If you haven’t picked up on the trend yet, let me just reinforce that Citrix is working overtime in 2023 to help you go all-in on your hybrid multi-cloud strategy. As we announced earlier this year, we’re significantly investing in features and solutions that provide you with the choice and flexibility to develop your environment how you want it, where you want it, and to integrate with solutions you want.

To that end, we know that many of you are leveraging or considering leveraging Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) hybrid multi-cloud software to simplify IT operations, move to the cloud faster, and lower your on-premises cost of operations. We are excited to announce official support for running Citrix DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops on Nutanix Cloud Clusters on Azure.

The Citrix plugin for NC2 on Azure is available today for early access, and is currently compatible with Citrix Machine Creation Services (MCS). Compatibility with Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) is expected prior to general availability later this year.

While Nutanix NC2 on Azure was previously a Citrix-Ready validated solution, by providing official Citrix support, we’re ensuring customers can move forward with their hybrid multi-cloud deployment plans, and be confident that they’ll have a great support experience if they run into any issues along the way.

Azure support for NC2 comes as a significant extension to previously announced support for Nutanix Cloud Clusters on AWS – a capability shown to help you burst 2,000 Citrix Desktops to AWS in under two hours as opposed to days or weeks!

Why use NC2 with Citrix?

Easily expand on-premises Citrix workloads to the cloud. This is made possible through Nutanix’s native protection and replication capabilities, which enable you to smoothly migrate your Citrix workloads from on-premises Nutanix infrastructure to Nutanix Clusters without refactoring or re-tooling the workloads.

Effortlessly scale with additional nodes. Support thousands of Citrix users in minutes without having to invest in hardware upfront. By starting with just three nodes in the cluster, you can seamlessly expand it to up to sixteen nodes, and then scale it down to any number of nodes that meets your specific requirements.

Save on cloud infrastructure costs. By leveraging the hibernate and resume feature, you can easily put your clusters on hold when the capacity is not required, and quickly resume them when necessary. This automation capability can save on unnecessary cloud consumption costs caused by virtual machines being left “on” by the users along the same vein as when your kids leave the television on when they leave the house.

Experience familiar administrative features. The integration of CVAD or Citrix DaaS with Nutanix Clusters provides Nutanix customers with the same management experience without the need to learn additional tools. The same Prism interface that is used to manage Nutanix on-premises can also be used to manage Nutanix Clusters, allowing for consistency in the management process.

How to get started

NC2 on Azure is currently available for procurement via the Azure marketplace, allowing Microsoft customers to use their Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC). Nutanix customers will also be able to port their existing term licenses to Nutanix Cloud Clusters on Azure or get on-demand consumption of Nutanix software through the Azure Marketplace, enabling frictionless procurement, license and workload portability.

Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) offer a simplified approach to managing your application and data migration, extension, or bursting needs across multiple clouds. With a unified management plan, NC2 enables you to easily manage your Nutanix private cloud, AWS, and Azure infrastructure without added complexity. As a result, you can seamlessly move workloads between clouds and streamline your operations with minimal effort.
