Lumberjacks in Love #2

Billionaire Lumberjack's Baby

Rate this book
A wounded billionaire in hiding. A surprise baby. One woman trapped on the mountain with them…

I fled to the mountains to escape the pain of my past.
Anguish ruled my days and haunted my nights.
It became my constant companion.
An ax in my hands became the outlet for my agony.
It was the way I liked it.
The way it needed to be.
No amount of money would ever bring back what I lost.
Nothing could ever heal the scars.
Until a knock at my cabin door brings a feisty new lawyer from my company…
Carrying a tiny, crying surprise she says is mine.
It was one night of solace in the arms of a stranger.
A stranger who claims I’m the father of this child.
I can’t handle a baby.
Or the feelings brought up by the woman assigned to deliver him to me.
I tried to escape my life, but now it’s forcing me to face it—whether I like it or not.

Grab this steamy stand-alone about a damaged billionaire widower, a surprise baby, the young attorney stuck in the middle of it all, and discover what happens when they’re forced together in his cabin with building tension, old wounds…and a tiny human!

Absolutely loved this book. It flowed nicely and characters were well written. While reading it you could picture everything as if watching TV. Can't wait to read more from Gwyn!

Over the years I have been able to read all of Gwyn’s books and none of them had the emotional chokehold like this story did! This book is full of raw emotion to the point that you can’t help but fall in love with Wells and Laurel!

This book was not an easy one! I am pretty sure I cried within the first five pages, but the end result was worth all the tears!

Wells and Laurel will capture you heart! I could not get enough of these two. Even when Wells was a broody jerk I loved seeing his POV because watching him find peace and healing was so cathartic! I felt all of his emotions and felt like I was fighting the battle right along with him! Laurel though, my goodness was she feisty and independent. She didn’t not back down and I loved her grit and that she gave of herself so freely. She is truly one of my fave Gwyn heroines!

This book will definitely have you feeling all the feels but the intensity between these two leads to some spicy scenes that you will want to read again and again!

This is not your average read.

Sad story, but beautifully written and with a great ending.

I enjoyed it only a little less than Brittainy Cherry’s
‘The Air He Breathes.’

It’s in that realm.

I have always loved Gwyn’s books. Each time I think she’s outdone herself, I read the next one and I’m blown away all over again. This book… I honestly don’t know where to begin. *fans away tears * This book had my heart hurting, my tears flowing, laughter breaking through, and finally left me with that warm fuzzy feeling inside. This book was… gut wrenching in its raw emotion. Lordy, Wells was so broken that I wanted to wrap him up and cuddle him. That Laurel came along and was able to break through to his shattered heart was a minor miracle, because holy Hades that poor man was a wreck. I loved all her facets from spunky and feisty, to a little broken but mended inside. She was the perfect compliment to Wells.

Gwyn McNamee has a way with words that sucks you into her characters. Every single emotion they feel? You feel. She has a rare talent that lets her paints the picture so well that you are completely immersed in their world. They’re no longer characters, they are people—real people.

So bravo Ms. McNamee… you have wrecked me in the best way again.

I wasn’t exactly prepared for the emotional upheaval I experienced in Billionaire Lumberjack’s Baby by Gwyn McNamee, but this story blew me away. Only one chapter in and I was hooked; totally captured by Wells and what he had endured to turn him into the angry mountain man ready to trash a car and force intruders back to where they came from. This author continually astounds me. Every genre she ventures into always results in a magnificent story. I dare anyone to read this book and come away with a dry eye. I can pretty much guarantee that Wells’ story will eat you up and leave you sobbing; sometimes with sad tears but also with happy ones.

Wells has lived through some tragedy, some pretty heavy tragedy that may be a trigger for some readers, and it is heartbreaking, but it makes for the most phenomenal story. Author Gwyn McNamee does an amazing job of showing us his turmoil, helping him find his way back to the light when darkness is all he craves. For anyone who has ever grieved, you’ll understand the process is different for everyone. Following Wells on his journey to living again tore my heart out, but in such a good way. I was so ready to feel all the feels as this story unfolded.

Laurel is such an amazing heroine. She’s lived through her own nightmares and survived. She is strong and learned how to move forward and face tomorrow with a brave face. Destiny has placed her in the right place at the right time, and she is suddenly in a position to help a very broken Wells. Her heart is open and ready to be there for him, ready to show him that he deserves to live and love again, and best of all, she won’t let him scare her away or feed her lies. She’s ready to handle everything he dishes out.

There were times in this story where I was a fret; the author wove this tale in a way that had me questioning the motives of people and I feared the worst. As my stomach roiled and my heart beat faster, everything finally came to light, allowing me to breathe again.

Wells and Laurel have a very untraditional meeting, and their getting-to-know-you phase is also out of the norm, but it works for them. It allows the passion to bloom and sexual chemistry to explode. If Laurel weren’t so strong, if she didn’t have a heart of gold, things with the grumpy lumberjack could have went south immediately. Luckily, a little man named Wesley, ties these two together while they figure things out.

I totally recommend this emotional story to those who love a good romance, love a little angst and a lot of tears, or at least a lot of feels if you’re not the crying type.

Laurel can't believe that she has been at the job for less than a week and she is traveling up the mountain in a raging storm. The rain is coming down so hard that the driver can barely see to avoid the huge holes in the rough muddy track they are on. This is not what she signed up for when she joined the legal team for the huge brewery.

The driver started honking the car's horn explaining to her that the owner of the brewery they were going to see didn't like uninvited visitors and it was to let him know they were from Lockwood. If the weather and the circumstances weren't enough to upset her the huge soaking-wet man wearing no shirt and with a threatening ax raised over his head definitely told her she was not having a good day.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This book is so emotional I cried through most of it. Wells is the most broken man I have ever read about. The loss of his wife and daughter and his destructive thoughts are heartbreaking. And to throw in the news that Laurel has been tasked to deliver just adds to the emotion.

Wells was so damaged from the death of his wife that I didn't see how a relationship with Laurel would be possible, but I was so happy that he finally got a happy ending. Highly recommend, but have the Kleenex handy.

Engaging myself in words is a lifeline. Reading books is a necessity. Losing myself in a story is completion. After this book, I’m completed.

Gwyn McNamee has totally floored me. I didn’t know. I wasn’t aware. No one told me the emotional turmoil this author can create with 26 letters, some choice punctuation and the array of voices in her head. The passion, the laughter, the angst, the cheers, the anger, the disgust, the healing, the release, the love.

When Gwyn listened to her hero, he told he was broken, he was torn, he was lost, perhaps unredeemable. And she made Wells all those things but she added a bit more. She helped him find his way out of that dungeon.
And as she conversed with the heroine, she learned she had unsurmountable strength, had clawed her way through the trenches of life, took no prisoners and if she would just give her a chance she could save the hero.

I always put authors in one of three categories…a writer, an author, a storyteller. Gwyn, you are a storyteller.

I haven’t read much by Gwyn McNamee but every book I have picked up I have loved so I really need to check out more of her works as soon as time permits. This is billionaire Wells Lockwood and attorney Laurel Palmer’s entertaining and emotional journey.
Widower Wells has locked himself away in his mountain cabin determined to live the rest of his life alone but when Laurel turns up with a baby that was conceived with a stranger he barley remembers on a one night stand , he finds himself blindsided. From the moment Wells meets Laurel sparks fly and not always in a good way, the attraction is instant, the chemistry intense but he needs someone to bring light to his darkness so is Laurel to woman to make Wells whole again……
This is an emotional read that touched me on s many levels and it’s a journey that will appeal to all romance lovers. This is a book with all the feels, i swooned, I sighed and I felt every emotion with this adorable couple. Looking forward to reading more from this very talented author.

I was not ready for the emotions that I felt within the first 6-7 chapters! Wells is grieving and punishing himself so he’s up on the mountain avoiding people. Laurel just started a new job that she was looking forward to and now that has been hijacked by a delivery up a mountain. Wells and Laurel both have had a lot to deal with in their lives and they are exactly what the other needs even if they don’t realize it to begin with. The emotion in this book is palatable! I started reading it in a waiting room and was trying not to let the tears fall, I closed my kindle and sat there a minute and opened it back up. I couldn’t stop reading I was already so drawn in. This book does deal with grief due to loss of a spouse/child during childbirth so if that’s too emotional for you be forewarned. Get ready for an emotional ride that will have you hanging on until the very last word!

Billionaire Lumberjack's Baby is the second novel in the Lumberjacks in Love series by Gwyn McNamee. It is a standalone novel, 100% standalone from Billionaire Lumberjack, but just as good if not better than the first - so read both, if you haven't already!

Laurel receives the shock of her life on the first day of her job at Lockwood Brewery. The most unusual assignment that turns into more than she was certainly hired for.

Wells Lockwood has barely seen another human since he lived his life's worst tragedy two years ago. Now, on the second anniversary of that tragedy, life just threw him the se ong biggest curveball yet.

I loved Laurel's spunk and ability to stand up to Wells, and I absolutely loved the dynamic between the two! I just didn't want to put down the novel! I cannot wait for the last standalone in the series!

Wells has a devastating past that still haunts him on a daily basis so he lives in seclusion on a mountain where he doesn’t want to see anyone and isn’t about to let anyone past the walls he has built. His life plan was unfolding as he expected until an unexpected visit from a feisty woman with a surprise he never saw coming.

When Laurel accepted her new position at Lockwood Brewery, she never expected one of her first tasks would be delivering a baby that he didn’t know about and wasn’t prepared for. Her past has made her strong and resilient and she isn’t about to let him close himself off from the baby he needs who needs him as well.

This is a story about healing, love and new beginnings as Wells and Laurel take us on emotional journey that will have you hoping that they can find their way to each other and have the happiness they all deserve.

Get ready for an emotional read and have the Kleenex handy. Wells is still grieving the loss of his wife and child and he just wants to live alone on the mountain avoiding people as much as he can. Laurel is a new lawyer at his company who is tasked with the delivery of a special little bundle to Wells and both of their lives take some life changing turns. I absolutely loved Wells's story. He's been through so much pain and heartbreak so him getting a second chance at love had me cheering him on to finally get his happily ever after. Like I said have the Kleenex handy and get ready for an emotional rollercoaster ride that will pull at your heartstrings. Billionaire Lumberjack's Baby is a great addition to the Lumberjacks in Love series and I can't wait to read the next book. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

I'll be honest, this book was so much more than I was expecting. With the title, I expected more of an erotic romance with a little plot. This is proof I should not judge a book by its cover (or title as it may be).
This was a heart-wrenching emotional roller coaster full of turmoil and angst. My heart hurt for the hero who was lost in tragedy and grief, isolated from society, and surviving day by day. The heroine and surprise she brought with her was the tiny ray of hope he needed to finally begin healing old wounds, though it was a long and hard-won fight.
This was my first book by Gwyn McNamee but it won't be my last. Her ability to weave a story laced with so much emotion and heartache kept me turning the pages and craving more. I didn't expect the depth of emotion I would feel reading this book but I'm so glad I took the chance!

What an amazing book!!
Wells Lockwood had everything that he wanted. His dreams and future were coming true until one tragic moment takes everything away from him. The pain, anguish, heartbreak and guilt has destroyed the man that he used to be. Finding solace in his mountain cabin, away from the rest of the world is the only way he can continue to live. He was in his own bubble until the sound of a horn shattered it.
Laurel is given an assignment that she could never have imagined. What was supposed to be a quick transaction turns into something that neither of them saw coming.
This book will shred your heart. You’ll feel the horrific pain that Wells is living in. Their story is full of anger, guilt, pain, hatred, love, and second chances.
Beautifully written with a ton of heat!! What I wouldn’t give to be in that cabin!!

How do you recover from losing the two most important people in your life? So much pain and anguish, hurt, loss, anger, the feeling of not being able to change what’s happened and not able to move forward. Living in a reality built up in your head. Solitude you will never find because of the guilt you feel for something you couldn’t control. When Laurel shows up with a bundle the Wells had no idea was out there, he’s drawn to her and there’s a spark between them and he has no idea what to do with it. Laurel is just what Wells needs, she’s spunky, speaks her mind and it may hit a little close to home for Wells to accept. I could go on, but I don’t want to give spoilers, this story was brilliantly written and I loved it. This is a definite read for 2023.

This is the second book in the Lumberjacks in Love trilogy, and it is a little bit of everything that will keep you glued to your seat as the pages turn. Wells has turned over a new leaf in order to cope with his loss which now sees him living as a recluse in the mountains. Laurel is the sassy new attorney, hired by Lockwood Brewery, who goes up the mountain in search of Wells. When she finally caches up to him, things do not go as planned for her and she uses all of her female power to tame the beast. Overall, this is one rollercoaster ride that gives Wells a swift kick in the rear to rejoin the living. It is filled with drama, twists and turns, emotion and when all is said and done, a feeling of peace as everything falls into place. I recommend this book.

I enjoyed the story. Laurel had found a positive way through her tragic past, just to encounter Wells who was hanging onto his grief in a destructive manner. Helping him cope with the little surprise she brought with her was the one aspect she could control in this situation. I loved how Laurel accepted things, understanding where his pain was coming from, and the possible pain she would experience in staying longer with Wells. He was hurting, saw no way forward, until Laurel helped him heal. The story was a bit too long, but there were warm, steamy, and some sad moments to help the story along.

I received a copy of this through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

This book will give you all the raw and emotional feels. You will even shed a tear or 10.

I was not prepared for what I was about to read. At first I had a love / hate relationship with Wells. Boy that man tested me..lol

Laurel is one strong and determined woman who didn’t give up and FOUGHT for what she wanted.

Once Laurel cracked open Wells you couldn’t help but fall in love with them and the struggles they went through.

This book will make you forget about the outside world and have you turning page after page until you get to the end and you will still want to keep turning the page to find out more.

5 stars all the way

Wells Lockwood is the most broken hero I've read in a long time. Between the fractured relationship with his father and blaming himself for a tragedy he had no control over, the reclusive billionaire lives a life of solitude in the mountains above Denver. That is until Laurel Palmer appears at his front door and turns his world upside-down. Though resistant to acknowledge the reason Laurel is there, with her help, Wells finds himself battling the demons he's been trying to fight alone.

The Billionaire Lumberjacks's Baby is a truly great read. With a broken hero we all seem to be drawn to and feisty heroine who is not afraid to call him out and a chemistry hot enough to heat a cabin.

Wells has been dead inside for two years, when his wife died, he's still hearing her voice in his head. Laurel has been sent from Denver to do a job, she's only just started at Lockwoods and this isn't what she expected!
Wells sends the car back down the mountain without her, insisting she stay to look after his unexpected son.
Laurel has had a particularly bad childhood, and endured lots of horrible things, but managed to work her way through them. Wells has had to overcome the death of his wife and child, both have had to deal with difficult things. By leaning on each other things become better.

A great read from Gwyn

This story had me ugly crying. I felt his grief his unending pain. The angst was killing me! I love when I get this wrapped up in a story.

Laurel was completely out of her environment, but her life journey allowed her to help him. Wells was completely out of his comfort zone with the baby. He feels like it’s his fault, and reading his thoughts were heartbreaking.

I loved that Laurel stood up to him. I loved that even though he was carrying such grief, he saw Laurel from the beginning. I love the surprise baby trope. When Wells first saw him, he knew. I will tell you that I thought we were settled, and then the ending??? OMG! I didn’t see that coming! This book was excellent! Gwyn is one of my favorite authors. I was instantly wrapped up in this one.

An original and angsty story for sure. Have the tissues ready. Talk about an unwinnable, uncompromising, unwilling situation. Wells is our tortured hero, and Laurel is our strong heroine. Broken and unwanted, perfectly describes these characters, and what and how they act weaves them together to make an unbreakable bond between the three. It was a beautiful, heartbreaking story and the characters are lost, but not quite found yet. I loved how their story triumphed in the end, especially with that twist, I never saw it coming.

What an emotional read this was! Wells had a tragedy happen and he has shut himself off from the world. Laurel is a new lawyer at his company tasked with bringing Wells a surprise package. To say he didn't take it well is an understatement. He was horrible to Laurel but she wasn't about to back down. She gave as good as she got. She made him step up helped him get his life back. I really enjoyed reading their journey. It was a hard fought battle to happiness and peace.

Thank you for the privilege of reading this book!

This is the second book in this incredible series, and this is Wells and Laurel’s journey. Wells is so broken and damaged, while Laurel is feisty, and a tad broken. The chemistry between these two is undeniable, and they complement each other perfectly. This is a beautifully written emotional roller coaster, with loss, healing, tragedy, forced proximity, engaging and realistic characters, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, and steamy addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

When I first started this book, I wanted to throttle Wells for the way that he treated Laurel, but as I read on, my heart broke for him!!!
Wells was dealing with so much and then having Laurel show up almost threw him over the edge. Watching them come together and seeing how strong she was, emotionally, made me fall head over heels in love with these characters!!
Thank you for another AMAZING book!!!

Finished this in one sitting. I absolutely love this author. A billionaire lumberjack who, after the loss of his wife and child, recluses himself to the mountain. When the new young company lawyer shows up unannounced with a baby in tow, his whole life is uprooted. He wants to live in his suffering, but she won't let him. They are both stuck on the mountain and she is determined to break him. The baby deserves more than parents who don't want him. This one pulls at your heartstrings!

Thank you Gwen for letting me ARC read this amazing book. The prologue had me hooked and in my emotions. This book had so many shocking moments and in my feelings. I love how Laurel pushes Wells and makes him deal with the issues he has. The character development was so God and made me care for the characters. At the end of the book I wanted to hear more of Laurels and Wells story. The spice and book was so well written.

This book truly had all the feels with its emotional upheaval and am amazing romantic connection. I loved Wells, and Laurel gave a good as she got. Simply a wonderful book! Bravo!

Arriving in the midst of a storm, Laurel brings an unexpected bit of life to Wells' remote life. Wells looks in disbelief as a hot woman steps onto his land and turns his world upside down.

Forcing Laurel to stay with him on the mountain, Wells must learn quickly how to care for a baby. Their lives are a mess and they certainly get worse when decisions need to be made on where they go from here.

Loved it!
