From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds comes a bittersweet romance about the risks and rewards of falling in love.

Everly never expected to move back in with her parents, and she definitely didn’t expect to do so as a single mother. But with the father of her son suddenly out of the picture, she’s had to make some adjustments to her plans.

Now Everly has one priority: to make a life for herself and her boy. And Blake, her sometimes infuriating but admittedly handsome employer at Live Life Adventures, doesn’t factor into her future as anything more than her boss.

But it seems the guy who’s about as friendly as a grizzly bear has a soft spot for her and her son…and the more time she spends with him, the more difficult it is to remember why giving in to the chemistry between them is a bad idea.

Now, with their future on the line, they’ll have to decide if love is a risk worth taking.

I think this book just wasn’t for me. It was sappy and sentimental and made me 🤮 and 😬 the whole way through. It was a well written story with good pacing but just had no teeth. It was like an overripe peach, a pile of mushy sweetness that I choked down. I’m also totally not into the martyr single mother character, I loathe that kind of woman. The virtue signaling, I don’t want to ask for help, I won’t hold the birth father responsible, my son is my everything beyond my own well being kind of chick. I have kids and love them but I do not like to read books about women who lose themselves for their child. Stories like this always end up feeling like the FMC chooses the man best for her kid and not for herself. Everly kept saying that Blake made her feel ‘safe’ and that just isn’t romance to me. It’s not swoony, it’s just mediocre. Sure in real life safety is great, but I’m looking for escapism here. This story just made me feel meh.
Also I kept getting caught up in the author’s details about the babies in this book, she writes children under one years old like toddlers, drinking milk, eating bacon, pronouncing full, complicated words. It’s like she’s never met a baby before. This kid Sampson was 10 months old at the beginning and getting his first bottom teeth, drinking milk from the fridge, walking around and talking. All these things, unless exceptional, most kids don’t do so young (except for the bottom teeth, those come in at 4 months). And how was Margret’s daughter already almost a year old when she was in her third trimester of pregnancy when Cybil found out she was pregnant last book. If Cybil is just now giving birth (early it seemed with the emergency c-section) that would put Taylor at 7 months at most. But she’s running around and hugging and talking. Maybe they live in a different universe where baby development is on warp speed.
Anyway if you need a sappy read and you like that single mother/victim type character then try this one. For me it was just mush.

I’m really enjoying this series. I liked this one even more than Rushed, Tanner and Cybil’s book. And who’d have thought I’d be won over by Mr Grumpy.

Everly is a great female character. She’s strong, compassionate and absolutely perfect for Blake.

Everly and her adorable son Sampson have moved back in with her parents. Sam’s dad wants nothing to do with either of them. So Everly packs up and starts her life afresh. She finds a job at Live Life Adventures and the rest as they say is history.

Blake is carrying a huge burden. He’s keeping a secret from his mum and sister and it’s eating away at him. But his life brightens when he meets Everly.

I’m really enjoying this series and I can’t wait for the next book which I’m assuming will belong to Maverick. Although I’m hoping Margret gets her own book because there’s an interesting story there.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publisher and NetGalley.

Risky is a short and sweet single mom romance. I enjoyed this one a lot! It’s also a bit of a grumpy/sunshine which I’m always here for. I wish it was a little bit longer, but aside from that it was great. I especially liked the dynamic between Everly, Blake, and Everly’s son, Sampson. So cute!

2/5 ⭐️ This was a quick and easy read but nothing special or anything that stood out to me. It did have some sweet and cute moments between Everly’s baby and Blake but I wasn’t really feeling the romance. And the pacing of the story was just off. The whole story was very predictable.

Blake and Everly's story is another sweet, romantic book in the Aventures in Love series. Sometimes the sweet stories can come off a bit dull, but I have found that this author just really knows how to keep you interested without adding a ton of drama to the story. There is some drama, but the right amount that keeps things interesting while still seeing a couple fall in love and actually see them together. On top of that, I'm such a fan of the gentlemen heroes. Blake, while being grumpy in the beginning, turned out to be such a sweet guy. I loved how he takes care of those he loves. Risky was an easy read and really just made me smile.

I found Risky to be an okay book. Just like with book one in this series, the chemistry was off and there's something else that I can't put my hands on that is missing. The chemistry and spice between the characters weren't what I'm used to from ARR. Along with that, I don't find it being a memorable read. not saying that it's terrible, it just wasn't a winner for me.

I received an ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

Everly is moving back home after a horrible break up with a man who doesn't even want his own son. Her goal work make a life for herself and her baby boy no relationship but it changes when she meets her new boss Blake he's a grump and tries to avoid her at all cost. Or when they have moments together it's sweet but she can't date her boss she had to focus. And as for Blake he had no time for dating he's also keeping a secert that's more heartbreaking. But the more he spends with Sampson and Everly the more he wants that. Beside the growing relationship we get hints of past couples some future couples and Everly Ex's parents causing some drama.

3 Everly and Blake Stars

This is the second book in the Adventures In Love Series. We met Blake and Everly in the first book, Rushed. Blake works alongside Tanner and Maverick running their business that gives townies a chance to hike and camp and explore in the wilderness. The men are all ex military and this is their joint venture. Everly is the new person they have hired to help with admin and bookings, planning etc so this starts off with an office romance (kind of) type of feel to it but the stronger trope is that of single parent.

Although I liked Everly and Blake well enough, this isn't a book I would read again. One of the things I love about this author's work is the drama that she creates and I felt that was lacking in this book. I would say it's a nice book and has got a decent amount of passion - there is definitely heat between these two from the start - but I felt like I was waiting for something dramatic to happen and it just didn't.

I am very interested to read Mav's book next though. Reckless sounds like it will be bringing the drama...

The only bad thing about Aurora Rose Reynolds books is that she can't write them instantly. I feel like I spend so long waiting for her next book and then I blink and I've read it already and I'm right back to waiting again. The positive is that they are so worth the wait.

This being the second book in the series, I don't feel like I know my way around all the characters. But then we got new characters and a little more of the characters we met in the last book. And as I read it, the previous story came flooding back and I couldn't get through it fast enough to see how everything was going to happen.

Everly and Blake had so much chemistry from their first meeting. And after everything Blake had going on making him cranky, Everly was just the ray of sunshine he needed. Add in the completely adorable Sam and I could have read about them for days.

I loved everything about this book, and I am absolutely dying to get my hands on Mav's story because I felt teased by that from the middle of the book.

I'm such a sucker for small town romance and this was incredibly addicting. I blinked, and it was over. Blake is your typical grumpy guy but only sweet for the fmc, and this being a single mom romance made it all the more sweeter. I think my ovaries exploded at one point cause the way he accepted Everly and Sampson. My heart 🥺
It was a little insta lovey, but considering it's only 200 pages, you gotta excuse it, but I didn't mind either way. I loved their relationship, and I wish it was longer. I really like the author's writing style, and these books are so addicting and wholesome for when you need a short romance fix. I'll definitely be reading more from her in the future :)

Risky, the second book in the Adventures in Love series was even better than the first. This is the first series I've ready by Aurora Rose Reynolds and there is something about the storytelling that keeps me glued to the pages. I can't put my finger on it, but I went into this a little hesitant that I wasn't going to like it, and then I found myself addicted to the story, and the unexpected delight that was Blake, Everly, and Sampson's love story.

I adore a good grump. And Blake gives good grump. He was a total jerk when we met him in Rushed and in Risky we get a lot more insight into what was making him tick, setting him off, and generally making him behave like an unruly bear. Also? He is impossible not to love after all this.

Everly snuck right under his skin and, frankly, your ovaries are not ready for the deliciousness that is Blake's relationship with Everly's son Sampson. It was a joy to read. It hit me right in the heart and filled it up in the exact way that I wanted it to. I loved them together. I loved the adorable little family that they created and I just really enjoyed their story!

I can't wait for more from this motley group of family and friends that I've grown so fond of! This series is turning into an unexpected treat and I will definitely be back for more. ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

dnf at %83 I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE

it's just so boring 😭 i forced myself to keep reading and waiting something to happen but it never did. everything resolved so quickly, they got together so easily like he started calling her babe and kissing her and one they he said they're together???

idk if my boss keeps calling me babe and let me sit on his lap to comfort me I'd call it harassment 🤠 they acted like things were happening smoothly but it actually felt weird.

and i don't even want to start talking about the baby. walking and talking when he's 10 months old? drinking COLD milk from fridge when he's a year old?? and the baby started calling mmc "da, da" after meeting him first time??

single mother, no ow/om drama, no third act, loving family and friends and the result is this???? so disappointing. 2 stars for the time i spend reading this instead of studying

This was an adorable book and it quenched my thirst for a single mom romance. All the moments between Blake and baby Sampson were everything I was wanting and more.

The romance between Blake and Everly was also super cute but also a bit lack lustre? They’re just a bit boring together? There wasn’t much back and forth pull between them and seemed a bit too insta love for my liking.

With that being said though, I still enjoyed it for being a 200- something page book!

Well, after a strong start, this Adventures in Love series veered off into a leisurely stroll through the grocery store. That is, to say, not very adventurous at all.

The premise of Risky is good - Everly has moved back home with her 10 month old son after her boyfriend decided he doesn’t want to be a dad (or her boyfriend either, really). She gets hired as the office manager of Live Life Adventures, where owner Blake instantly behaves like a caveman over her.

Okay, so it’s not quite that bad. Blake tows the line, but doesn’t ever really cross over into alpha male behavior (a staple of this author’s hero characters). And things get awfully close to instalove, yet manage to not fall firmly into that camp, either (also familiar territory for the author). However the hero does call the heroine “babe” way before there’s anything happening between them.

In fact, I felt like there wasn’t anything happening for much of the book. Nothing felt well developed in this story. Blake is grumpy (caused by a serious family issue he’s secretly dealing with), and there’s some minor drama involving Everly’s son. But otherwise this story just gave me meh feelings. Which is disappointing because I know this author is capable of bringing all the feels.

The humor and charm that was present in the first book of this series is mostly absent. I liked the characters, but there was very little about the relationship that was risky. I didn’t dislike this story, but I didn’t find much here to recommend it either. Yet…I’m still interested in the stories for the last owner, and I’m REALLY interested in a story about Blake’s twin sister!

* thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Sidenote: this book doesn’t release for another four months (May 24, 2022); I usually wait until closer to the release date to read and review a book but decided to go ahead and read the second book in this series - and write the review - since I was so tardy in reviewing the first one. I really feel bad that I’m not giving a more positive review…but a reviewer has to give their review of both the good and the not so good, so here we are.

I absolutely love any story that includes a grumbly alpha hero that goes soft with a baby and Blake fits my craving for such a character to perfection. With a little jealousy in the beginning and a whole lot of protectiveness I fell faster than Everly. But then again, all she was seeing was the grumpy side of his nature as he struggled with his preconceived notions and incorrect assumptions.

While I liked Everly, it was really Sampson that stole the story for me where she was concerned. This author never forgot that he was as much a part of the story as the hero and heroine, which is something that often happens when children are included. I could feel every tiny fist, hear every gurgling laugh, and remembered my own babies’ weight against my chest through Sampson’s character.

This is a fast paced read with very low angst and high steam. While the storyline carries some conflict, I never felt anxious or antsy about how it was going to work out. I loved the secondary characters and the promise of more to come. Overall, this was a great read to just relax and enjoy the romantic process.

RANTING: 3 stars ⭐️

This book was so sickeningly sweet that I almost passed out by all the sugar overload 🥴

Also, the martyr heroine isn’t my thing. It annoys me! The hero doesn’t ever cross over into alpha male behavior as the author described. And although this wasn’t insta-love, it was pretty close to one! Things moved pretty fast between the main characters and you got nothing else left in the story to keep you there.

I loved the family interaction but that was all. I should have paid closer attention to the cover. It matches the story.

Risky is the second book in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ Adventures In Love series. Risky can be read as a standalone given the love aspect revolves around a new couple, but I highly suggest you read this series in order. I feel you’ll be able to appreciate the bond between Blake, Evely, and baby Sampson even more if you first read Rushed. But the choice is up to you.

Before I start this portion of my review, I want to state that I did insert a tiny spoiler in the section below. I know in today’s world cancer seems to be everywhere and is often emotinally triggering to readers. I try to do my best to warn fellow readers of emotionally triggering content. So I apologize if you are a little bit spoiled from here on out. My job as a reviewer is to protect reader’s hearts and their mental well being.

Everly thought she had her life planned out. She had the man of her dreams and she had a relationship she thought could defy even the toughest of times. Until the moment she found out she was pregnant and baby Sampson entered the picture. She soon realized the man of her dreams was in fact a slimy toad who didn’t have any intention of being a father. So Everly finds herself moving back home with a baby in tow and a new job in place.

Blake has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Not only does he have a business to look after, but he also holding onto a secret that will affect the emotional state of his mother and sister. How do you tell your family the one person they depend on has cancer and it’s not treatable? Even if he could tell them, he has promised to keep his dad’s cancer a secret. So to say he has the weight of the world on his shoulders is an understatement. The only person he’s able to confide in is the new single mother Live Life Adventures just hired.

My Thoughts:

WOW! I wasn’t aware that anyone’s story could top Tanner and Cybil’s story, but clearly, I was wrong on so many counts! Aurora Rose Reynolds stole my heart with Blake, Everly, and baby Sampson’s story! I’m still sitting here with a huge grin on my face and a heart full of happiness.

Let’s start with Blake. I loved the fact that he was the grumpy personality to Everly’s sunshine personality. This is a man who was currently going through the motions of life with the weight of the world on his shoulder. The motions of work, family time, and sleep was on an endless loop. Until Everly and baby Sampson came into the picture. I honestly think the moments between Blake and Sampson were my absolute favorite. This man was made to be a father and from the moment Blake set eyes on Sam the fatherly vibes set in. Gah! There’s nothing sexier than a man who choses to step into the father role from the start, no questions asked.

Then we have Everly. This woman gets the mother of the year award in the romance world! I loved the fact that she was a mother first, her son was her main priority. The way she cared for and doted on Sampson brought tears to my eyes. She was not only caring and nurturing, but she was also fiercely protective and independent when it came to raising her son. I loved every facet of her character. I don’t think any heroine to come in this series will top my love for Everly’s character.

Now let’s talk about the instant ‘Boom-worthy’ chemistry between Everly and Blake. I loved the slow approach with these two, especially given the fact that there is a baby boy’s heart on the line. I loved the fact that they took their relationship slow to the point where it all just came natural. Their friendship merged into a relationship to the point where I knew it was coming but it all felt completely natural like a real life relationship. I guess what I’m saying is I loved the slow relationship build-up.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I not only loved, but also appreciated Everly and Blake’s story. Aurora Rose Reynolds brought the slow burn BOOM and brought it hard. I was a fan from start to finish. So we have another five star read within the Adventures In Love series! As of right now, I’m not sure how ARR is going to top the first two books in the series. All I know is I have a feeling Maverick’s story is going to be pure fire!! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for this man and his happily ever after. He was acting too strange around the ending of Risky for there not to be an epic happily ever after!! EEEK! The more I imagine his story, the more I want Reckless! Is it August yet!?

Was, wenn alles anders kommt.

Heroine is pushover...
She stayed with her ex for too long. And doesn't even demand that he pays child support. How stupid... it takes two to tango... and that piece of sh# didn't even sign the birth certificate. Where is your lawyer, woman???

Not to mention that she breaks down in tears after her ex calls her for the first time in months... why is she disappointed with him now? All of that happened nearly two years ago when she was pregnant and that dude wouldn't touch her belly... effed up.

Anyways, I thought this book fell a bit short overall- also with the romance story between the two MCs. I loved the family interactions but something was missing...

Guess I am waiting for the next Until book...
But then I kinda also want to read more of this series and learn more about the other characters... oh dear...

Overall, this book probably deserves a better rating than 2 stars but... I was so angry with the heroine for not putting herself first. What did she think would happen, honestly?

Everly thought she met the love of her life and gave up everything to be with him. When she found herself pregnant she thought he was on the same page, she couldn't have been more wrong he wanted nothing to do with her or the baby. Finding herself living with her parents again as a single Mother is not the greatest start, but she loves her baby and finds a job working for Live Life Adventures. Meeting one of her bosses Blake, she feels he dislikes her from the start but she finds that when he has a weak moment he is there. Trying to maintain a strictly boss-employee relationship is becoming increasingly more difficult but will they act on their feelings or keep the distance between them?

Another phenomenal book by this talented author. You fall in love with all her characters and with Blake who was a jerk in first book you begin to understand why he is the way he is. The story is filled with emotion, humor, and terrific characters.

The setting is spectacular; the characters are so well drawn, and I loved the interaction and chemistry between them and how their love blossoms slowly but steadily.

A beautiful romance story with a second chance at love that deserves to take the risk.

Adventures In Love captures everything that makes Aurora Rose Reynolds- romantic spark, small town, fast-falling characters, and low angst dreamy charm. Aurora’s characters always capture my heart, and I’m loving the whole Adventure crew.

Risky plays on the grumpy heroine angle that ARR so deftly crafts with our hero Blake. Yet again, we’re visiting Live Life Adventures, as heroine Everly is a new office manager to owner Blake- and that ARR spark hits fast, and grumpy but endearing Blake goes all alpha, but like a sweet, diet version. Everly has moved home with her young son, restarting her life as a single mother.

Chemistry wise, this one felt a bit more on the instalove side. Blake was a bit of a jerk in Rushed, so I enjoyed getting to see more nuances to him and just what makes him the grumpy creature he is- and he ends up being quite endearing. He doesn’t go full caveman alpha jerk like some ARR leading mean- he’s on the softer end of the alpha spectrum- but he’s still got all the growly edge we love in a ARR leading man. And Everly is a classic ARR heroine- likable, hardworking, and resilient. We also get the treat of seeing Blake bond with Everly’s son- and that was just adorable watching these three form their own little family unit.

FOr the most part, the plot is pretty low drama and angst- in fact, it feels a bit tranquil, not overly exciting in any places. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it is a quieter story to me compared to the sparks of the first- it was a nice, placid retreat from the world around me.

I’m super excited about more from the series and stories from some of the other characters, including our lingering owner. Hoping we have lots of adventure with that one.

f: Everly
m: Blake
(Dual POVs)

We get to know Blake a bit throughout the first book in this series and he doesn’t always come across as a supportive friend. I really appreciated the insight we get into Blake in this book, which helped me to understand part of the reason why he acted the way he did in the first book. Like Everly, I did have sympathy for him and the things he was going through that caused him pain. Even though it wasn't an excuse to act the way he did, it did immediately soften my feelings for him.

I was a little surprised at how quickly these two seem to open up to one another, especially Blake since he’s been keeping secrets from his closest friends and family, but it seemed to be a great stepping stone for them to start to form a bond. Blake seems quite prickly when it comes to Everly, but as soon as Sampson enters the picture, that’s when we really get to see his soft and sweet side! Never once does it seem like Blake was unsure or reluctant about being around Sampson or caring for him. The immediate way he seemed to take to him was swoon worthy! After being riddled with worry, guilt, and stress, Everly and Sampson seem to be just what Blake needs to remind him of how precious joy and love are in life.

Everly’s attitude toward her baby daddy was different, but I wasn’t mad at the way she chose to handle things and the path she chose for her and her son. She’s a fierce and protective mama bear that always has the best interest of her child at the front of her mind. I hated the situation she gets put in, with certain people treating her worse than dirt, but I’m glad Blake was there to stand up for her and comfort her.

Overall, this was a pretty smooth read with easy-to-like characters and low drama. There are some external conflicts that the characters face in their lives, but nothing that really interferes with the couple’s relationship once it’s begun. Once again, we’re teased with sightings of Mason and Margret and I’m still holding out hope that we will get a book for them!
