Boston Love #3

Falling for Her

Rate this book
Wes Ward finds himself in new territory. Less than a year ago, he lived in New York City in a fantastic loft that overlooked upper Manhattan. Women in and out of his bed anytime he wanted and not a damn care in the world.

Now?

Now, he finds himself back in Boston plotting ways to stop his high school girlfriend, Mandy, from getting married, dodging his mother's every attempt at helping him settle down, and trying to understand why Clare Monroe makes him forget everything and everyone when she smiles at him.

What is this insane feeling he feels anytime Clare is near him? Why can't he stop thinking about her every second of every day?

And what does he do about Mandy, the woman he fought so hard for who is willing to give their relationship another try right when Wes is ready to admit his feelings for Clare?

This is NOT a love triangle book :)

Falling for Her is a friends to lovers trope and can be read as a stand alone but the author highly recommends you start at the beginning of the series.

This is the 3rd installment of the Authors Boston Love Series.

It's an overall 3.75 read for me. If fake dating, frenemies to lovers, close proximity and an ex in the mix in your vibe this is the book for you.

Wes is the oldest of the brothers and returns to Boston with the aim of winning back her ex who just so happens to be engaged. But as his plans to win her back keep bringing his sister in laws best friend, Clare into his life he starts to question if he actually wants plan his succeed.

This is a really lovely frenemies to lovers connection. Wes and Clare bicker and rib each other everytime they see each other. Wes is a blind fool that doesn't realize just how much he really likes Clare.

We first see Wes as this closed off emotionless man but as his feelings and relationship with Clare develops we really get to see a much more tender and caring side to him

"When I heard the first few chords of the song start, my knees about buckled under me. Wes drew me to him and held me close as we danced to Elvis Presley "can't help but falling in love" 🥰🥹

Overall yet again a thoroughly enjoyable read from Kelly Elliot. Thanks to her and give me books for the ARC

Falling For Her is a standalone romance by New York Times Best-Selling Author, and personal forever favourite of mine, Kelly Elliott. This standalone is part of her Boston Love series, and can be read as a solo read but it is recommended by Kelly to go in series order.

For this series, we're stepping outside the familiar settings, sights and sounds we know Kelly excels herself in. Namely, small-town, cowboy romances. We're on a trip to Boston with three dashing book boyfriends and their leading ladies. Wes is the third one up, completing the set with his and Clare's story.

Before I get down into the bowels of my review, let's talk tropes! Falling for Her has:

-Enemies to Lovers
-Fake Relationship
-Forced Proximity
-Family Saga
-She Falls First
-He Falls Harder

If one or more of those tropes is your kind of thing, then you're in luck! You're going to love the spin Kelly takes on them and where this story will end up. It's quite the emotional adventure, and you're going to need a tissue or two a time or two. My girl Kelly always brings all the feels, and there's more than a plenty packed in here.

Wes Ward, our leading man for this romantic adventure, finds himself in brand new-to-him territory. A little less than a year ago from where the story starts, he was living in New York in a loft which most people would give anything to call theirs--or would dream of calling theirs--, overlooking a beautiful corner of Manhattan. Women of all kinds frequented his bed on a regular basis, and he lived his life without a single care in the world or in fear of life's consequences.

Life, though, has a way of catching up to you. Which Wes is about to find out for himself.

Now finding himself back where things all began in Boston, he's got a new mission and daily goal. To stop his high school girlfriend--and woman who he has hearts popping out of his eyes for--from getting married to her fiancé. At the same time, he's also having to dodge his mother's endless attempts at getting him to find someone to settle down with. The cherry on the cake? Wes for the life of him can't work out why he cannot stop thinking about her . Clare. She makes him completely forget anything currently going on in his mind whenever she's around him. Especially so when she whips out that beautiful smile.

He can't work out the indescribable feeling Clare gives him when she's around, and there's no chance of working out why he's thinking about her every second of every day. A lot of answers to find to an unrelenting amount of questions.

Then, there's Mandy. He knows he has to do something about her as after all, she's the woman he's fought so hard for. Eventually, his persistence pays off and she's willing to give their relationship another chance. Only, this newly presented opportunity comes into his life just at the time where he might just be ready to admit and declare his feelings to Clare.

Fate might just have a humorous side after all.

Sidenote: This is NOT a love triangle book. So no worries to those who don't like that kind of thing in romance novels :)

For anyone knows me and my love for anything and everything Kelly Elliott, knows just how much I admire and adore her cowboys, leading ladies and small-town romances. Stepping into reads like this that give more of a city vibe than a country one, is giving something different a chance. But you'd be surprised at how stepping outside of the norm for even our favourite and OG authors, can make you appreciate and love them/their work just as much as our favourites by them do.

The Boston Love series is something beautifully different to my usual speed and go-to's for reading a Kelly Elliott book, but I'm officially won over with this change. The quintessential reason for why I love this new change of scenery so much is fully down to its author, who can truly turn her hand to anything and I'll be as equally as entranced.

Out of the three books in the series, I have to hands-down say that this one is my favourite of them all. From the she falls first/he falls harder tropes, to the blind-t0-love element with Wes going after the wrong girl, this read just had everything in for me that I love to read from romance novels in general, as well as from Kelly. It ticked all my boxes and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for their next top read.

I'm very proud to have found my 2nd (not no.2 ranked) top read of 2024 with Falling For Her

Enemies to lovers and fake relationship romance, sign me up!

When Wes returns home to Boston, he has one goal: to stop his ex, Mandy's wedding and win her back. So, Wes comes up with the brilliant plan to fake-date Claire to make Mandy jealous. Seems easy enough, right? Except Claire and Wes have always been enemies. This plan can only end up in disaster. But, the more time Wes spends with Claire, the more he realizes she gets under his skin. She has a way of making him forget about everyone and everything. To find out what Wes will do, you're gonna have to pick up a copy of Falling for Her...

Falling for Her was such a fun and entertaining read. I loved the banter between Wes and Claire. It led to some delicious tension and chemistry. The pull between them was strong and even though you know fake relationship scenarios never work out as planned, it was fun to see these two navigate their way through.

Falling for Her is a terrific addition to the Boston Love series and can always be read as a standalone novel. I enjoyed the characters and the setting. It had the perfect balance of romance, steam, and drama. All in all, Falling for Her was a terrific book to spend the day getting lost in.

These two always bickered when they were in each other’s presence. Wes was stuck on trying to win his ex that was engaged to get married and Clare was one his sisters in law best friend that he had no idea always had a crush on him. When Wes came up with the grand idea to get back at his ex he didn’t realize that including Clare was going to hurt her feelings. But she followed along because she wanted to spend time with him. But as time passed feelings started getting involved as much as they were in denial. When Wes finally came to his senses he almost loss the best thing that’s ever happened to him. They finally got their act together and the chemistry was off the charts. The dynamic between them was amazing. His family was funny as always and I can’t wait to read more on them. Wes was also a very good big brother especially to his sister Angie. Can’t wait for her story!!

The third book in the Boston Love series is a really enjoyable fake dating story. Wes returns home with a mission, to stop his ex getting married and to win her back. He needs a plan and that is where Claire comes in. She can pretend to be his girlfriend to make Mandy jealous. Lets just say sparks fly because they have never really got on always winding each other up, so what could go wrong.

I enjoyed the banter between Wes and Claire, all the cutting quips and witty comebacks were like foreplay with these two. The more time they spend together, the more confused Wes becomes. I worried for Claire as against her better judgement she starts to fall for a man who's determined to be with someone else. The story is fun and flirty with the passion between them pitched perfectly for the storyline. I liked seeing the growth of their relationship and how they coped with their changing feelings. For me Wes had a lot to make up for and I enjoyed seeing him rise to the challenge 😉

Book 3 in the Boston Love series is years in the making but one we needed. Wes’ story is everything that we love about Kelly Elliott’s stories. It was typical and an easy read that brought me back to the Boston world she started with Searching for Harmony.

An epilogue that keeps you wanting more - I look forward to the final sibling’s story as I feel it is something the author has never written about!

I absolutely loved Falling for Her, the third book in the Boston Love series! Falling for Her is a wonderful love story, filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions and it was impossible to put it down. I loved every moment on every page. Kelly Elliott definitely did not disappoint her readers with all the feels in Falling for Her and has once again delivered an amazing story filled with everything that I have come to love about her books. She has once again provided her readers with the amazing characters that I have come to love and expect in her books, they feel like family! Who does not love hot sexy men, strong, passionate females, loving families, and caring friends, who always support each other? Falling for Her is the story of Clare Monroe, an executive assistant with the Boston Red Sox and Weston “Wes” Ward, a former investment banker who now works with Finn at the solar energy business. Clare is best friends with Wes’s sister-in-law, Rory, and whenever Clare and Wes are near one another there is animosity. Wes left his job in New York City and relocated to Boston to plot how to prevent his high school and college girlfriend, Mandy Rhodes, from getting married. Clare and Wes are in charge of getting decorations for Wes’s parents, Jennifer, and Mike’s anniversary party. Clare shows up at Wes’s condo as Wes’s hookup from the night before is walking out. After spending time together, Wes asks Clare for a favor and convinces her by blackmailing her with events that happened at Rory and Finn’s wedding to help him get Mandy back. As Clare and Wes begin spending time together fake dating things change between them, especially the cooking class. I love that Wes’s mother keeps trying to set him up with blind dates. Conversation between Clare and Wes flows so easily, with innuendos and playful banter, and Wes constantly flirting with Clare. I love their conversation following Clare’s dreadful date with Alex. I love how Clare nurses Wes back to health when he had the flu on Thanksgiving and how Wes’s mom asks him why he cannot find a girl like Clare. I love all the heart-to-heart conversations that happen in Falling for Her. I love how they snuck into the kitchen at Wes’s parents anniversary party and while eating a caramel cheesecake together, Wes asks her what if they were not pretending to be dating but dating for real. An unexpected car accident has Clare’s parents fighting for their lives and Wes stays with Clare throughout the entire ordeal. A heartbreaking plot twist changes things between Clare and Wes, putting their relationship in jeopardy and she runs away to visit her parents. Make sure you have your Kleenex nearby. I love that no matter how destroyed Wes was with Clare, he did not stop fighting for her love and I love everything that he did to get them back together. I love it when Wes tells Clare when he fell in love with her. I love when they reconciled and everything they talk about and do, especially going to Mike’s Pastry. Falling for Her was an amazing love story, I am so glad that the plot twist is resolved, and that Clare and Wes got the happily ever after that neither one realized they were looking for. I loved all the surprises that filled the pages of this love story. I love the changes that Clare makes in her life so that she can be true to herself and not let her parents run her life. I love the changes that Wes was willing to make in his life, to have a life with Clare. My favorite part is the ending and how it goes above and beyond the happily ever after. I loved Wes’s proposal and everything that he did to make it special. I enjoy all the interactions among all the Ward siblings, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. It was heartbreaking to find out that Rory still has not reconciled with her father, especially after Karleigh was born. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? Kelly Elliott continues to deliver all that and so much more. I love how she always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. Kelly Elliott continues to deliver incredibly written love stories that I LOVE to read and is one of my favorite authors to read. One of my favorite parts of her books is how she incorporates the title of the book and the picture on the cover into the love story. I also loved all the amusing sub-titles for each chapter. I am not sure how she does it, but Kelly Elliott has once again given her readers another remarkable book. Falling for Her is filled with all the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments and plot twists that I have come to love and expect in a Kelly Elliott love story, I especially loved the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Once again Kelly Elliott has proven that she is an incredible storyteller. I love that she writes her stories in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting inside their minds and knowing their thoughts and how they really feel. Falling for Her is an enemies fake dating to lovers love story. I love the descriptions of Boston and the surrounding areas; I love all the descriptions of the settings. I loved catching up with the Ward family, it felt like a gathering among close friends. I loved the epilogue and how it is told from Angie, Wes’s sister’s point of view. Cannot wait to read Angie’s story. Falling for Her is an incredibly written love story, and I loved every moment. Cannot wait to read the other books in the series. Highly recommend this beautifully written story. I received an advanced copy from the author.

FALLING FOR HER is the third instalment in Kelly Elliott’s contemporary, adult BOSTON LOVE romance series focusing on the Ward siblings. This is businessman Wes Ward, and PA Clare Monroe’s story line. FALLING FOR HER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: For fans of this series, the last instalment was released in 2017, so a re-read may be in order.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Clare and Wes) FALLING FOR HER follows the enemies to fake relationship between our story line couple. Clare Monroe is Rory Adams-Ward’s best friend but Clare struggles with Rory’s brother in law, Wes Ward, a man she believes despises the ground upon which she walks. Wes Ward’s love-hate relationship with Clare Monroe is about to get a whole lot more interesting as Wes is hoping to win back his former fiancé, the woman who broke his heart. Blackmailing Clare Monroe to be his fake girlfriend, Wes has no idea the proverbial can of worms he is about to open. What ensues is the building but fake romance and relationship between Clare and Wes, and the potential fall-out as Clare realizes there is nothing fake about the heart break she is about to entail.

The world building focuses on Wes Ward’s obsession to win back his former fiancé, and in doing so stop the ex’s impending wedding but Wes is about to pull an innocent woman into his fraudulent scheme, a woman whose heart he is going to destroy.

The relationship between Wes and Clare is an enemies to friends to lovers relationship in which Wes is desperate to make his ex-fiancee jealous, using our story line heroine in the process. Clare knows that Wes is using her to win back another woman but it is too late for Clare when Wes gets what he has always wanted. The $ex scenes are passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language ang text.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Wes’ siblings: Angie, Finn and Rory, Preston and Harmony, and their daughter Presley, and as well as their parents. We are introduced to Wes’ ex Mandy, as well as Clare’s brother Tim, and their parents. Angie’s story is next.

FALLING FOR HER is a story of secrets and lies, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the characters are desperate and charismatic; the romance is seductive.

Shannan – ☆☆☆☆
FALLING FOR HER is the third installment in the Boston Love series. It can be read as a standalone without issue, but I warn you if you do that, you will, in fact, be adding the first two in the series to your to-be-read list immediately.

Wes comes back to Boston to stop is ex, Mandy, from getting married. Making her jealous seems to be a great plan and fake dating Clare, his sister-in-law’s best friend, seems like a perfect match. The more time he spends with Clare, he isn't so sure stopping Mandy is the best idea. Clare and Wes bicker and fight every time they are together but something about her draws him in in ways he never expected.

The banter between Clare and Wes was on point! I couldn't get enough of them. I so enjoyed watching him fall for her. Fake dating isn't my favorite trope, but this one is done very well. They have great chemistry overall.

I can't wait for what's next!

Wes, returns to Boston with the intention of stopping his ex-girlfriend from making a huge mistake and to have another chance with her. In order to do this, he offers his long-time nemesis Clare to be his fake girlfriend. Well, things didn't go according to plan, didn't they?

I could see from the beginning that both Clare and Wes liked each other. Under all of that pretend hate, there was a strong attraction. I understood why he wanted to get his girlfriend back, but I don't understand why he was fighting about his feelings towards Clare for so long. To me, bringing back the ex was a waste of time. I think he mostly liked the illusion of how things were before they broke up. He thought once he had Mandy again everything would be the same. He was so confused, and it took a really long time for him to see that Clare was the right woman for him. He needed to man up and face his feelings.

Clare, oh god, Clare. She was sweet, smart and strong. Even though she hated Wes, she wanted to do the right thing and help him. But with time, she couldn't help herself falling in love with him. After time, she sees that Mandy is not the woman for Wes, but she was afraid to admit her own feelings. Even in front of herself. But for once in her life she knew that she deserved better... She deserves to be loved.

These two fit so perfectly together. The sizzling attraction surrounding them was off the charts. Every single banter was like foreplay. Thankfully, Wes realized on time that he was making a mistake. I was very satisfied with his groweling skills.

Overall, I liked reading "Falling for her".

When Wes Ward learns that his ex is about to tie the knot he has this incessant need to make sure she doesn't take that walk. He wants her back... that is until he starts spending more and more time with his sister in-laws best friend Clare Monroe. Every time she is near nothing else seems to hold his attention, and he likes the feeling more than he cares to admit.

Falling for Her is a captivating friends to lovers romance that is destined to leave you smiling. The minute these two wander onto the page you will be intrigued, they have this thing brewing between them that is hard to ignore. With each interaction that follows this thing just intensifies and the more Wes wants to chase it. Clare is the first woman to ever captivate his full attention and he wants to follow her to the ends of the earth to know everything about her... there is just one catch first he must figure out what to do with his ex Mandy.

From beginning to end this one kept me entertained and smiling, these characters were perfectly drawn and had this relatable quality to them that made them feel real. Once I met them I didn't want to let them go! If you like friends to lovers romances I have no doubt this one will check all the boxes for you, it's words were emotive, heartfelt and wickedly captivating! Highly recommend!

Falling for Her by Kelly Elliott is a captivating standalone romance that delves into the intricate dynamics of love and relationships. The story, part of the Boston Love series, follows a heartfelt journey that is both heartwarming and heartbreaking, filled with poignant moments and unexpected twists. Elliott's storytelling shines through the first-person narrative, offering a deep dive into the emotions and experiences of the main characters.

The author's ability to craft a narrative that is both engaging and emotionally resonant is truly commendable. The characters are well-developed, with Clare standing out as a feisty and strong-willed protagonist who adds a refreshing dynamic to the story. The banter between Clare and Wes is delightful, adding a layer of humor and authenticity to their relationship.

Elliott's writing style draws readers in, creating a compelling narrative that keeps you invested from start to finish. The progression of the romance between the characters is beautifully portrayed, with a perfect balance of passion, emotion, and depth. The story unfolds in a way that is both realistic and heartwarming, making it a truly enjoyable read.

Overall, Falling for Her is a must-read for fans of romance novels, offering a blend of love, drama, and heartfelt moments that will leave you wanting more. Kelly Elliott has once again delivered a captivating story that tugs at the heartstrings and leaves a lasting impression.

Rom-com at its finest. This is my first book in the series and I had a blast reading it.
Wes and Claire have a love/hate relationship. Their banter was hilarious and at times it was breaking my heart while he was still fixated on his ex. The plan to get his ex back might have started out as that, but spending quality time with Claire as soon as Wes’s questioning everything he thought he knew. But by the time he understood his feelings, his ex showed up and derailed all his work. After some wallowing he goes with his all to win his dream girl back.

Claire has had a thing for Wes for a while. When he came to her for help to win his ex back, she was reluctant but went along with it. But keeping her feelings at bay proves to be harder than she thought. And just when she thought he wanted her, his ex showed up and all the insecurities came out and for a moment everything came crashing down.
But loving someone is a powerful thing and when they finally talk and lay it all on the table, they realize that they're each other’s HEA.

I'm so excited to see how Wes's sister (Angie), maneuvers with her love life and gets her HEA. It is fall yet?

Kelly Elliott brings us back to a favorite series, the Boston Love where if you not a Red Sox fan you are now in Claire Monroe well bad list and might be hated. We have the Ward family and loved seeing Rory and Finn but Wes now he is the one worth waiting for. Wes is the serious one, went after a big career in the city to come back home to well get his old love back. Then we have Claire Monroe, the friend that will do anything for a friend even if it means losing her heart to a lost cause. These two are perfect, not just so many things in common though they argue there is tons of chemistry right from the start.Loved seeing Wes go all jealous one minute and trying to figure out who he really wants was just hillarious. Claire now is the type of woman who is just like all of us wanting that Hallmark kind of love that just sweeps you away.Seeing these two go from somewhat enemies to friends to something they never expected just shows real true romance by Kelly Elliott. Not only does we see the Ward brothers but we see Angie, only girl in the family and boy can't wait to see her story come to light. Kelly Elliott once again doesn't disappoint and the Boston Love series is one you have to read. Awesome!!

5 They’ve Never Felt Like This Stars!!

I absolutely loved this enemies to lovers book which is the third book in Ms. Elliott’s Boston Love series. Wes is a man on a mission when he returns to Boston to stop his high school sweetheart from getting married. Who else better to help him with this plan than his “enemy” Clare. However things don’t go as planned!

These two have known each other for years, but there’s always been this little bit of a vibe that clearly says they’re not friends so when Wes finds himself thinking about Clare in ways he never thought he would, it’s quite a surprise to him. Clare is a woman that’s not necessarily looking for love so when Wes wanders back into town and they come up with the plan to stop Mandy from getting married, her sassiness came out in full force with the wonderfully witty banter between these two. I found myself snort laughing a time or two.

As these two spend more and more time together, it became apparent something was afoot and having a front row seat for their romance made my heart so happy. Their chemistry became palpable and the heat between them was sizzling. The way their love built and became something neither of them thought was possible surprised them but in all the best ways. Theirs is a forever love and we as the readers got to go with them on this wonderful journey!

So excited Kelly brought this series back! After reading the first two books in this series, I was captivated, and I’m so happy that she is continuing these stories and characters! This installment focuses on Wes, who has moved back home after spending the night with his ex-girlfriend because he realized he wants her back, only to find that she’s engaged and has moved on. Determined to win her back, he moves back and will do anything to get her back, including using Clare. Clare can’t stand Wes, and the feeling is mutual, with them always bickering when they’re around each other, but it seems that the reason they can’t stand each other is because they’re attracted to each other. As they spend time together, Wes can’t understand why he finds himself developing feelings, and Clare acknowledges her feelings for him but feels he would never be into her because of how in love he is with his ex-girlfriend. These two had quite a wild ride, and I thought Wes was absolutely crazy for his plan, but thankfully his feelings for Clare were stronger and he was able to see who his ex-girlfriend truly was. Can’t wait to see who comes next!

Wes, you big dumb dummy. I get it. You’re confused. You think you want one thing because it feels mean to admit the truth. But being mean to the person who you’re fighting your heart over isn’t the way to go. Nor is “encouraging” her to go along with your plan in underhanded ways. But that’s okay because you’re a guy trying to hide from feelings. Then you let them in and realize exactly what you want, only to be thwarted by cruelty personified. You do learn how to grovel though, and it’s a good thing. It’s a good grovel. And your communication skills are second to none once you stop pretending. So okay, you were dumb. But you learn fast enough and are now smart enough to never let your true love go.

Clare, I like you from jump. You’re so…real. The insecurities. The hope that you’re afraid to hope. The feelings you wish you didn’t have to have. And the mean girl you have to deal with? Ugh. She’s awful. But you’re also smart and strong and unwilling to be used and abused. So you’re who we all want in our lives. And you also don’t hold a wicked grudge for too long. More like for just the right amount of time and effort. You deserve this happiness and I love it for you!

This is such a great read.

I love Wes! He’s the oldest of the Ward brothers and has a lifestyle in NYC that most would envy. However, when he finds himself back in Boston, attempting to stop his high school girlfriend from marrying his world turns upside down when he fake dates Clare Monroe to make his ex jealous. Clare is feisty, and not afraid to speak up for herself and I loved her character. She keeps Wes on his toes and the banter between the two is exceptionally written.

I love the stories and characters Kelly Elliott writes. She creates people that are real and I can easily make connections to. There are so many layers in this book. This story had many layers and caused so many emotions as I read. Wes didn’t always do the right thing or realize what his actions would cause, but the balance from Clare is perfect. I enjoyed the Ward family and am looking forward to Angie’s story (talk about feisty). Overall this is another wonderful story written by a phenomenal storyteller. It is the third in the series, and if you started here, go back and read the first two, you will love them.

Wow! I didn’t think this series could get better, but Wes and Clare sure did have me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Wes was either in denial for a long time or he was truly clueless to his own feelings. I believe he was in denial. From the first interaction between them, you could sense an underlying tension between them. Clare, at first, came off as very judgmental and I wasn’t sure about her.

As the book went on, Wes had me hoping he would dig his head out of a certain area more than a few times, as well as shaking my head at him. I wish Clare would have been honest with him earlier, even though I understood why she wasn’t. Him actually wanting his ex back struck me as odd, until it was explained (very vague but I don’t want to spoil the story).

Throughout his scheme to get his ex back he and Clare grow closer and just when things are looking good, he finally gets what he wanted. Whether he still wants that or something new remains to be seen. Whether Clare gives him the chance to talk will also leave you holding your breath.

Way to go Kelly. You knocked this one out of the park. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Close knit family/friends
Fake Dating
Friends to lovers

This book was just the binge I read I needed to get out of my funk. Hours were spent on the couch and tissues were required to get through Falling for Her. Kelly just has a way with pulling at those heart strings. Which is also why if she writes it I will be consuming it.

Wes and Clare's story is both funny and sweet and will bring some tears into the mix. Wes is moving home to find his way back to his high school sweetheart, who just so happens to be getting married to another guy. Of course Wes feels there is still something there after their one night together a year ago so he is going to shoot his shot. Only he has to come up with a game plan that will win her over. In comes Clare his sister in law's bestie and the woman who seems to dislike him. But hey a little bickering may just make this whole thing more fun. Anyways Wes decides to rope in Clare and begs her to be his fake girlfriend, obviously she is like no thank you. But some how some way they continue to show up at the same places as the ex and well then she caves. Only there are sparks that can't be denied or can they?

3.5. I wanted to like this book more, I’ve read almost everything by the author but it just felt like some inconsistencies.

In the first two chapters we learn Clare doesn’t have a car she just Ubers or walks everywhere so she needs Wes to take her shopping for decorations. While shopping, they go to Hobby Lobby where Wes is so excited. He buys a tree he’s going to have delivered and Clare remarks how great it’ll look in his apartment. But then a few chapters later the holidays come up and Wes remarks he doesn’t have a tree because he goes to his parents house for the holidays and doesn’t see the point. Then towards the end of the book he buys a tree to decorate to win her back.

Clare didn’t have a car to go shopping but then a few chapters later has access to her bosses car whenever she wants. So why didn’t she go to hobby lobby on her own with her bosses car?

Then there’s just a few pages in the middle of the book where “Mandy” becomes “Mindy”

Overall the story was cute and happy to see how they came together. The flow was just pretty ruined with the editing to make it that enjoyable to get into.

Wes Ward moved back to Boston after living less than a year in upper Manhattan working as a stock broker. His girlfriend, Mandy, broke up with him after he proposed because she didn't want to leave Boston and her family business. Now he finds himself plotting ways to win her back and stop her wedding, but Clare Monroe makes him forget the plan and he just wants to spend time with her.

From the first time Clare met Wes they bickered constantly. She cannot believe she fake dated Wes to get his ex-girlfriend back but she actually has fun with it. I mean will he see her for who she is?

This was fun book. I really enjoyed the bickering at times it was funny and the outings they had together were fun. I feel that Wes really grew over the course of the book, in the beginning we see him as closed off but once he opens up we see a completely different side. Fall for Her was a beautiful love story and full of laughs.

Highly Recommend.

I love everything that Kelly Elliott writes. Falling for Her is the 3rd book in her Boston Love series. This a beautifully written friends to lovers story with an HEA although I do recommend starting with the first book to get a better feel for all the characters.

Wes had recently moved back home and is wanting to get back with his high school sweetheart who is preparing to get married. He decides to convince his sister in laws best friend Clare to help.

Clare has always had a love/hate relationship with Wes and even though she is knows he is making a huge mistake trying to get his ex back she goes along with his plan. They more these two spend together the more their feelings for each other change. Will Wes decide to continue his plan to get back with his ex or will he finally realize Clare is the perfect girl for him?

I loved the connection between Wes and Clare. The back and forth banter was so much fun to read. It was fun catching with with the other characters from the series. I can't wait for the next one from Kelly!!

Playboy Wes heads back to Boston, his hometown to stop his ex, Mandy, from getting married. She was his high school girlfriend and has always been his "one that got away." To win Mandy back and make her jealous, Wes convinces his old frenemy, Clare, to fake date him. Welp, take one guess how that works out for him...

I liked the frenemy-to-lover vibe between Wes and Clare. They had great banter, and I loved how snarky they got with each other. Wes is a bit closed off at first, but we get to see him open up as he spends more time "fake dating" Clare. And even though it was his mission to win back Mandy, he can't get Clare out of his mind. I actually enjoyed seeing how confused Wes was about his feelings for both women, and how he worked through all that.

Falling For Her has all the tropes I love and enjoy. However, I should have heeded Kelly Elliott's recommendation that this series be read in order. Even though Falling For Her is a standalone, I felt a bit lost at times since this series is new to me.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Awesome Romance
Clare does not know if she likes Wes Ward or despises him. From the moment they met he has been nothing, but a pain. Smart remarks, wickedly handsome face, arrogant and a body to die for. And the way he looks at her sometimes has her questioning everything. One minute he is hot and the next cold. One moment he is flirting the next he is insulting her. Wes has convinced himself the he is still in love with his ex-girlfriend and that he wants her back even though she is engaged to someone else. He blackmails Clare to help him make it happen. Clare knows this can only end badly. Kelly Elliot has given us an enjoyable enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romance. The road Wes and Clare take to find their HEA is an entertaining and emotional one with lots of intriguing spins of drama to make a great fake relationship read. The epilogue is a great lead up to Book 4 in Kelly’s “Boston Love” series. Can’t wait to read it.
I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

FALLING FOR HER is the third installment in the Boston Love series. It can be read as a standalone without issue but I warn you if you do that you will in fact be adding the first two in the series to your TBR to be read immediately.

Wes comes back to Boston to stop is ex, Mandy, from getting married. Making her jealous seems to be a great plan and fake dating Clare, his sister-in-laws best friend seems like perfect match. The more time he spends with Clare he isn't so sure stopping Mandy is the best idea. Clare and Wes bicker and fight every time they are together but something about her draws him in in ways he never expected.

The banter between Clare and Wes was on point! I couldn't get enough of them. I so enjoyed watching him fall for her. Fake dating isn't my favorite troupe but this one is done very well. They have great chemistry overall.

I can't wait for what's next!

I was given a free copy of this book.

This is the 3rd installment of the Boston Love series but could be read as a standalone without feeling lost. We get a book full of witty banter, unexpected emotions and a meddling family to bring this enemies to lovers, fake relationship book to life.

As Wes is determined to win back his ex, he needs to get creative. Why not hook your brothers wifes best friend in to help you. The more time these two who are normally bickering at one another spend together the more they realize they actualy enjoy each others company. Is it possible that bickering was like the grade two crush we all remember so well?

Grab your copy and see if Wes is successful with his mission or if maybe his mission might change course.

I'm enjoying this series and excited for the next book. Ms Elliott as usual claimed my attention from the very beginning and held me lost in her world.
