1.  Donate to the Cougar Challenge -  Instead of asking for multiple donations throughout the year, which is a huge hassle of all concerned, SHMS PTO just has ONE fundraiser called the COUGAR CHALLENGE.  We ask each family to donate $250 per student to support SHMS.  This donation is also tax deductible!  Your donations directly fund Classroom Mini-grants (additional teacher requested resources, 25k per year,) additional needs of the Music/Band/Orchestra, teacher/staff appreciation events held throughout the year, Academic and Social clubs at SHMS, and many other worthwhile student/staff/community events.  Click the link below to support your student at SHMS! 

2.  Sign up to volunteer with the PTO -  Volunteering with the PTO is a great way to meet others, get involved, give back, and support SHMS teachers/staff/students. Click the link below to help support our school!  We have both Board of Director positions open as well as a generalist volunteer who helps if/when they can.  

Our first monthly meeting of the year is on September 22nd from 8:30-10am at SHMS. Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month during the school year (Not December.)

Each August, we kick off the school year with an event to provide all students and parents with an opportunity to complete several beginning-of-year items and receive valuable information they will need to navigate middle school at SHMS.

*  Student school photos will be taken for all students for ID’s and the yearbook.

*  Student planners and lockers will be handed out to each student.

*  Information about the various SHMS sports and activities will be available. 

*  Information about joining the SHMS PTO, how you can help with a donation to the Cougar Challenge (our one and only fundraiser) and various volunteering opportunities, will be available.  

Please help us to welcome our new and returning students as well as their parents to SHMS for a great year!  There will be a presentation from the SHMS Teachers and Staff, a "mini school day" for students and parents, a tour of the school, and much more!  Please volunteer with the link below!

Answer:  The simple answer is no.  Our teachers are innovators and they bring new and exciting leaning to our students each and every year and so need funds in addition to the school budget to make that happen.
