Session title: Inclusive Humanitarian Response (Gender, Age, and Disability)

SessionAbstract

The session will focus on inclusion principles of Gender, Age and Disability throughout the Humanitarian Programme Cycle, with special focus on the preparedness phase. The session will help operations working in emergencies and humanitarian response to better consider the marginalised and vulnerable groups, especially during is the most important phase, which is the preparedness phase. Sensitisation of the elements of Gender, Age and Disability in this phase will ensure leave no one behind. It helps to identify the issues, needs, priorities and opportunities. It puts the individual at the centre of the response. Focus of practical examples of the field will be shared with audience.

The session will be delivered by two experts, the disability section will be covered by Sabreen Dweib, Inclusive Technical Assistance Project Manager at the Global Protection Cluster. Gender elements will be covered by Hanan Zanoun, Senior Gender Advisor deployed by GenCap supporting Northwest Syria from Gaziantep in Türkiye.

Hanan Zanoun, Senior Gender Advisor, GenCap supporting the North-West Syria operation in Gaziantep in Türkiye

Hanan has more than 20 years of experience in the field of protection, she has Master’s degree in Regional Planning, and license in practicing family protection and Sharea law. She worked as lawyer at the beginning of her career life, supporting abused women and children, to move to work with the UN on Child Protection, Women empowerment and Gender. She worked to support 7 operations, (Sudan, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan and Türkiye), she worked for number of UN agencies (UNHCR, UNESCO, UN Women UNICEF, and now with GenCap supporting the North-West Syria operation in Gaziantep in Türkiye).

 

Sabreen Al Dweib, Inclusive Technical Assistance Project Manager, Global Protection Cluster

Sabreen has around 20 years of experience in the field of disability inclusion, her back ground is an occupational therapist, she has worked with persons with disabilities in different countries such as oPt, Jordan and Syria.
