While it was definitely lazy not taking the TV down, that's a temporary wall that would have been put up because there's construction happening on the other side.
i mean they put so much work into cutting the temporary wall so perfectly so as to go around a TV... surely it would have been less work to just unmount it?
It looks like a public space like a subway station or bus terminal - it was probably an issue of someone realizing that the TVs are handled by a different department, and taking one down required a bunch of phone calls and getting an approved tech out to remove it, at which point cutting the hole is likely easier/faster/cheaper.
fair point. lol props to the construction dudes then.
He gets paid by the hour.
No this looks like someone who gets paid to get the job done. Otherwise, they would have waited for the red tape permission to get the TV unmounted.

That sub makes me sad because more people should post on it.

I was just going to point that out... It seems like someone was just too lazy to try and unmount then remount the TV.
thats what you get when you treat your subcontracters like shit and don't have projectmanagement. the drywaller isn't being paid to take down and move a tv. he may try to point out the issue but at the end of the day the boss tells him 'put up the drywall like i told you to' so he does.
yeah, i'd do the same. like "you wanted a wall, you got a wall, bitchhh"
I mean it only takes a minute and tape measure. A lot less effort than unmounting and then remounting a tv.
yup this one was definitely filed under "not my fucking job" by the contract company.
Dude have you ever unmounted a TV? It's a complete pain in the ass. So much so that I decided to no longer mount my TV after the third year in a row of having to unmount it because I was moving.
Well if you fit the drywall tight like that, it's much easier for the taper to do a good job. The secret to getting steady work in the trades is to always be thinking about how to make the next guys job easier. Sure you might spend a bit more time but that sense of pride in your work is what makes work a pleasure rather than something to be endured.
The worker's need to watch something, too.
I used to hang drywall. This wouldn't take 60 seconds extra. Taking that TV down would be at least 5 minutes and you got to find a place to keep it because now it can be easily walked off with.
The ultimate Halo split screen fix.
I saw something similar at the O'Hare airport. Apparently everything is so unionized, that if the union that puts up walls moved the TV, the union that moves TVs would be pissed.
English isnt my first language
It took me a while to figure out what you meant by stuff not having any ions
Un-ionized
In that case it would be "de-ionized".TIL. :)
nope (see etymology 2) https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/unionized
I'm trying to cut down on my TV watching.
next level competitive split screen gaming
For every problem there is an idiot solution.
Make it fool proof, and they will build a better fool.
"Let's just put a TV here"
More importantly your gym plays awesome music.
It's fun how there's someone pointing at Jazzy Jeff from the other room.
I feel like this is a product of the owner not paying the contractor enough to take more time for details or logistics. Or the owner was too hard to work with so when the contractor was putting up a wall and noticed a TV was there he probably said to himself "aw fuck it, it'll take too much effort to argue about relocating this tv". He built his wall, collected his money (cause he knew the owner is too lazy to check the work), and got the fuck out of there, also knowing he'll never have to interact with that owner again
