The 10 countries with the best lovers for…holiday romances

According to an insurance company poll

A new poll has revealed that Scots have been voted the best lovers in the world.

The poll of 2,000 Brits who admitted having a holiday romance, found that those who bedded a Scot were left with the biggest smiles on their faces.

The study found that folk from Scotland beat not just the English, Welsh and Irish, but also the French, Italians, and Americans.

Those quizzed were asked to rate their holiday flings – which they had when visiting the country in question – on a scale of 1-10, with those who gained ‘top marks’ – between 7-10 points – as follows;

1 – Scotland – 43 per cent

2 – Italy – 41 per cent

3 – France – 38 per cent

4 – England – 37 per cent

5 – Spain – 35 per cent

6 – America – 34 per cent

7 – Portugal – 32 per cent

8 – Ireland – 31 per cent

9 – Sweden – 31 per cent

10 – Wales – 30 per cent

As Scotland topped the leaderboard with a score of 43 per cent, Italy held onto the second top spot with just two per cent less.

Wales came at the end of the list, ranked number 10, while Ireland had a slightly higher ranking of 31 per cent at number eight.

Derek Simpson, 41, of Edinburgh, said he ‘wasn’t surprised’ at the findings.

The educational worker said: “Scots know how to charm the socks – and everything else – off folk and how to leave a good impression.”

A spokesman for loveit coverit, which conducted the poll, said that holiday flings were a part of a trip away, as well as ‘culture and food’.
