residence into your soul making a home into your heart.

~𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒏𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒚 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅, 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒇 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒆. 𝑰𝒏 𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝑰 𝒂𝒎~

We all have talents, some of us are better at discovering them than other, some luckier people are born with gifts. Georgia is one of the luckiest of the bunch, however envious minds shun her, call her names, they revolt and bully her because their ignorant little selves can’t fathom such a gift. These evil people are the cause Georgia sees her gift like a curse, she doesn’t want such dark power, she runs away from an harrowing past, she starts a new life she builds a new person. However the past has a nasty habit of catching up to you. And this time Georgia has to face a bigger problem, her gift/curse pushes her into the arms of a gang leader no less! And yet, after first impressions are crushed and stereotypes burned she’s left with no defence. She only wanted to belong, be loved and love back, to be accepted, but it takes a strong special kind of breed to deserve a special person such as her.

~𝑰𝒕'𝒔 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒔~

Bronson Cortez, his rough exterior, unforgiving demeanour and ruthless reputation are introduction enough to warrant danger. No one in their sane mind could think he would be capable of love, what with all the rumours about him and the blood on his hands. Yet, things are never what they seem. Acceptance a sense of belonging, love can sometimes be found in most unlikely spot.

~𝑰 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆'𝒔 𝒏𝒐 𝒃𝒊𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒖𝒈𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚. 𝑵𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍~

I love Georgia, I cried for her I wanted to hold her and scream how good she is, how special and how deserving of everything. Bronson was a force of nature, I appreciated his dark aura, unforgiving nature and loyalty. I enjoyed how he came all cocky over Georgia and was put into his place by her sassy mouth. This was a haunted journey and I enjoyed every curve and turn.
