Blooming Lasagna Bread Bowl

Ingredients

Bread Bowl

  • 1 large store-bought bread bowl

Bolognese

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • for the ground beef:
  • 1 stick celery, finely diced
  • 1 small carrot, finely diced
  • 4 fluid ounces dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 12 ounces tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine

Garlic Butter

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • small small handful flat leaf parsley, finely chopped

Assemble

  • 8 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup parmesan, plus 3/4 cup to garnish
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • 5 ounces thinly sliced mozzarella

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Cut a circle in the center of the bread and remove, setting the top aside for later. Cut a larger circle around the center, and then gently cut down around the edges of the bread to create petals.
