Why Jack Welsby and Mark Percival escaped bans for St Helens despite yellow cards

Following the latest round of Betfred Super League fixtures, the Match Review Panel have issued the following sanctions:

Morgan Gannon (Leeds) – Grade C Other Contrary Behaviour – 2 Match Penalty Notice
Matt Prior (Leeds) – Grade B Tripping – 2 Match Penalty Notice
Albert Vete (Hull KR) – Grade B High Tackle – 2 Match Penalty Notice
Jacob Miller (Wakefield) – Grade B Tripping – 1 Match Penalty Notice
Matty English (Huddersfield) – Grade B Dangerous Contact – 1 Match Penalty Notice
Oliver Wilson (Huddersfield) – Grade A Dangerous Contact – 0 Match Penalty Notice
Liam Kay (Wakefield) – Grade A Dangerous Contact – 0 Match Penalty Notice
Kallum Watkins (Salford) – Grade B Dangerous Contact – 1 Match Penalty Notice

The following player was handed a caution:

Albert Vete (Hull KR) – Dangerous Contact

Jack Welsby was sinbinned twice whilst Mark Percival was also handed a yellow card by referee Chris Kendall in St Helens’ narrow 14-10 win over the Salford Red Devils, but neither of them have been charged despite being cited in what will be a huge sigh of relief for Kristian Woolf’s men.

Wigan Warriors will also be suspension-free heading into the Challenge Cup semi-final with Saints.

The same cannot be said of Huddersfield Giants and Hull KR who will both miss key men in their fixture at Elland Road.
