Nice setup Andrew, and I can see you believe in grinders 8) You always need at least 2 of them for switching between beans and methods of brewing.

Upgraded from my La Pavoni Millennium to Brewtus IV. So far I'm loving the temp stability the dual boiler is giving me.

nickw wrote:Can pull shots on either the L1 or the Slayer. They're similar overall (with L1 shot volume capping around 45g-ish). No problems with the EK grinding fine enough. After cleaning and alignment I can choke the Slayer. That said, you still get very fast flowing shots of you want to avoid microchanneling.

The EK shots are defiantly good, can be very balanced, sweet and clear; body wise, they're closer to a very strong areopress than traditional espresso. If you've had EK shots I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. It's also a different workflow pulling the shots, and is probably different than most are used too, I had an adjustment period.

Taste wise I much prefer the modded M3. The shots are about as balanced and clear, but you also get shot body. I still need to do some TDS/EY calcs. The modded M3 workflow is also a snap. To bad you weren't closer (Vancouver area) you'd be welcome to stop by.

Cheers!
Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like a modified M3 would be right up my alley. If only I had that kind of money to drop on a grinder. Frank does spectacular work with his Titus grinders.

And thanks for the invite! If I'm ever in the Vancouver area I'll be sure to get in touch. Alas -- where I live and work(Toronto area), is just a little bit far from the West Coast

That picture is photographically nuanced, balanced and accomplished. Perfect framing and amazing bookeh. :)

Six months in the making, but I finally got the kitchen reno to a point where I could pull the President out of the basement where it was stealing power from the dryer and put it on its perch where it belongs. Some work on the area still needs to be done and we haven't put the artwork on the walls yet, but I'm happy we finally got it to the point where we can entertain guests again.
