This story took me by surprise from the very beginning and did not stop surprising me until the end. I pulled my notes out a couple of days ago so I could write my review and my review never materialized. Reason? I just can’t find the words to critically review this story, that is, tell you the good and not-so-good of it all. *sigh* For me, there just wasn’t that much good. However, it’s not because the storyline was unrealistic, or I couldn’t relate to it at some level or even because it wasn’t believable. It just simply was not developed at any level. The bones to an outstanding heartfelt story are there but …
SPOILER ALERT (maybe)

When I finished reading this story, the first thing that came to mind was that it read like an outline. Plot points happened but were never fleshed out. The romance journey was nonexistent. When exactly did Nevin & Luna date or get to know each other? One minute they’re hate-kissing and the next they’re moving in together and and and … what just happened?! And in between all that, there’s Chad … This plot point was just dropped into the story and … why? Again, underdeveloped.

I wish this was one of those times where I say it’s a me thing but facts are facts and as I mentioned at the beginning of my review, the bones are there for this story, they’re just not attached to much *shrug*

This is my first experience with a Chelle Bliss book written at this level. It isn’t going to stop me from moving forward with all her stories in the future because one book does not an author *make* and she’s already proven her worth many times over with her exceptionally written stories. Lastly, I hate ratings in situations like this because most sites do not follow the same description for each rating. That being said, since this is Goodreads and it allows me to review without rating, that is what I’m doing.

5 star Review Scorch (Men of Inked: Heatwave #10) by Chelle Bliss
AUDIO REVIEW:
I love this series. This time Luna Gallo and Nevin Walsh are front and centre and what a story they have to tell. After being released from prison, for a crime he didn’t commit, Nevin is adrift, not know where he fits now. I really felt for him, so much has changed.

Luna being Luna has decided to help him find his feet now that he has been released. What starts off as a simple gesture quickly morphs into so much more. I adored Luna, she is loyal, feisty and sassy and poor Nevin doesn’t stand a chance once she sets or mind to helping him.

Can Nevin come to terms with the past and give himself permission to find love and happiness with Luna? Or will his need to protect himself destroy their chance at happiness?

Lance Greenfield and Samantha Brentmoor brought Devin and Luna to life for me. In my opinion they were well suited to the characters and did justice to the wonderful story that Chelle Bliss wove. Their voices are pleasant, easy to listen to and they drew me in with their performances.

Have you been dying for Luna's story too?!?!? I was so excited to finally get her book and while it wasn't as spicy as Chelle usually writes it hit all the feels for sure!

Luna is the sassy, independent Gallo twin who always seems to find trouble but she absolutely will not back down, she'll stand her ground heels and all. Nevin has not by any means had an easy life; in fact, his life has been hell until his brother changes everything.

It's always eventful revisiting the Gallo family and this story was no exception. I LOVE the text banter between the cousins, Fran's shenanigans and how the family took Nevin in and treated him as one of their own. Another great edition to the Men of Inked: Heatwave series!

Luna and Nevin😍

Scorch is Luna and Nevin’s story and it’s amazing to once again be welcomed into the Gallo family❣️This family is ALL heart and that includes protecting those they care about with a passion, which is definitely not something Nevin has experienced in his lifetime. His past led to him protecting someone he loved and because of this and a corrupt system, he spent a decade in prison for a crime he did not commit😢

Luna is the wild Gallo twin, who seems to either find trouble or it finds her, but when she promises her best friend to look after his brother and help him acclimate to being back out in society, she realises she has her work cut out for her😳

A fantastic story that I devoured and definitely leaves me wanting more😁 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

Nevin's out of prison for a crime he didn't even commit. He's not sure what life will be like for him now, but when Luna Gallo made a promise to Nevin's brother, who happens to be her best friend, it irrevocably changes him and his life. Now he's in her and her family's orbit and nothing will ever be the same.

Luna's a sassy, feisty, amazing trouble magnet. She doesn't care about her own safety, but she definitely cares about the people in her circle. So when her best friend makes a hugely sacrificial choice, it means she makes a promise to him. A promise to take care of his brother. She never reneges on her promises, so that means she's about to become Nevin's new best friend. Now it's just up to him to accept it, well, he doesn't have a choice because she's a tornado. A beautiful, loving tornado that he can't resist. But will he be able to protect her the way he promised her very scary father he would when more trouble comes her way?

I LOVE Luna and Nevin!! She is absolutely the very best part of her own story with her crazy antics, and her big, loving heart. Of course Nevin was no match for a Gallo determined to befriend him, but it was amusing reading as he tried to resist. Nevin had never had anyone like Luna in his life, or like her family, and it made me tear up a little as they brought him into their large, loving circle. Now I'm really waiting impatiently for Trace's story, Torch.

Scorch is yet another winner in the ever-expanding Galloverse. Chelle Bliss worked through the struggles with the tough last two years to give us one hell of a story featuring the feisty Luna Gallo who will stop at nothing to get through to the grumpy and closed-off Nevin Walsh. I love that these long-suffering Walsh brothers are getting their time in the sun, competing with the wild Gallo crew, their former neighbors when they were all kids. Nevin took the fall for something his brother Ian did long ago and now that he is back in society, who better than Ian's best friend to ease him forward?

Luna is a determined woman, no doubt her father's daughter. The way she manages to get under Nevin's skin was great to watch. She is such a good soul and although it's apparent there is a mutual attraction between her and Nevin, everyone around them, especially twin sister Rosie and her husband Dylan Walsh, warned both against getting involved. Not to mention Nevin not wanted to hurt his brother Ian by being with his girl.

Thank goodness, however, that Luna doesn't listen to anyone, even her twin when it comes to matters of the heart. With the help of a hurricane, let's just say Nevin had his own force of nature to contend with as he and Luna weather not only the storm brewing outside but the one in their very souls. These two are perfect together and there were many tender moments between them that were truly beautiful and heartfelt. I loved that Luna was able to break through Nevin's stubbornness and fear and make him realize just how special a man he was.

Of course, no book would be complete without a bit of humor from dear Aunt Fran and the rest of this loving, crazy, and wonderful Gallo crew. I will never get enough of their antics, their witty banter, and the use of the f-bomb almost nonstop. Nevin found love when he least expected it, and with a Gallo woman no less. But he and Luna bring out the very best in one another and in the end you honestly cannot do better than that.

I will forever be a fan of the Gallos and look forward to cousin Trace's book next. Bliss has done a great job giving us these next-generation love stories and I am there for all of them! But in the meantime, I happily give Scorch a solid 5 stars!!!

Nevin is about to learn what it is like to be free. Going to prison when he was 18 years old he doesn't know what to expect when he gets out. What he doesn't expect is for his brother to go in his place and well that is an adjustment in itself. When he meets his brother's best friend Luna sparks do fly, however, he won't act on it out of respect for his brother. Luna is so spunky I just love her. She is bound and determined to show Nevin that he has a family even if he doesn't think he does. Luna is about to break his walls can he show her the love she deserves? If you have read Chelle before you are already in love with her stories. This one will be no different.

Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved Luna and Nevin! Their story is just amazing. But most of all, I loved Luna's character so much. She's so sweet, so amazing. She totally breathes a new life into Nevin as he navigates his new life after prison. The changes and growth in Nevin are apparent. And it's all because of her. And their chemistry! They're just so hot and amazing together.

When it comes to the Gallos, they will always take care of family. Whether they are blood Gallos our married into the family, The Gallos live for loyalty and family.

Welcome to Men of Inked: Sorch #10 in the heatwave series. Nevin protected his family. He gave 10 years of his life behind bars for a crime his borgee commuted.

Luna Gallo is 1/2 of the "Gallo Twins" . Nevin is his best friends brother, her sister's husband's brother, he is Nevin Walsh, and Luna wants to be his fixer.

Sit back a read another Gallo gem. The love story us amazing. And back by popular demand...the Cousin's inappropriate group texts, Aunt Fran feeling up Kevin, Tam calling Mammoth..Josiah, and City (Joe Gallo) give up his last daughter to a man.

I knew I would LOVE Luna... But I didn't expect to love Nevin as much as I did.

Nevin is trying to get back into society and learning how to interact with people. And the perfect person to help him is Luna!

Luna is the spitfire in the family and she brings it. She does not back down... I love her for that.
Nevin is AMAZING, I wasn't sure about him at first... But that changed pretty quickly. You will love him too!

I love this family and every book that I read I love them more!! The banter in this book is EPIC! I love a book when you can laugh and then still feel all the feels!!

Now to wait for the next one....

Scorch men of Inked: Heatwave series book 10 is phenomenal.
Chelle Bliss captivates us with this unusual Edition to her heatwave series. She brings so many emotions to the table with this one. While reading this amazing story she gives us the familiarity of the family we have grown to love the Gallos and gives us a new addition into the amazing world that she has created for us throughout the years.

Some may ask what's so unusual about this one. Well, Chelle Bliss is exceptional at bringing in the spice when we enter her worlds she creates for us. Scorch has spice but in a different way. She's brought us a Slow-Burn Romance that will burn you deep into your soul. The fireworks that are clearly present between our two main characters is explosive.

This story revolves around Luna Gallo. She's the youngest of City aka Joseph Gallo. She's the firecracker, the wild child and the most Headstrong of his children. She doesn't go looking for trouble but trouble certainly finds her. She's feisty and fierce. Not a timid or weak woman in any way shape of form. She's the wild and unruly Wan with the heart of a Saint.

When her life gets turned upside down and she has to come to terms with having to let go of someone so close to her she is out of her comfort zone. She's determined to keep her promise though no matter what.

Nevin is not use to being around caring and thoughtful people. He's trying to adjust to the new life he's given. He's a loner and is withdrawn. He's use to only depending on himself and that's a hard habit to break. Especially after doing time for a crime he didn't commit. Nevin is trying to find his way again and doesn't want anything from anyone other than to be left alone.

Luna is having none of that! She's going to keep her promise to her best friend weather it annoys Nevin or not. She's persistent and stubborn as the day is long. She's pulling all the stops to get him to realize he's not alone and he's not a bad guy, no matter how hard he tries to prove her wrong.

They both need each other no matter how hard they want to prove they can take care of themselves.

The sparks are there. Their romance starts out as ambers of a flame that have been slowly coming to life and turn into a fire so fierce it will Scorch you from a mile away!

Luna and Nevin's story is filled with everything from heartache to happiness. It is also filled with the comical banter we've loved between the whole Gallo Clan.

The family is all here in Chelles new Scorching story that will leave your heart sizzling for more!

I am so in love with this family. They take care of each other. Each story gets better and better. I cannot put them down. Once I start reading, I never want to stop.
Navin has spent the last 10 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Now he is out but can he fit back into society. His life before prison was a life you would not wish on your worst enemy. His parents failed him as well as society, law enforcement, the legal system. Nothing helped him or his brothers when they asked for help against an abusive father. His mother ran off leaving him and his brothers with a monster who definitely did not deserve the title of father. The abuse he inflicted on these boys was horrendous. No one came to their rescue. They took matters into their own hands and Navin paid the price.
Now that he is out, Luna makes a promise to Ian to help Navin find his way. She is a tough cookie. She has been brought up with a loving family who would do anything for you. She never knew what it was like to grow up like Navin and his brothers did. A simple thing like real cheese or even popcorn was something she took for granted. Especially when she heard of what it was like for Navin and his brothers.
But Luna didn’t give up on him. She brought him into her family and showed him what family, love and protection were. She showed him what a good life is. That didn’t mean having money and possessions. It meant having people that would always be there for you. People you could count on and who would be there for you no matter what.
Chelle Bliss is such an amazing author. Reading this series brings back so many memories for me growing up with the Sunday “Family dinners.” I could never get enough of this family. I wish they never end. Cannot wait for more.

If Nevin doesn’t make you fall head over heels for him before chapter three, give him another chapter or two. He’s been through the worst of the worst for a decade. All for something he didn’t even do. And he’d do it again, too. Heck, he’s mad that he didn’t get to finish his time because then it would maybe truly be behind him and his brothers. But Ian couldn’t allow the lies to stand, so get ready for the rollercoaster of life, Walsh style!

Luna is a tad impulsive, but we already knew that. And she’s got a huge people-pleasing streak in her that she’s determined to share with Nevin. He needs some friendship and maybe more, but when everyone seems to judge everything about both of them, it’s hard to even want to be around family. But that same family makes their worries known, as well as the reasons behind them, so it’s hard to stay angry for too long. And honestly, Nevin does need someone in his corner. He’s back in a world that changed while he was in a cage. He’s got to find a way forward. And boy, does he blow me away when it comes to Luna. He knows how to make her melt, and burn in anger, and how to apologize, and how to grovel when needed, and he proves that he is an incredibly fast learner in every way! He even lets Luna be Luna, but reminds her that she doesn’t need to be an island all the time. Not when there’s family and love and support waiting to back her up.

This is an incredible story of redemption, finding love, getting past secrets and painful pasts, and seeing that no matter how “larger than life” someone may seem, they’re all human and have more in common than they’d think. I absolutely recommend this read, even if you haven’t read the rest of the series. You won’t be sorry.

I was enjoying Nevin and Luna story until Luna started upsetting me.

I totally understood Nevin and what he was going through. My cousins have expressed how the transition is hard from being behind bars and touching soil outside that wall. Needing space and finding your footing. For Nevin his was a transition from being a teenager to an adult which is definitely a culture shock. His humor was great but the darkness was much appreciated. The attitude and being in survival mode. That was his normal for so many years. Many didn't get it.

Luna for one as she was trying to keep a promise to her best friend but Ro... OMG, the contradiction was heavy. I was ready to snap but Luna handled it with kid gloves but fierceness. Shoot even Joe played a better part in understanding. Now on to why Luna made me mad. She acted like Tamara twin at one point. Bullheaded when it was no cause for it at that time. Sometimes you have to know when it's time to open your mouth and make people aware. Because BABY, I saw that going so many ways. Well written alternative Chelle.

Now can we get to the comic relief of Bear. I loved, loved, loved his talk and words to Nevin. Joe's too. Bear though, he was spilling all the tea over my favorite meal. That was epic.

Now for the elephant in the room, Chelle I think Ian should have too. I was waiting for that to happen all book because the mood was set for that call. That is what I thought would bring Nevine and Luna together truthfully. Hey when you read the author letter you will understand.

New MOI: Heatwave Gave Me All the Feels!
I was SUPER excited for a new Men of Inked: Heatwave book from Chelle Bliss! There’s just something about revisiting the Gallos that feels so good. “Scorch” is the tenth in the next-generation lineup, connecting Luna Gallo (Rosie’s twin and the youngest daughter of fan favorites City and Suzy) and Nevin Walsh (brother of Dylan from Book 9). I feel that this tale was a homecoming of sorts - both for the hero, who returns to his hometown after a decade away and has to figure out what his life will look like there, and for Chelle Bliss and longtime fans of the Gallos. I love that some of the elders of the family are in the thick of things, as well as the return of the cousins’ group text from previous books, which is so stinkin’ entertaining! This is as much about the hero and heroine finding their way to each other as it is about Nevin finding a family to embrace him. A little steam, a few giggles, and a WHOLE lot of feels in this one. As always, Ms. Bliss gives us a little suspense to create tension in a beautifully written and developed plot, and she’s always gotta tease us with what might be coming next. Characters are relatable and loveable - even when the youngest cousins are acting a bit douchey. I want to find the Gallo Fam and beg them to adopt me! Very happily giving this one all the stars! Welcome back, Chelle Bliss. You’ve been missed, and we can’t wait for Book 11!!!

Look out, it is time for another Heatwave and it is Luna and Nevin's turn. Their story is not as steamy as some of the others but it has a suspenseful aspect that will keep you glued to your kindle.
Out of the three sisters, Luna is the wild child, she does what she wants and doesn't want anyone telling her what to do. When her best friend's brother gets out of jail, Luna makes it her mission to look out for him and make sure he is good. Nevin doesn't know what to do with Luna, he doesn't need anyone, after almost 10 years in prison, he needs time to adjust. Time waits for no one, especially Luna.
These two were meant to be together but Luna wasn't good with it until Ian (her BFF and Nevin's brother) told her it was OK. There was a time or two that I wanted to slap her on the back of her head and say "grow up." She wanted everyone to treat her like an adult but she was acting like a child. There are times when you can handle things on your own and then there are times when you need to call in reinforcements.
All in all, I loved the story as a whole and will read it again. If you haven't read the Heatwave series yet, you should, and start from the beginning because you don't want to miss anything. Then you need to start the Men of Inked series which is about the parents. The whole family is a family filled with love, friendship, craziness, and fun.

After reading Ashes I was highly anticipating Luna's story. She was such a fun and different kind of heroine that I'm used to reading about that I knew her story would be a ton of fun.
Luna did not disappoint. She was a spitfire which made her story so entertaining and lively. She was a lot of fun to read about and I couldn't wait to see who would be her match.
Nevin did take some warming up to but then he did spend 10 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit so one would be hardened after that experience. Don't worry though, after a few chapters you'll love Nevin. You just have to understand where he's coming from.
Luna and Nevin certainly scorched my kindle that's for sure! I loved their dynamic and their interactions were so entertaining. I loved how Luna broke down Nevin's walls. She was determined and so persistent that Nevin eventually couldn't resist her love anymore (not that he really wanted to).
This romance definitely started as a slow burn but it did get steamy when they finally got together.
I would recommend for readers who like wild child heroine, sassy heroine, grumpy hero, opposites attract, sibling's best friend romance, friends to lovers, slow burn, and grumpy/sunshine.

*Thank you to Valentine PR & the author for providing an advanced copy. I voluntarily read and reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

Wow, I think this might be my very favorite Men of Inked book ever! Nevin and Luna’s story seems to have so much more of an emotional pull than previous books. Nevin’s background and story really touch my heart. At times, I don’t think his own brothers gave him enough credit for what he did for Ian. Luna may have professed that she was just helping out her bff’s brother, but he definitely touched her heart at the same time.
Nevin learned quickly that there’s no stopping Luna when she wants something…and that’s to give Nevin all the support he needs, even as she tries to keep things strictly friendship only between the two. It that attraction burns high and bright.
The funny thing about Scorch was seeing two characters I adored in their own book…Rosie and Dylan…turn into people I wanted to give more than one swift kick to the butt to! IMO, they were both complete jerks to Nevin and Rosie was an uptight priss to Luna. I’ll admit that in my review of Ashes, I wasn’t a fan of Luna. Now, her twin and Nevin’s brother were on my hit list! Funny how that happens.
I am completely in love with this Luna/Nevin pairing. Kudos and 5 stars to Chelle Bliss for this couple and this emotional and fantastic book!

Another great addition to the Men of Inked:Heatwave.
Nevin’s story is emotional and heartbreaking.
Taking the fall for a crime he didn’t commit for the sake and love of his brother he now has a hard time trying to navigate his new surroundings and coming to terms with his bent up feelings.
Luna is determined to befriend Nevin not only because of the promise she made Ian but also because she feels for him.
People still look at him like a criminal even though he’s innocent leaves Nevin with a bad attitude and pushing everyone away.
But this is the Gallo family we are talking about and they will not be pushed away.
I loved how they welcomed him and saw him as a hero.
I couldn’t really feel the intimate connection between Luna and Nevin.
It felt more like really good friends with thrown in benefits.
I know Luna is a free spirit and the wild one but it felt wrong to me that she slept with both brothers.
Nevin kept saying over and over he didn’t want Ian’s seconds so that also made their connection not very real to me.
Now their sexual chemistry was definitely there. It was hot and sizzling.
But there is a difference between an intimate and sexual relationship.
Anyway my heart is happy that Nevin found his peace.

I don't know anything more perfect than spending time with the OG Gallo family even as a big loud hilarious supporting cast, and Scorch had me excited about one of City's daughters, Luna, finding her future. Nevin took the rap for something he didn't do for someone he loved, but now that he's out of prison after ten years, he doesn't know where he fits in so he's a bit of a grumpy thing LOL! Luna has made him her new purpose despite the fact he's doing everything he can to run her off but apparently, he underestimated this particular Gallo. The sparks are flying, but he truly believes he's not good enough for her, and he finally goes too far in hurting her feelings so if he wants happiness will he man up & get his girl?! I LOVED LOVED LOVED Scorch so much, and I devoured it in one sitting but that's nothing new when it comes to a Chelle Bliss book. There's so much goodness in the pages with the angst, heat, humor from our OGs, and even twist or two along the way making it another perfect read in my eyes that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Gallos are back, and it's time for Luna's story, and boy is it a zinger! As she falls for Nevin Walsh. Whose just been released from prison after serving ten years for a murder he didn't commit and the reason he's free, his brother Ian and Luna's best friend decided it was time to tell the truth. Even though Nevin was only one month away from parol, and as Ian faces jail time his one wish is for Nevin and Luna to stick together.

Only Nevin doesn't want anything to do with his brothers best friend particularly as she's a Gallo. But Luna is determined to help Nevin adjust and no one can resist a Gallo for long especially the spitfire that is Luna.

And with plenty of Gallo family shenanigans, sweetness, sparks and emotion. Scorch is a great addition to the series and it's one I'd happily recommend to others.

I love Luna and Nevin together! I laughed so much. Loved seeing the other Gallos in this story too.
So Luna and Nevin meet when Nevin is released from prison, read the story for the details about that. But both of them promise Ian they would look out for the other. A few weeks after that, they have a few encounters here and there since Nevin is getting used to life outside and Luna is helping. With an impending hurricane these two end up in close quarters and realize there are deeper feelings than just on a friends level. And they go to Mrs. G’s for dinner twice and you know that family banter is hilarious.
Oooo these two are spicy. I would definitely recommend reading their story and the other ones from this series.

I always love being with the Gallo’s but wow, was this a emotional journey…in the best possible way! Luna is sassy independent tattoo artist that loves her friends and family. Nevin has just spent 10 years in prison after protecting his brother. Luna has made it her job to help and support Nevin…if he likes it or not! Boy does he learn to like it! These two have amazing chemistry and great banter. This was an emotional read and I enjoyed Every page. This family is fiercely protective and incredibly supportive of each other. The text feed is always laugh out loud funny and the family banter is just as good. I loved how honest and raw Nevin’s story was. Chelle has a way of writing characters that is beyond perfect. Her characters are so real, that you swear you really know them. I can’t get enough of her books or her writing. I’m definitely a huge fan, especially of the Gallo family. I’m already looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

As always, once a Chelle Bliss book (or ARC) hits my kindle, all other books cease to exist and I immediately dive back into a family I absolutely love.

In this latest release, we meet Luna (daughter of City and Suzy) and Nevin. We have two opposing families in this book, but soon we see that no matter if enemies lie, love is a powerful force that overcomes anything for the greater good.

There's fire, there's passion, there's family dynamics that all come together to deliver a can't-put-down-sad-when-it's-over book that leaves you yearning for more, and waiting for the next Gallo book to appear!

Burning for love!

When Nevin Walsh is released from prison, he doesn't expect to be pulled into a family he thought hated him. Luna Gallo is slightly wild and sometimes reckless but promising her best friend Ian that she'll look after his brother, Nevin, little does she realise her wild ways are about to get tamed! Seeing the man beneath the jail term, Luna knows Nevin is a good man but can she convince him of that? Chelle always knows how to write a book you can't put down with characters you adore! Can't wait for the next book

This is book ten in the Men of Inked: Heatwave series. They are stand alones, but each book has been great.

This is Luna and Nevin's story.

This is a little tamer, than the others. It's still an awesome read.

Luna is a badass! Nevin is a great guy that would do anything for his brothers. And he proved it!

Nevin and Luna had completely opposite upbringings. But they are both great people.

Nevin has spent years of his life in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Now he's out and having to move on with his life. Luna is his brother's best friend. She's determined to help Nevin fit in with life after prison. The two become much more than friends as things go along in the story. Another win in the series and a visit with the rest of the family.

The tenth book in the Men of Inked: Heatwave series by Chelle Bliss, Scorch is a well written, slow-burn romance that captivates you from the very beginning. There's explosive chemistry, heartache, witty banter, a bit of humor, past secrets, redemption, suspense, and lots of feels.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
