Collective effort needed to tackle inflation, says Annuar Musa

KUALA LUMPUR: All stakeholders must come together and tackle inflation as a collective effort, says Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

In his speech when launching the theme and logo for the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations on Friday (July 1), the Communications and Multimedia Minister said a joint effort should be carried out between government ministries, agencies and industry players to improve the situation in the country.

“All parties, including the government, cannot just sit and operate as if it’s business as usual.

“At the same time, all stakeholders must make a consolidated effort to ensure inflation in the country is at a manageable rate,” he said.

He added that the national inflation rate was at about 2.8% and was one of the lowest in the Asean region.

“This is due to the preparedness of the government to intervene and make crucial decisions to ensure the wellbeing of Malaysians, especially among those from the lower income brackets,” he said.

Annuar added that personal egos should also be sidelined with collaborative efforts between both the government and the Opposition for the sake of political stability.

“Factions and selfish politics must be set aside with coexistence among both sides of the divide being the most important factor now,” he said.

Earlier on Friday, Annuar launched the logo and theme for both National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations this year.

The theme follows the concept of Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama while the logo which resembles Internet connectivity represents infrastructural development, communication systems and expansion of digitalisation efforts.
