Renina's Sabbatical and Creativity Fund

Donation protected
Community, I come to you to fundraise for my sabbatical.
I am wrapping up graduate school and have decided to community fund my sabbatical.
For many years I have shared my wisdom, ideas, and love of hip-hop, feminism, and Black history, art and culture on social media since 2005.
If you can support me, it will be greatly appreciated.
I have continued to chase this degree despite breaking my wrist one summer.
During another summer, someone beat me, mugged me and tried to rape me. In true East Oakland fashion, I fought him back in 3-inch heels.

I have published two books, "Black Girls are from the Future" and "Niamas Adventures," and they have traveled the world with your support. I am completing the second version of both books as well. They both are available for preorder here.

I have mentored four Black women who have graduated ahead of me. I see it as my duty to help Black women mitigate the horror of grad school. And life.

I need to rest, and Naomi, Simone Biles and most recently, Serena Williams have exemplified the importance of Black women laying down and switching gears when required.
If you have ever learned anything from me, this is an opportunity to show me some love.

I plan to rest for two months. Next, I will finish the books, graduate and work on a Black Girls Are From the Future documentary series to be released on Youtube as a subscription-based series. I will also write an ebook titled "College Success for First Generation Students" for Black youth who are the first in their families to attend college.

A little Black girl from east Oakland did it ya'll. From being in an MC Hammer video to becoming an award-winning college lecturer and author.

We are taught to celebrate women when they get married and have children. I invite you to celebrate this outstanding achievement that I accomplished DURING THE PLAGUE. Won't you celebrate with me that graduate school did not destroy me? We have so much more art and community to build together.

Thank you for sharing, donating, and supporting my work over the years. I love you, and I love myself.
